Egyptian Photographer Wins in Outdoor Category
Out of the 17 Best-in-Category winners in the Global XMAGE Awards, one hails from Egypt. Sadek Khafagy won the award in the Outdoor category for his work titled “Reflection.” His image captures the striking beauty of the unique rock formations of The Wave in Arizona After a rainy day, water pools in this area reflect the oranges and yellows of the layered rock walls and bright blue sky. Khafagy’s photograph masterfully depicts this vista in perfect symmetry.

Regional Talents Honoured with MEA XMAGE Special Awards 2023
A number of photographers from the MEA region have won special awards from the Huawei community. The UAE, being one of the countries with the most submissions, bagged 10 out of the 15 MEA XMAGE Awards dolled out in 2023. Their images told rich visual stories from breathtaking landscapes, glistening architecture, and the diverse culture of the UAE. Talented photographers from Saudi Arabia and South Africa also earned Special Awards. The special awards had gold, silver and bronze winners in several categories ranging from Portraits and Art&Fashion to Hello Life and Outdoor.
HUAWEI XMAGE Awards Celebrate Photographers from the Middle East and Africa @HuaweiZA
Gold Winners: In the Art&Fashion category, the image “Art-Chitecture” captures a unique architectural design with excellent composition that almost makes it look like a flower. The portrait “Drying Up” is a monochrome shot of a man drying hotel towels, full of a sense of story. And “Water Drop” in the Hello Life category was a creatively inverted macro shot of a water droplet against a surreally colourful background.

Silver Winners: In Hello Life, “Golden Summertime” encapsulated the radiance of summer in a vivid splash of golden sunset colours. The portrait “Behind the Mask” shows an Emirati girl with her eyes conveying deep emotion behind her traditional face mask, a poetic image that celebrates cultural heritage. The joyful “Best Buddies” image depicts the silhouette of children at the beach against the colourful hues of the evening sky, representing the innocence and sincerity of childhood friendship.

The expressive portrait “Innocent Beauty” masterfully uses chiaroscuro lighting to accentuate the doe-eyed gaze of a young girl. In the Outdoor category, the “Skyscrapers” features tiny window cleaners rappelling down the gleaming facade of a soaring skyscraper. This photo contrasts immense architecture with small human figures.

Bronze Winners: The serene “The Kite Runner” captures a solitary young boy silhouetted against a misty dawn sky as he tries to fly his kite. The cinematic “Life Sun” depicts the blazing sun casting dramatic rays through the immense desert landscape of Al-Ula. Another spectacular shot titled “Kyrgyzstan Postcard View” documents the culmination of a rewarding 9-hour mountain trek, showcasing the cascading valleys and jagged peaks revealing themselves in a breathtaking panorama.

The “The Last Light” is an atmospheric landscape taken at dusk, the fading sun casting the mountainous terrain in an ethereal glow. The “Night Under the Galaxy’s Lights” places an SUV in the middle, framed by the dazzling sweep of the Milky Way and some light-painting trickery. The image titled “There is No Love Like Snail Love” playfully highlights nature’s wonder through two spiralled gastropods tenderly exploring each other’s shells. And the portrait of a farmer carrying a woven basket on his head demonstrates excellent cultural storytelling.

Through unique perspectives, artistry, and storytelling, these 15 photographers from the Middle East and Africa have proven themselves at the forefront of their field.

The three Grand Prize-winning photographs that captured the judges’ hearts

“Dragon Clouds” by Domcar Calinawan Lagto from the Philippines, “Airshow” by Piotr Cebula from Poland, and “Fearless Eagle” by Dou Chuanli from China were awarded the Grand Prizes. Each Grand Prize winner will receive 10,000 USD (before tax) from the XMAGE creation fund, to support their photography and to encourage them to continue using Huawei devices in the future.

The 17 Best-in-Category winners and the 34 Runner-up winners were selected from each category, and will each receive 1500 USD and 1000 USD, respectively.

A Memoir - This Month Last Year - May 2021 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay

Hi Friends,

May 2021 was the time when the lockdown opened for a little while and a lot of virtual and in-person events started to happen. The first one I attended was the one for High Tea at Hype Park Corner where I also got my first Le Creuset mug as well. I won the various contests on Facebook for LG FN7 earbuds to Instax Superfan Contest on Mother's Day and on Twitter as well which kept me motivated during 2021. I was invited to the AC DC Express store and got some goodies there as well. I also got nice goodies from Huawei for the 947 Joburg Day too.

1. 3 Million Pageviews on www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay - It takes time to build up your following and pageviews on your blog. I am in my 10th year of The Life's Way and I am sure I am going to reach 4 Million by 27th December 2022 when it will be time to cut the cake of 10 Years of The Life's Way. I may have not earned anything from The Life's Way in terms of actual currency but in the notional currency terms, I have earned a lot. But does notional value brings food to the table - Definitely NO! Currently, I am hanging around 3.69 Million and the flow has been slower as I am more focussed on my Youtube channel. Will it be possible to do the 0.31 million page views in the next 6 months only time will tell?

2. A Memoir - This Month Last Year - May 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay - I did a lot of posts in the previous year during the first lockdown. This post reviews all the ones I did during those days. You will find a lot of links to those posts and can enjoy the same.

3. A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Apr 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay - The photo posts continued which were also shared on Google Connect Local Guides channel as well. It did fetch me a lot of support from the Local Guides community too. It made me take my number of posts on Google's platform to around 100 or so in a small amount of time.
4. A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Mar 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay - I started reviewing a lot of products as well as photo posts from various locations around the world. I did a lot of posts for Dubai based on all the locations I visited during my trip in 2020. Dubai trip I really loved as I found it to be an amazing city worth living but you need to be earning in Dirham's as compared to going and spending there in some other currency, especially ZAR.

5. A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Feb 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay - Feb 2020 was still the time when I was travelling back from India and UAE. I totally loved the same with my family. It was a fun time but also my onsite deputation ended leaving me hanging on the African shores with Indian income which was really trying but thanks to the job of my wife, we could carry on with our savings and the same lasted for around 10 months. Always you should have a savings balance which can last you a year long. Lesson Learned.

I watched a lot of web series during this time from Tripling Season 2 to Superman and Lois Season 1 to Lupin Season 1 to Permanent Roommates Season 1 to The Last Hour to Pati Patni Aur Panga to Runaway Lugai to November Story to Radhe movie to Sardar ka Grandson to Road of the Lions to LOL Hasee to Phasse to Wrath of Man to Tom Clancy Total Remorse and so much more in a single month.

Cheers!!!

A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Apr 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay

Hi Friends,

April 2020 is the month where I got to know that I have been released from the project and in the last 6 years of my life in South Africa, I have never been on the bench and this was the first time I will go into a route where my deputation will be ended. The project was going to be difficult to find during this corona time and it took me more than 10 months to come back and find a project in South Africa. All the benefits were stopped from house rent, insurance and other allowances and I was on savings for all these months. The Indian salary I was getting was less than the home rent I was paying here in South Africa. But nonetheless, it gave me an understanding that you need to start increasing your salary and you should make full use of your knowledge and cash it in the market. The savings are required to be more than a year of expenses rather than the 3 months as told by Wealth managers. That works in general conditions, but when you are in a global pandemic situation, you need to have cash in hand rather than investments which all must have fallen during this pandemic and won't fetch you the principal amount too.

The Life's Way crossed 3 Million Pageviews on 16-May-2021 in 2281 Blogposts.

1. OmniProtect Sanitizing Spray Partnering To Donate 4000lt to 4 Communities #SprayItForward - https://www.thelifesway.com/2020/04/omniprotect-sanitizing-spray-partnering.html - OmniProtect sent me some 24 cases of their sanitizing spray which not only helped me during this whole lockdown in South Africa but also gave them away on my daughters birthday in return gift to all the kids invited too. I have bought some other sanitisers but this one is still serving us well with some cans still to go in 2021. Thanks to OmniProtect for the same.

2. #TheLifesWayReviews - #HuaweiFreeLace Earphones @HuaweiZA #ProductReview - Huawei FreeLace I got from one of their launch event goodies and since then I have been using them as they come in one of my favourite colour - Orange. They are a really good audio product and with advance features, like automatic pause and play if you keep magnetic earbuds attached and it's so easy to keep in your neck. I even took them to India and listened to them during my flight but the battery was dying fast which I came to know is because I didn't have Huawei Smartphone which will help to install the latest firmware on the device. I did that immediately after reaching India from my wife's Huawei P20 Pro smartphone and then the performance improved thereafter. I even liked them much better than the Huawei FreeBuds3 I got from Huawei during the lockdown in March 2020 but due to the comfort of the wireless and tangle less nature of Freebuds3, I stuck to them during the lockdown and thereafter.

The Life's Way crossed 3 Million Pageviews on 16-May-2021 in 2281 Blogposts

The Dubai series continued and it was so difficult to cover Global Village in a single post so it continued for about 7 posts in all together. Do enjoy the Global Village in Dubai which is just only AED15 entry fees and then you eat and buy whatever you want to try out. It's a big marketplace for all the countries surrounding UAE.

I started posting a lot of photo reviews of South Africa travel journeys across many years and also a lot of trips to the Kruger National Park. I really loved posting and bringing all the travel memories back to mind and sharing with the people who generally think of South Africa as an unsafe country to travel to.

Some of the posts were kind of motivational messages along with some photos I clicked randomly so I combined the content with the visual effects to bring about a story. I am now sure if you will like it or not but I really loved writing all of them. When you start doing some daily posts then not only do you achieve a lot of work but also some new creative ideas start flowing inside your brain. The universe loves speed and if you execute faster then you definitely achieve a lot.

April 2020 was a strict lockdown and people were still caught inside the home, taking all the precautions and doing all the exercises assigned to everyone on social media platforms like baking banana loaf bread, or making special kinds of Coffees. Lockdown has really brought out the creative sides of a lot of people who could channelise it on a daily basis.

Cheers!!!

A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Mar 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay

 Hi Friends,

March 2020 was the time when the Covid-19 has hit the world all around and the whole world came to a standstill with lockdown in place. People were buying toilet papers and sanitisers in bulk and collecting a lot of cigarettes and alcohol as you don't know what you will need and how long the lockdown will last too.

 - The month of March started with a blogger brunch with La Vie En Rose restaurant in Killarney Country Club and I totally enjoyed meeting with other fellow bloggers. It was a pleasant morning and totally loved eating at the club and capturing the beauty of food and place.

2. My Tryst with #Loadshedding - Is it New or Lifelong? - Loadshedding is still happening and feels like we are never going to overcome this in our lives. I wrote this article from my life experience in India and South Africa thereafter. The electricity never used to go in the Sandton area but lately, it has been a regular in this locality too but I have the Buco Hardware sponsored Magneto Rechargeable Compact LED with me which I am carrying everywhere now and is available for R200 for 2 at Pick n Pay.

3. #TheLifesWayReviews - #FujifilmXT100 Camera @Fujifilm_SA #7YearsofTheLifesWay #1950Post - https://www.thelifesway.com/2020/03/thelifeswayreviews-fujifilmxt100-camera.html - I got the opportunity to review the new Fujifilm XT100 camera which was really something and I took it for a ride around the town and even won some prizes using the same. The compact size of the camera makes it portable and also the look and feel of this camera is superb.
A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Mar 2020 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay
Taken using the Google Pixel 4 camera of my brother who came from the USA to meet us in Dubai

The work from home situation gave some time where I revived the photo series which I used to do at the start of my blogging career and also a trip to Dubai really gave me a lot of material to post as the place is lovely and ready to be shared with all my readers and social media followers. Enjoy some of these posts which I posted in March 2020.

5. #TheLifesWayReviews - #UFlex #Bluetooth Headphones @SamsungMobileSA #ProductReview - https://www.thelifesway.com/2020/03/thelifeswayreviews-uflex-bluetooth.html - I also started putting a lot of pending blog posts for all the gadgets I own or won in my life. Samsung uFlex is one of the wireless earphones which I have owned for many years but used very less but during the lockdown, I used them aggressively and shared my opinion. I have also gifted 3 pairs of Samsung uFlex to my friends so far too as I won them during some of the launch events in Sandton City and their Twitter contest. Throughout this year and last year, Samsung is distributing Galaxy Buds+ but I didn't have so much luck winning any pair. Let's continue to participate and let's see what the future holds for me.

Life will give you something which you need to think about and take decisions and then enjoy the benefit or failure of those decisions, but never stop making them at all. Keep on making them and strengthening your thinking pattern. Connect the dots and keep relooking at all your mistakes but taking some time out from all the social media, phone and other disturbing chaos to be yourself. It can be spending some time at a local cafe and enjoying a pot of tea or a cold milkshake.

Cheers!!!

#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews

Hi Friends,

This is the final post of Global Village but before saying Goodbye to the venue let's see some of the more spots in this multicultural park. I hope you will continue to enjoy all the posts and the photos in low light.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
There is an awesome lake with fountains which also has fire built into it so when a musical sequence occurs it is a different experience as compared to the one in front of Dubai Mall.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
Ripley's Believe it or Not also has a gallery that was open to all the people visiting the Global Village. It has its own separate tickets that need to be bought at the counter right at the entrance to the gallery.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
A basic boat that might be the first building block of creating an empire called Dubai and making it a global city worth living. I really love the city and looking forward to living in the same one day.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
Pakistan gallery I have kept for last as an Indian we are fed with all different kinds of information which develop our emotions in the name of nationalism but let's see the similar culture it has like India.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
Auto or Three-wheeler is also famous in India but Pakistan has gone further by decorating it with colors that look really great. Desi delights was the shop where we really tried the food and the guy told that this chaat is more favorite in Indian tourists and that's why they have kept it there.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
Look at another truck which is used to transport goods etc in our countries and generally, it is decorated by the owners in their own ways and in Punjab, there are many shops which only work on decorating the trucks and tractors.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
So in the end, Global Village is something that will open your mind and eyes to the realities of the world and each citizen wants peace and wants to enjoy in his own home and with family. We are all bound by the same emotions and relationships.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai VII #PhotoReviews
Global Village is really great and there is so much to see and I can assure you that in Season 25 it will be great and grand. Do check it out if you are in Dubai and have an evening to spend in the city, do visit the place and eat some of the street foods at food trucks and there are restaurants also available at the venue.

#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews

Hi Friends,

There is so much to showcase at the Global Village that this post is dedicated to Iran as that attracted me to enter its gallery and you will see why?
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
During the day time, Global Village looks totally different and that's why it is opened in the evenings around 5pm. Changing lights, fireworks, fire, water, and fountains makes the whole thing look like Disneyland.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
The gates were really awesome with so many details in them and I immediately wanted to capture it all.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
Iran gallery has huge gates and these shops selling unique merchandise from the country. Now I am really not sure whether the stuff was made in China or imported from Iran.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
Just enjoying the view of the whole setup was really relaxing and put me in amaze.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
Look at the King in the center of the shops as I continued to go towards the same and this was one of the biggest highlights of the Iran setup at Global Village in Dubai.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
This was Season 24 of Global Village so what will happen in Season 25 only they know but there will be great ambiance and more cultural showcases will be open to the public soon.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
I really loved the Season 24 of the Global Village as it had everything I could manage to see and wonder at this great park.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Iran VI #PhotoReviews
In the end, Dubai is certainly a city to live and enjoy your life in and I would love to go there again and again if not live there.

Hi Friends,

Global Village is truly a worth visiting tourist place in Dubai, UAE as it offers so much in just the entry ticket of AED 15 you get to see a lot of rich cultural heritage of all the different countries of the world.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews
Check out the Egypt and KSA entrances as they have made the grand doors with good lights and windows showcasing their culture to the world. When you enter the galleries, there will be various shops selling food, clothes and other collectibles items related to the country.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews
Azerbaijan is the country I have never read about also and Global Village is definitely good for your General Knowledge and that's why they say that travel enriches your mind for sure.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews
Afghanistan gates really were the best in terms of combinations of color and attractiveness with their lights, arts, and design. It is really something that you need to experience it with your travel
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews
Syria as we know only in news but here in Global Village, you could see the culture and heritage the country has to offer to the world.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews
I think beyond all these UAE Ministry of Community Development is working day and night to bring collaboration and togetherness between different cultures and countries.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews
All of this is made possible by the UAE and as I already told in my other posts that I have never seen any grills on the window with the same pattern or design and here it is showcased in the UAE gallery.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GlobalVillage #Dubai V #PhotoReviews

#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews

Hi Friends,

Global Village is something unique and pleasure for those who don't have means to travel the world and this place allows you to see the replicas built to be enjoyed and take a lot of selfies to share with your families.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
The best part of these miniature models established is the details with which they are built and it's a pleasure to watch them with all the lights and shadows on them. The USA is represented by this Statue of Liberty in Manhattan, New York City.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
London has Big Ben now known as Elizabeth Tower in Westminister Abbey and the Houses of Parliament, London along with the double-decker buses in the city.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
What can beat watching a replica of The Burj Khalifa to remind people to visit this huge landmark representing Dubai on the world travel destination.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
Leaning Tower of  Pisa in Pisa, Italy is known for its 4degree tilt and people all over the world visit the place to see the same but Abu Dhabi has its own Leaning Tower named Capital Gate building which is inclined 18degrees and is registered in Guinness books of world records.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
I am not sure if this is Pagoda or something else but by the looks of it, it looks like that only.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
Eiffel Tower in Paris, France needs no introduction and is being replicated in a lot of cities and countries in many parks and places. Even we have it here in Johannesburg, South Africa in a place called French Toast Coffee Cafe in Hartbeespoort.
#TheLifesWayCaptures - @GlobalVillageAE #GVMemories24 #Dubai III #PhotoReviews
Sydney Opera house needs no introduction and this is the portion that will remain similar in all seasons as it will difficult to change the shops underneath on which this architecture is built. Only the other stalls and shops might be getting changed every season of Global Village. Let's wait and watch!

#TheLifesWayCaptures - Dubai Marina Mall #Dubai #UAE - #PhotoReviews

Hi Friends,

Emaar is one of the biggest property developers in Dubai, UAE. Other than them I could see DAMAC, Meraas, and DP Group and there must be many more which I was not able to recognize or recall in my short 96 hours trip in Dubai.
Dubai Marina Mall is full of shops with all your favorite retailers trading throughout the day. I didn't enter any of the shops as shopping was not on my agenda and seeing the place was the top priority. And I didn't find the price difference too much so as to buy further as my bags were already overflooded with the things bought from India already.
The area is surrounded by many hotels and in this picture, it's Crown Plaza which really became visible due to this white mesh. The one thing I observed in my trip is that even the grills outside homes or shopping places parking area it's all different designs and no design gets repeated in the same area.
The lights in the night are enough to make your walk easy and make you feel like a great flashing city vibrating with energy, music, and vibes. It feels so great to see day in the night but the only problem is that you need to close your curtains as I lived on 38th floor in Airbnb apartment and it was difficult to sleep with windows open due to neon lights.
The river near the buildings makes it always look great for morning and evening walks. I saw a lot of people running and jogging in the morning and evenings. The city is well connected with trams, buses, tubes and multiple sources of public transports.
I missed traveling in the ferry which I generally always makes a point as it gives a great angle from the mid of the river for taking the shores photos. You need to be really rich to enjoy all the luxuries in Dubai but you can also survive as there are restaurants and takeaways offering a full-fledged meal in around AED12-17 which is enough to make your tummy full. #TheLifesWayCaptures - Dubai Marina Walk #Dubai #UAE - #PhotoReviews

Hi Friends,

Dubai is full of skyscrapers and the first day we went around our Airbnb flat walking in and around Dubai Marina Mall and Marina Walk. It felt so great to go on an evening walk in the main district of Dubai as we generally don't walk here in Johannesburg unless it's a race event.

Dubai has a walkway built all around the roads in this Emaar Properties area. The people stop their cars in case you are crossing the road even when the lights are green for the vehicles. This is a high-level behavior for the walkers which I only saw in Singapore long ago in 2006.

It reminded me of the walk around the Thames river when I used to work in Red Lion Court in Southwark near London Bridge, London, UK. There are restaurants and eateries around the walk and it totally felt European. The ferries go from here till the Burj Khalifa and you can book a tour that is available twice a day.

There are ferries, personal ships, and yachts going around the pier. It really brings you to a city which has been made keeping the future proof and made smart to the smartest. There is a lot of construction going on in and around the area and it keeps growing with time.

The buildings all around the yachts reminded me of the Canary Wharf and St Katharine Docks Marina which is very near to the Tower of London. These photos are clicked from the Emaar Marina Mall food court and the walk around the same.

Emaar Marina Mall is an awesome mall and we had a Vegetarian Paneer Pizza at the Pizza Hut which was not up to our expectations from the Pizza Hut franchise. But as it might be the local taste hence you can't say anything but after eating at the Pizza Hut in India at Ansal Mall, Gurugram you can't compare anything as the taste is superb.
