Stationery Review 56: Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen (M) Nib for ZAR 200

Hi Friends, 

I have been trying to buy this Pilot Range of Fountain Pens for several months now. I even ordered one from Amazon.in for the Jungle Range which has Python, Crocodile, White Tiger etc in the centre part of the design of the body. I went to Sandton City on the weekend and just thought of checking the price of the Pilot Fountain Pens available at the store. They told me that the normal price is R380 and now it's available at only R200. I immediately thought of buying one but the confusion was in the various body colours it's available in. I totally loved all the colours and finally decided on the Red/Rust one as it matched my business card design.

Pilot MR Range of Fountain Pens is the cheapest at Sandton Stationery & Print shop in Sandton City, Johannesburg, South Africa where you can buy all the colours for ZAR 200 each. I have done so and it's a really great fountain pen. The pen writes smoothly and comes with a silicon-type converter or an ink cartridge. They even replaced my silicon converter after it got twisted due to some reason unknown to me. At this price, this is a perfect gift for your teenage kids I also gifted one to my daughter and want to gift it to others as well who love writing with the fountain pens. 

This is the perfect pen to start your fountain pen journey just like I did in my adult life after a gap of many years.

It's been a month since Saturday the 5th of Feb 2022 which marked the opening of Huawei’s fourth store in the country, this time in South Africa’s biggest mall, Sandton City. The store will not only have a retail offering of Huawei’s vast range of quality devices but will also serve as a technical centre and give consumers the opportunity to experience Huawei’s ecosystem of products for themselves.

The technical service offering includes software support, repairs, phone cleaning, and replacement of mainboards, screens and batteries. A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Mar 2021 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay

Hi Friends, 

March 2021 was the time and moment I have been praying for as my deputation again started from 2-Mar-21 onwards after a gap of 10 months or so. The total salary that I drew from offshore was less than the rent I paid here in Johannesburg for the house and amenities every month so I was on my savings for the 10 months or so. It really gave me a perspective that you need to upgrade yourself to better organisations as and when someone offers your hike and promotions rather than keeping yourself in the same comfort zone of one organisation. I have lived 15 years in a single organisation and they are going to reward me using an R2000 voucher once I complete them in Jun-22. That's way less than the prizes of R5000 radio channels and Twitter handles of various banks are given to random people every week.

I was part of both the events and somehow I won in both the lucky draw contests to receive myself Coca Cola goodies, as well as Tomato Watches which I later gifted to my relatives. I really like watching movies at the theatre as compared to watching them on streaming platforms. 

3. UNO® Celebrates 50 Years of Bringing People Together #UNO50 #UNO50SA @Mattel - https://www.thelifesway.com/2021/03/uno-celebrates-50-years-of-bringing.html - Mattel South Africa sent their UNO gift package on the occasion of their completion of 50 Years and this gift is such a unique one. I have kept the same in the package to date and only checked it again as I wanted to get some photos of the package. UNO is one of the games I learned and then beat all the players not once but twice in a friendly game in London. 

March 2022 is already is a great month as I am getting some new opportunities to look forward to. I am able to complete the 20 kilometres I planned for every week and am on my way to reaching 1000 kilometres by the end of the year. I am also on the way to complete my 42 Years of Hanuman Chalisa prayers by the time I wanted them to be over. I also bought a lot of stuff that I always wanted to buy and now don't have to look towards any trade exchanges rather they have to pay me if they want me to do anything on my social media channels.

March 2019 was the best time of the year as I looked back today and connected the dots to see that I was part of many events and got several goodies bag and won several contests. My only pleasure is coming from sharing my content with the world and in turn, getting these goodies bag which I generally distribute to the people around me at the right time especially birthdays or festivals. If you ask me how many I have used myself, it will be very less and mostly it's given away to my friends and relatives.

I totally love writing nostalgic posts and it's my strength as I think about it today. Last year I was invited to the Sandton City activation to check it out and as a general public, I got the Samsung Scoop speakers and Uflex headphones from online contests. This year I was invited to the launch event in Feb 2020 but I was in Dubai during that time so I totally missed the invitation. Thanks a lot, Samsung! 

3. @Fujifilm_SA Launches @InstaxS SQ20 Hybrid Instant Camera in #SouthAfrica #InstaxSQ20 - http://www.thelifesway.com/2019/03/fujifilmsa-launches-instaxs-sq20-hybrid.html - Fujifilm luckily invited some of the people from an online contest on Facebook which I won randomly and I was part of the launch event and as it happened I knew the PR person who also invited me just a day or two before the event. I really wanted an Instax camera in my life and I totally loved the one they launched last year in 2019. I didn't win any at the event but post-event I won one in the social media contests for the day. Many thanks, Fujifilm.

I was invited to the launch event and got the cap and T-shirt in the goodies bag. Later I won the gaming mouse because of my event tweets which were delivered to me in around 2 months as it went out of stock before it was replenished. Thanks a lot Acer Africa. 

5. New Tantalising Flavours From @OrbitGumSA #TeamOrbitWatermelon #TeamOrbitBubblegum - http://www.thelifesway.com/2019/03/new-tantalising-flavours-from.html - Orbit Gum chose me as one of the influencers to receive this amazing media drop which led to my first Instax Mini camera along with a lot of other wonderful products. It came out of nowhere and I was amazingly happy to receive the same. When something like this comes I keep them close before I start eating them just to realize that it's something I wanted and now Universe has made it a reality. Thanks a lot, Orbit Gum. 

6. As with many other industry buzzwords, Big Data means different things to different people, but commonly accepted is the challenge of how to find, combine, manage and analyse any type and volume of data in order to quickly gain insights and solve problems. In practicality this means, for example, that advertising agencies would be able to improve campaign effectiveness and boost ad revenue with big data by providing crucial analytics to advertisers, faster. 

“To most people and organisations, Big Data might be no more than an industry buzzword. People and organisations need to be made truly aware of the capability Big Data has to deliver the competitive advantage for businesses or empower consumers to do more with the data that they have, and ultimately empower them to transform their businesses?” asks Kelly Husband, Data Platform Product Marketing Manager at Microsoft SA. Technology has the ability to empower people and organisation to see the big picture from the masses of data that is out there. Not many people are aware of the power that technology has to manage big data and turn it into meaningful insights and show the big picture.

To illustrate the business benefits that Big Data analytics can unlock for local companies and communicate how international Big Data trends are relevant for local consumers, Microsoft partnered with Innovator and trend analyst Dion Chang.

Chang asserted that the world of the consumer is changing; with the use and analytical power of Big Data, consumers are able to redefine the way they engage with brands, companies and services. To stay relevant to the customer, retail companies have to anticipate changes in buying patterns and product turnover by tapping into the power of Big Data. Companies such as Tracker, a leading vehicle tracking company in South Africa, has been leveraging the data collected through the nodes in their customer database of vehicles to provide insights to organisations such as Navigation companies, Insurance companies, and Emergency Services. 

“With the use of already installed vehicle tracking devices, we are able to track the live movements of vehicles around the country, segmenting the data down to the side-streets of the city we can predict traffic issues, map traffic incidents and even help define the state of the roads. The possibilities are endless to help organisations like to improve the quality of our roads or reroute emergency services to help improve emergency response time,” says Wayne De Nobrega CEO of Tracker South Africa.

To address this, Microsoft South Africa has launched a Big Data campaign entitled See the big picture, to spark conversations around Big Data and educate people around the technological tools they can use to tap into the power of Big Data and see the big picture. As part of this campaign, the company commissioned six young artists to produce works of art that depict Big Data as seemingly meaningless pieces that only make sense or come into focus, when technology is used to interpret the artwork. 

All six pieces of artwork form part of an exhibition at the Mr Price Court in Sandton City, and will be on show during normal shopping hours between 19 June and 3 July. @Zomato - The delicious evening @WalnutGroveSA @SandtonCity Johannesburg

Hi Guys,

The festival of lights is the time when we find ourselves deep into the desserts and sweets. It's the time to celebrate the best things of life in terms of food, clothes and jewellery. For me it was the time to celebrate with Zomato in their Foodie Meetup at Walnut Grove in Sandton City, food court. The place is simply amazing and has an increasing fan following because of their commitment to quality and they simply make your time at the restaurant enjoyable.

Walnut Grove is being run by Elle Ruschioni and her brother Fotis Drakopoulos. It was started by their parents in 1975 and ever since the food has become more tastier and healthier year after year. Here is Elle with Zomato's Heino Gehle.

The setup and decor of the restaurant is awesomely beautiful and this is the chandelier representing their strong belief in great food brings great moments in your life which keeps shining throughout your life in your memories and that's what you cherish.

I never thought or saw the place in all my previous visits to Sandton City but now after spending some timer there and eating some of their vegetarian delicacies I want to go there again and again.

Walnut Grove specializes in cakes, cookies, coffee, tea, milk shakes, smoothies along with various other food items. 

Every item they make or bake is special. Once you have tasted their stuff, you will forget all the other bakeries in town. The first photograph shows variety of Micro Wraps with Hummus, grilled halloumi, polenta crumed feta, olives and avocado; Quinoa with crumbed feta, roast butternut, mixed greens and beetroot relish.

This is my vegetarian board containing Fried Vegetables Lemon Zest Basket, Rustic African Nachos, Paneer Cashew Saffron Curry, Herbed Mushroom Red Velvet Burger. Every food items that was served was extremely delicious and tasty to eat. By the time desserts came I was so full that I could not take more than a bite of each of them. 

Here is the Trip of Gourmet Milkshake Shots, Summer Macaroon selection and Red Velvet Cupcake. Desserts are so nice and tempting that I should have left main course and start from there only.A special Mascarpone Spoon with Coffee Caviar really was an experience of lifetime.

The departing gift from the Walnut Grove was this out of the world Rainbow Cake to keep your family and friends hooked to this restaurant. It not only looked awesome but tasted divine. Even if you don't have time to visit and sit at the place, go and buy a slice of this cake. This is the best I have ever eaten in my life till now. In all of my self obsession with vegetarian food, I completely forgot to take even a single snap of Non-vegetarian food that was served.

Banana Republic has opened it's second store in South Africa in Sandton City, Johanneburg after another one they had in Cape Town.

Clothing and accessories brand, Banana Republic opened its second store in South Africa in Sandton City shopping mall. High profile guests & media attended the launch event where they saw Banana Republic’s approach to style, living & an image that this brand has in the minds of it's consumers.

I liked the fact that the store has chairs to rest while your spouse or loved ones shop. Ster Kinekor cinemas requires no introduction in South Africa and when they launched their fifth Cine Prestige in Sandton City, I was lucky enough to be invited for the launch event as well as to see the latest movie Edge of Tomorrow in 3D on the luxurious leather seats with great catering services. It was red carpet show with a lot of who's who of Jozi welcomed to attend the launch event. I met some of the great people there. The best thing I loved about the #CinePrestige seats is the refrigerated glass chamber to keep your drink chilled throughout the movie which can be turned ON or OFF as per your convenience. The seats are comfortable and I would love to see one extra pillow to be supplied as when in full reclining position your neck is not in a perfect angle to see the screen. Also, if they can provide with a small blanket also so that we can have a comfortable experience and doze off if the movie is not good enough. I agree it will increase a lot of investment and a lot of hygiene stuff into the equation but that's my wishlist. The popcorn, drinks etc is not included in the ticket price as compared to what happens in India's PVR Gold Class where you get a complimentary drink in the ticket price.

But overall the theater has a great aura of luxury as soon as you enter the lounge till the time you reach your seats. There is a place to keep your food on the side of your seat which is well lighted so that you can see what you are eating. Overall, it's a great experience and I can't wait to buy the tickets and reinvent my love for awesome movie experience.

Promotional Goodies - Samsung #S5 - Personalized Metallic Sipper

Hi Guys,

Samsung Mobiles (@SamsungMobileSA) is making their flagship model Galaxy S5 available to public on 11 April 2014 in South Africa and is showcasing their product at various malls and shops. I was lucky that I was in Sandton City Mall on last saturday morning and came across the Galaxy S5 exhibition. The phone looked pretty nice and light weight. It has a lot of features which I will come to know if I get a chance to review the actual product courtesy @SamsungSA #BeTheFirst 

The stall has a stepper where you need to step up and down and the device #GalaxyS5 will calculate the score. I tried it and got the score of 194 in one minute. They then sent me to a counter where I had to submit the name slip along with my score and they manually printed my name on the metallic sipper. It was so cool to get a sipper on your name. Really thanks a lot to the Samsung team for this innovative idea.

I love goodies but goodies like these are special and so close to my heart.

Looking forward to become one of the Samsung Mobilers to blog about their latest products @SamsungMobileSA has to come out with same opportunity for me soon.

Till that time, I will keep looking and never stop as mentioned by Steve Jobs in his Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish speech.
