The Road To DUCKTALES @DisneyXD #DuckTales

Hi Friends,

Did you know that it takes up to 18 months to create a single episode of Disney’s DuckTales? Whoah! From story ideas through to final animation, it’s a long journey to bring the cartoon to life. Want to know more?

In this exclusive interview Executive Producer Matt Youngberg and Co-Producer and Story Editor, Francisco Angones of DuckTales discuss their hit Disney XD show.

What surprised you the most about the fan response to the first series of DuckTales?
Matt: For me, I think some of the best responses have come from fans of the original series from the ‘80s who now have children. It’s been great to hear about how the show has become an opportunity for the whole family to watch together. It’s also really satisfying to hear that the young fans are just as excited – or even more excited – than the fans who grew up with the ‘80s show.
Francisco: It’s really satisfying to know that people enjoy what we’ve created. We took a lot of chances with the show, but people believe in the show and they are excited for more. That’s great to hear.

Can you talk about the chances you took during the first season?
Francisco: We took chances in terms of the characterisations on Huey, Dewey, Louie and Webby. We also took chances on the types of adventures that we were going on with these characters. It’s really gratifying to hear a kid say, “I’m a Louie and my brother’s a Dewey, but my friend is a Webby.” That’s music to our ears.

You must be thrilled…
Francisco: We are. Not only are people able to connect to the show on a nostalgic level and not only are they able to connect to the show on a comedy level – but they are also connecting to the show on a character level. It’s also great to see the response to new characters, like Lena, and to hear the reaction to what we did with Magica and our version of Beakley. We were really excited to work on the show, but we have been constantly afraid that we’d mess it up. The fact that fans have embraced it lets us rest a little easier.

Do you still get a kick out of writing for Donald and these iconic Disney characters?
Francisco: Definitely. You always feel a charge of electricity whenever you get to write “Bless Me Bagpipes” into a script, although that’s become a little bit of a crutch. One of my favorite things is to have someone else say a different character’s catchphrase. For example, in season one we had Scrooge say, “Ah, sweet.” We also had Louie saying, “Oh, boy!” It is truly the greatest joy of DuckTales any time you find a new way to have Dewey insert his name into a sentence. That’s tons of fun for me.

What else thrills you about the writing of the show?
Francisco: I still get a charge from writing scenes in the interior of Scrooge McDuck’s money bin.
Matt: It’s also really exciting to be able to be a part of this legacy and to know that we’re doing something with these characters who are going to out-live all of us. It’s really exciting to be able to contribute to this legacy and to see these characters grow within the boundaries of our show. Knowing that Donald Duck is going to be Donald Duck forever, it’s really exciting to be able to say we contributed towards that.
The Road To DUCKTALES @DisneyXD #DuckTales
THE ROAD TO DUCKTALES . . .

STEP ONE: THE IDEA…
DuckTales is Disney’s dynamite new show that follows the high-flying adventures of Duckburg’s most famous trillionaire, Scrooge McDuck. The dapper Scottish duck has a trio of mischief-making triplet grand-nephews trailing his every move: Huey, Dewey and Louie. And let’s not forget about Scrooge’s world-famous nephew, Donald Duck. Donald is a huge part of the animated action, too!

STEP TWO: THE TEAM…
Who’s in charge of creating DuckTales? The show’s executive producer, Matt Youngberg, and story editor and co-producer, Francisco Angones, lead a talented team of artists, writers and voice actors. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to be bringing DuckTales to audiences around the world,” explains Matt. “It’s a dream come true because we’re both life-long DuckTales fans.”

STEP THREE: THE EPISODES…
“At the beginning of the season, we have to come up with a general idea for the show’s main storylines,” reveals Francisco Angones. “That’s our first major step in the production process. What are the big stories we want to tell this season? Where do we want to focus the story? At this stage, we create a loose template for 25 episodes. It all starts there!”
The Road To DUCKTALES @DisneyXD #DuckTales
Executive Producer Matt Youngberg

STEP FOUR: KEEP IT FRESH…
“We want each episode to feel fresh and new, so we spend a lot of time on the story,” adds Matt Youngberg. “We’ll sit down together with our team of writers and we’ll figure out what each episode is going to be about. We brainstorm together and throw around interesting, fun ideas and situations – and then the writers go off to write an episode. Usually, it’s one writer who goes off to tackle an episode – but we all come together to look at it once it’s finished. We want to make sure we can’t add anything else to make it even better.”

STEP FIVE: THE VOICE RECORD…
“As soon as a script is completed, we try to record the voice of every character in the episode,” continues Francisco Angones. “We have a huge main cast and the actors' schedules can sometimes be tricky to nail down for voice records, but we try to get everyone in for a recording session with each script as soon as it’s written. Our goal is to get as many people as possible at this stage, so that the animators can incorporate the actors’ performance into the storyboards.”

STEP SIX: BOARD SILLY…
“The storyboards are a sequence of drawings that display the story of an episode,” reveals Matt Youngberg. “It usually takes a little over a month to create the storyboard for a single episode. After that, it takes another month to refine it, which is when we do the animatics. We want to make sure that the story works and the jokes are funny before we commit to fully animating an episode, which is why we do these rough animations – or animatics – first.”

STEP SEVEN: FINAL DESIGN…
“After the storyboards are completed, we then go into final design,” continues Matt Youngberg. “At this stage, we design all of the assets that we need for the episode. We have to create everything you see in the show. That includes all the buildings, vehicles, characters and backgrounds that we explore in our high-flying adventures.”
The Road To DUCKTALES @DisneyXD #DuckTales
Co-Producer and Story Editor, Francisco Angones

STEP EIGHT: DESIGNING DUCKTALES…
“A lot of time and effort goes into the design of the characters in DuckTales,” admits Matt Youngberg. “For example, Donald Duck has been around for many, many years. He was around way before we were born and he will be around long after we’ve gone – but we wanted to make sure we created a design that was fun and exciting for this new show. For inspiration, we looked at the DuckTales comics written by Carl Barks. We also looked at the DuckTales cartoon from the 1980s and the rich history of Disney.”

STEP NINE: THE ANIMATED ACTION…
“As soon as everything is designed, we’ll start to animate,” continues Matt Youngberg. “The animation stage is one of the longest parts of the process. It takes months. While this is happening, we work on the other stages of production. We’re figuring out new stories for other episodes and we’re also keeping an eye on the progress of everything to make sure it’s finished on time.”

STEP TEN: A FINAL POLISH…
“As soon as the animation is complete, we’ll take a long look at the episode to make sure everything works exactly as planned,” reveals Francisco Angones. “We edit the animation. We add sound effects and music. This is the stage where we polish the story and make sure it runs smoothly. Once this stage is completed, we have a fun new episode of DuckTales.” Quackers!

Young #SA Artists Unite To Create #UltimateSAMedley #SponsorsOfBrave #StayHome #StaySafe

Hi Friends,

Young South African artists have joined together, in their individual homes and via technology during #LockDown to record The Ultimate South African Song Medley, as a “THANK YOU” to all the healthcare professionals and other essential workers who are putting their lives at risk on a daily basis in order for the rest of us to #BeSafe and to be able to #StayHome.

Adcock Ingram OTC’s Sponsors of Brave Campaign in association with Stageworx Performing Arts School, released a video of The Ultimate South African Song Medley to not only thank our “heroes who don’t wear capes”, but to uplift the nation through local music.

To quote one of the greatest heroes, Nelson Mandela,;

“Music is a great blessing. It has the power to elevate and liberate us.
It sets people free to dream. It can unite us to sing with one voice.
Such is the value of music.”
Young #SA Artists Unite To Create #UltimateSAMedley #SponsorsOfBrave #StayHome #StaySafe
The Ultimate South African Song Medley integrates 28 of the most instantly recognizable classic South African songs from music icons across diverse genres from the last 50 years, woven into a seamless tapestry by Music Arranger, Maestro Extraordinaire, Bryan Schimmel, and performed by 50 students and alumni from Stageworx Performing Arts School in Johannesburg. Multi-Award winner Bryan Schimmel is one of the top theatre and event music directors and arrangers in South Africa. Stageworx Performing Arts School is headed by Gemma and Matthew Marinus and trains students from the ages of 7 – 25 years in all aspects of Performing Arts and prides itself on assisting children and young adults find their personal journey through arts training. Stageworx has students from all walks of life, backgrounds, and cultures and places emphasis on human development through arts education.

Music from Brenda Fassie to Kurt Darren, Mandoza to PJ Powers, Yvonne Chaka Chaka to The Parlotones, Miriam Makheba to Four Jacks and a Jill, Sonja Herholdt to Mafikozolo to name but a few – are all included to showcase the rich musical culture of South Africa.

Says Schimmel of the Medley; “It’s very nostalgic. It gives people that “oh-wow-I-forgot-about-that-song” feeling. It introduces the youth of today to the wealth and heritage of great South African music that was produced long before they were even born. The result is a multi-cultural and cross-generational musical celebration.”
Young #SA Artists Unite To Create #UltimateSAMedley #SponsorsOfBrave #StayHome #StaySafe
Gemma Marinus, the Director of Stageworx Performing Arts School, explains the procedure of putting this video together; “The brief was sent out to +/- 160 of our students (current and alumni) including some students that have already made a name for themselves in the Arts industry such as John Tsenoli, Phil Higgins, Yahto Kraft and Marianthe Panas.”

She continues: “Everyone jumped at the chance to be part of the project. All our students were sent harmonies and certain lead lines that they had to record at home on their cell phones and we were sent back all the recordings. From there, Matthew Marinus mixed all the vocal recordings and we sent back for everyone to record their videos (again on their cellphones). It was incredible to see the level of enthusiasm and talent that was sent through to us.”

Gemma concludes; “It is incredible how music and the arts is a complete leveller - it doesn't matter if our students are from affluent or underprivileged backgrounds, when they walk into class no-one is better than the next and everyone is there for their passion. The Ultimate South African Song Medley has been a performance piece that is much loved by our Stageworx students. One thing is for sure, we will be keeping our students busy during the lockdown with already planned online classes, workshops and more exciting projects - music and the arts is the one thing that will help every South African emotionally through these challenging times ahead, and it should never be underestimated. “
Young #SA Artists Unite To Create #UltimateSAMedley #SponsorsOfBrave #StayHome #StaySafe
Adcock Ingram OTC Financial Director Yudhveer Singh applauds the youth as he describes, “It’s encouraging that even in these uncertain times, South Africa’s young people are energized to show the lighter and more optimistic side of life. The youth have united through our local, iconic music to celebrate all the healthcare and other essential workers that BRAVELY support our nation during this tumultuous period. The medley exudes fun, joy and nostalgia, allowing us as South Africans, a reprieve from the challenges that surround us.”

Yudhveer added, “A few weeks ago along-side News24, Adcock Ingram OTC launched ‘Sponsors of BRAVE,’ a campaign celebrating and sharing the stories of pharmacists, doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals who have gone above and beyond their day-to-day call of duty. This melodious compilation is a dedication to all South Africans doing the right thing and making a difference.”

Gemma Marinus sums up the eagerness of Stageworx Performing Arts School’s involvement in this project; “It is such a blessing to have a company like Adcock Ingram OTC help bring this medley to life. Through this medley, we want to encourage all South Africans to go to https://partners.24.com/SponsorsofBrave/ to nominate their heroic healthcare professionals in their community.”

Celebrate Mom: The Essential Worker All Year Round @NetFlorist #MothersDay

Hi Friends,

Not everyone is an essential worker, but Mom definitely is! Mother’s Day falls 10 days post the nationwide level 5 lockdown (Sunday, 10 May, 2020) and after a time that has been taxing on the mind, body and emotions for many. Parenting stories shared on social media during this period of the global pandemic revealed how stretching April has been. Moms have had to work from home, home school the kids, manage the household as well as provide emotional support for the family demonstrating their heroic traits, once again. This Mother’s Day let mom know how much she’s appreciated and loved with a special gift from NetFlorist
Celebrate Mom: The Essential Worker All Year Round @NetFlorist #MothersDay
“Chances are, that 80% of moms are going through the same emotions right now. They are exhausted, they’ve shouted and cursed at the kids, husband, and maybe even the dogs, and they’ve neglected themselves.Young moms have never been tested the way they have over this last month, they have sacrificed, cleaned the house more than enough, cooked 100 meals per day, worked like never before, cried and they possibly miss their own mothers too.

“ Your mom spent a whole 9 months locked down while she carried you and she fattened her curves too, so this Mother’s Day, make sure this special human knows how much you appreciate and love them and if mom is social distancing then let her know you miss her, miss her food and warm embrace. ”, said Thalissa Pillay, NetFlorist Marketing Manager.

Celebrate Mother’s Day this year, it is an opportunity to show gratitude to mothers (not only biological) for being present, supportive, strong for the whole family and for soldiering on no matter what.

Hi Friends,

Kruger National Park is a must-visit place in case you are visiting South Africa and love wildlife too. The habitat and vegetations change from camp to camp as you travel from one end of the park to another.

I was at Skukuza Rest Camp for my morning breakfast when I saw this beautiful glossy blue colored birds flying length and breadth of the restaurant in the search of some food.

This is a very quick flying bird and its silky blue and green feathers look great and the eyes of this bird can be noticed from far far away. I hope that you make Kruger National Park a must on your trip to South Africa.

Tips to A Heart-Healthy Pantry During Lockdown #DoLifeWithHeart @Jungle_ZA

Hi Friends,

In challenging times like these, when social-distancing means rethinking how often you should go to the grocery store, you have to make smarter shopping choices. This means not only purchasing items that are long-lasting and affordable, but also ones that are healthy for you.

Kershnee Kallee, Marketing Manager on Jungle, says that during these tough economic times, consumers are becoming more conscious about what they are buying, with some sacrificing healthy options for affordable ones. However, healthy can be affordable too!

“Healthy eating should remain a top priority, especially during times like these. There are plenty food options available that provide your body with the right nourishment, without breaking the bank.”

Kallee says that consumers should look at choosing to stock up on affordable wholegrains such as Jungle Oats, or Jungle Oats Instant. These are high in fibre, low in sodium and contain the natural fibre, beta-glucan, which lowers cholesterol. “Not only is Jungle Oats heart-healthy, but also very versatile – and more than just a breakfast cereal. It can be used in your smoothies, when baking or cooking, or even in snacks. Jungle Instant Oats are so convenient to prepare, it contains all the goodness of Original Jungle Oats, and you only need to add boiling water.

“Make sure to include dried beans and lentils to your pantry too, these are not just versatile but also a great source of protein – an essential nutrient for your body. These food items also contain potassium which help reduce blood pressure - key in ensuring a happy heart,” she adds.

Looking for a heart-healthy dish to try out at home? Kallee suggests this easy recipe for FRESH OAT PANCAKES. “Oat pancakes are the perfect way for anyone to start their day. Top off with some fresh fruit and you’re ready to enjoy.”

Keep Your Children Entertained & Learning While at Home #HuaweiAppGallery @HuaweiZA

Hi Friends,

Being home-bound is the new normal for people the world over, and a reality we all have to get used to. But although we know staying home is the best way to stay safe, we can’t help but miss our old lives when there were more things to do and places to go.

Keep Your Children Entertained & Learning While at Home #HuaweiAppGallery @HuaweiZA
Luckily, we have our smartphones to keep us busy. Imagine isolation before the digital era. Exactly – things could be worse. So as long as you’ve got a smartphone in your hand and a suite of Huawei apps, there is no excuse to be bored during the lockdown.

HUAWEI AppGallery enables you to keep doing many of the things you’re used to doing but in a different way. One of the significant aspects of our lives that has changed during lockdown is children being able to go to school. This has had a big impact on children (and their parents!). Some schools have opted for distance learning, with the assistance of virtual teaching and parent tutoring, while others are simply not able to offer that service.

D6 School Communicator App
The Department of Basic Education may extend the break from schooling and adopt a phased-in approach until July, which means that many children will not have access to the formal education they’re used to for a while. This makes it even more critical for parents and students to be aware of the developments at their school while the education system navigates a way around the rest of the schooling calendar. The “D6 School Communicator” app, which can be found in HUAWEI AppGallery, enables better school-parent communication. As a parent, you can easily stay in touch with the school with just a few swipes. D6 School Communicator provides homework, news, events, as well as other useful resources.
Keep Your Children Entertained & Learning While at Home #HuaweiAppGallery @HuaweiZA
Jellipop Match App

In addition, staying at home does not have to be a boring sentence for children, nor does it mean they have to sacrifice learning entirely. It’s very important to keep the younger ones’ minds engaged in this period of little physical and social activity. HUAWEI AppGallery has a variety of children’s apps that will keep them entertained, while also learning. That way, you can keep them busy, while you’re focusing on working from home.

Keep Your Children Entertained & Learning While at Home #HuaweiAppGallery @HuaweiZA
Kahoot! App

For example, the “Jellipop Match” app in HUAWEI AppGallery is a casual, match-3 puzzle game with missions to be fulfilled on each fascinating level. The app has sugary-sweet graphics and smooth controls so it’s fun for children – they won’t even know they’re learning while playing! There’s also the “Kahoot!” app - a game-based learning platform with multiple-choice quizzes that make it fun to learn subjects for all ages.
Keep Your Children Entertained & Learning While at Home #HuaweiAppGallery @HuaweiZA
K53 South Africa App

During this time at home, it’s also important to plan for life post-lockdown. With this in mind, there’s the “K53 South Africa” app, which helps teenagers prepare for taking their learners and drivers license tests. Seizing this downtime to learn the rules of the road is ideal for teenagers wanting a bit of independence when they no longer have to stay at home 24/7.

Being home-bound is definitely being made easier by our mobile devices. Our smartphones have proven invaluable in keeping us productive and sane. Indeed, a lot can still be accomplished during this uncertain period. Thanks to mobile platforms like HUAWEI AppGallery, you can also make the staying at home experience a much better one for you and your children.

Catch Cut-Out Girls On @DStv Box Office #Movies #FeelEveryMoment

Hi Friends,

A powerful story of how the lives of six young women are forever altered by the actions of two aspiring sportsmen.

You can’t social distance in a theatre, but many of the latest movies are now streaming, giving us viewers an escape at home.

Among the best local films to watch from the comfort of your lounge on DStv’s BoxOffice is Cut-Out Girls, an important message movie from writer-director, Nicola Hanekom, and actor-producer, Grant Swanby. The film is available now and can be downloaded with your PVR decoder and online.

Cut-Out Girls creates social awareness around gender violence issues. Based on Hanekom’s award-winning stage play, ‘Cut-Out Girls’ has been described as, “a small film with a big heart, that knows how to throw a punch”.

Kevin and Mike are young men trying to get ahead in the competitive world of tennis. When one of them discovers a dangerous key that can unlock their potential, things get out of hand. Their worlds become intertwined and spiral out of control. A small series of seemingly insignificant moments weave together with devastating consequences. The film delves deep into the notion that in every moment a choice exists.

“The frightening truth is that we all can turn into monsters, from ‘us’ into ‘them’. The trick, the prayer, the hope is that we won’t,” says Hanekom. “With the violence against women endemic in South Africa, ‘Cut-Out Girls’ is inspired by the #MeToo and #AmINext movements and is aimed at creating social change.”
Catch Cut-Out Girls On @DStv Box Office #Movies #FeelEveryMoment
Movie review platform SPL!NG said, “Hanekom is able to leverage the power of the message through solid performances from a young cast; well-composed cinematography; capturing authentic moments; using her resources wisely and via an eclectic mix of shooting styles … ‘Cut-Out Girls’ remains a brave, important, and respectable indie film. Considering the enormous challenge of adapting and bringing this indie drama to life, its sheer existence serves as an achievement in and of itself.”

Hanekom says she wants to tell stories that make a difference and make films that lead to positive change. “I am fascinated by how we all carry the potential for evil inside us, how we can incrementally shift and become unrecognizable to ourselves. We are what we think, say, and do. Ultimately, our acts define us. But we can heal. We are not the sum total of what was done to us. We are the beauty we choose to find inside ourselves.”

‘Cut-Out Girls’ stars Joel Rosenblatt, Cody Mountain, Keziah Gabriel, Chloe Papademetriou, Meghan Oberholzer, Ashleigh van der Hoven and Atlanta Johnson.

The film was shot in and around Cape Town in 2017. A portion of the proceeds of the film will go to the non-profit organization Rape Crisis. The film is produced by Act Cape Town Productions, in association with Haas & Kaas.

‘Cut-Out Girls’ is distributed in South Africa by Indigenous Film Distribution.

OmniProtect Sanitizing Spray Partnering To Donate 4000lt to 4 Communities #SprayItForward

Hi Friends,

OmniProtect is a powerful hand and surface sanitizing spray with 70% alcohol. Its aerosol function allows for an easy and effective application that limits contact with potentially contaminated surfaces.

OmniProtect contains 70% ethanol and 0.3% Chlorhexidine Gluconate. Alcohol kills germs by penetrating the germ cell walls and denaturing (deactivating) the proteins. Where too much alcohol would cause blockages and prevent this process from occurring, 70% alcohol is the perfect concentration to achieve this. Chlorhexidine gluconate is a disinfectant and antiseptic used by hospitals during surgery, for skin and for sterilizing surgical instruments.
OmniProtect Sanitizing Spray Partnering To Donate 4000lt to 4 Communities #SprayItForward
OmniProtect is scientifically formulated to provide the consumer with powerfully effective sanitization. The factory in which OmniProtect is being produced is following strict protocol to ensure a germ and hazard-free environment. A certificate of analysis will be provided with each bottle purchased for quality assurance.

OmniProtect has partnered with SA celebrities and personalities (Amanda du-Pont, Siya and Rachel Kolisi, Dr. Kanaris, Michelle, and Ziggy Ranaka) to donate 4000 liters of liquid sanitizer to 4 communities in need. The personalities will also take to social media to implement an educational awareness campaign called #SprayItForward.
OmniProtect Sanitizing Spray Partnering To Donate 4000lt to 4 Communities #SprayItForward
The Spray it Forward campaign shows personalities using OmniProtect in their day to day lives and discussing the importance of hygiene in current circumstances. In addition to the educational element of the #SprayItForward campaign, OmniProtect has developed a CSI initiative where the personalities will select an underprivileged community to receive 1 ton of OmniProtect sanitizing liquid.

Staying true to the #SprayItForward campaign, OmniProtect is giving back to communities by rolling out sanitizing stations in major retailers for staff usage, till point cleaning, consumer sampling, and customer hygiene usage on the entrance.

OmniProtect sanitizer is available at all major retailers nationwide.

African Sacred Ibis Enjoys Walking Inside @SANParksKNP #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures

Hi Friends,

Kruger National Park is filled with wildlife that you need to identify using the various birds and animal manuals available at the stores' insides the park. I had the pleasure of going with the guy who loves wildlife to the core and together we roamed from the start of the day till the time gates close of the rest camps.

Time management is of supreme importance if you are inside the park and you need to predefine where you want to go and what you want to do in Kruger National Park.
African Sacred Ibis Enjoys Walking Inside @SANParksKNP #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
There are so many loops - gravel and dirt roads which will take you off the main road and that's where plenty of waterbodies lies and wherever there is a waterbody you can easily see some of the group of animals arriving at different times of the day.

The speed limit of your car is also important as you will be fined heavily around R2500 if you cross the speed limit of 50km/h on the tar road and gravel its 40km/h. There are rangers throughout the park hiding behind the trees, caves and on famous routes and straight roads.

African Sacred Ibis is one of the beautiful birds found in Africa and you will spot the same inside the Kruger National Park. We found this bird close to the Mopani Rest Camp gates once we came out of the same and traveled around the Tropic of Capricorn loop.

If you are interested in Bird Photography, you shall take the biggest possible lens giving you enough zoom as these birds don't come close to the vehicles. If you have a hybrid camera with a 40x zoom that will be great for the Kruger National Park.

I really loved the black and white color combination of the birds' feathers and it really made it glow in the park filled with small flowers on the grass.

Howick Falls in #KwaZuluNatal #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures

Hi Friends,

Howick Falls is nearly 95m in height and Umgeni River water forms the main source of this fall. The beauty of these falls is amazing and KwaZulu Natal as a province is one of the most beautiful states with all its natural beauty.
Howick Falls in #KwaZuluNatal #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
This comes when you are traveling from Johannesburg to Durban via N3 and there is a small detour of around 10km from the main road to get to the inside town of Howick and see this beautiful waterfall.
Howick Falls in #KwaZuluNatal #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
This is the only fall where you don't have to walk more than 10-15m to see the same after parking your car. There is plenty of parking for at least 10 cars.

The viewing area of the falls is right on the edge of the road and can easily be reached by anyone. There is plenty of shops and restaurants around the falls to get cold drinks, beers, etc.

There are many local shops selling South African cultural key rings, collectibles and merchandise made by the local artists and villagers.

This falls causes a lot of accidents and many people have died around this falls as you can see there is a community living right near the edges of these falls. Also, many people try to dive into the pool underneath and lost their lives because of hitting the rocks, etc.
Howick Falls in #KwaZuluNatal #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
It was really great to visit these falls for the first time and there were free community washrooms that were clean. It was too hot weather when I visited the same and I immediately went to buy the cold drinks at the shop nearby. I also bought a copper bangle for myself to wear every day from the local shops along with some keyrings.

Tropic of Capricorn @SANParksKNP @SANParks #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures

Hi Friends,

I never knew that there is a Tropic of Capricorn milestone inside the Kruger National Park as I never traveled so far up to the Mopani Rest Camp earlier in my life and trips to the national park. This comes after you go from Mopani Rest Camp towards Letaba Rest Camp on the main road.
Tropic of Capricorn @SANParksKNP @SANParks #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
As you all know, Tropic of Capricorn is the parallel latitude south of the equator. It is at this latitude that the sun's rays strike the earth vertically on only one day of the year at noon on or about 21 December.
Tropic of Capricorn @SANParksKNP @SANParks #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
Fortunately, I was there on the 26th December so the sun was shining so brightly and the temperature was to the tune of 44-degree celsius. It was so difficult to even open the car window as the warm air would take away all the airconditioning of the car.
Tropic of Capricorn @SANParksKNP @SANParks #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
This also marks the beginning of summer in the Southern hemisphere and the beginning of winters in the Northern hemisphere. This latitude of the south is called The tropic of Capricorn because the sun enters the constellation of Capricorn at the Southern Hemisphere's summer solstice.
Tropic of Capricorn @SANParksKNP @SANParks #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
The Kruger Park has made that you can come out of the car at this point and take some photos but at your own risk and also they made a line of bricks on the road to mark the Tropic of Capricorn.

When you travel, you learn a lot as you come across somethings you read about in your school geography lessons and when you come across that facts in real life, it wows you.
Tropic of Capricorn @SANParksKNP @SANParks #SA #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures
How are you liking this series of Kruger National Park? There is so much to show in Kruger National Park that my mind is working on the titles all day long to post the same and the selection of photos is also taking time all clicked using Nikon D7000 camera
