Samsung shared its vision for the next era of mobile and connected living, offering inspiration to developers, enterprise leaders, and consumers through innovative experiences with the devices they rely on every day.

@SamsungSA Galaxy Cup 2016 - A Fun Way to Enrich Many Lives #SouthAfrica

Hi Guys,

Samsung Electronics South Africa is excited to announce its participation in the first edition of the Samsung Galaxy Cup South Africa, a national five-a-side football tournament for retail mobile sales people from the organisation’s various channel partners. This is a global tournament featuring some 28 countries with over 5000 salespeople participating. The South African leg of the Galaxy Cup (2016) consists of teams entered by partners such as Vodacom, Cell C, MTN and Smollan.

The regional tournaments included teams from Durban, Cape Town, Pretoria and Johannesburg. The winners of these teams contested in the national finals that were held on the 7th of May at St. Stithians College, Johannesburg. The overall winning team, MTN Johannesburg, will have the opportunity to represent South Africa in an international leg of the tournament hosted in Dubai at the end of May. Kevin Mabele, captain of the MTN Johannesburg team, voiced the team’s appreciation of participating in the Samsung Galaxy Cup. “Our hearts are warmed by the honour and opportunity that Samsung has bestowed upon us. In this incredible journey, we have discovered the true meaning of teamwork and our ability to achieve our goals. As Captain, I wish to express our gratitude to Samsung for making our dreams come true and for making it possible for Team MTN to excel beyond our borders.”
Samsung Galaxy Cup 2016 #thelifesway #photoyatra #SouthAfrica
“The Samsung Galaxy Cup is a concept that has proven successful over the past two years as a means of using sport to bring partners together, showcase Samsung’s edutainment ideas and uplift our communities through donations to nominated charities,” says Craige Fleischer, Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa. Elaborating on the idea of edutainment, Fleischer points out that on arrival, each retail channel team received a Samsung Galaxy S7 and a Gear S2. Team members were given missions that they had to fulfil and work towards, over the course of the day.

Spectators also had the opportunity to enjoy the Samsung virtual reality experience, eco-system offerings including S-Health and Google Play Music as well as additional entertainment which included jumping castles, face-painting and live music from Sketchy Bongo.

The Samsung Galaxy Cup is further enriching the lives of those served by a number of charities through an R100000 donation. Each team selected a charity on registration, with the overall winner as well as the winners of each regional final able to make a donation to their nominated charity. An additional amount was made available for the partners to donate to their nominated channels through support mechanisms. Cheques for these charities were handed over to the teams at the prize-giving event on Saturday.

“Sport and South Africa are intricately intertwined and at Samsung, we believe in the unifying power of sport to promote harmony in societies, be it in a personal capacity or at work. Bringing our technology into the sporting arena and people’s lives we serve to enhance their social well being,” Fleischer concludes.

Cheers!!!

A #Brand in Feature - @SamsungSA #Samsung #SouthAfrica #TheLifesWay

Hi Guys,

Samsung in South Africa and the Rest of Africa is so huge in terms of market share. It’s all because of their unlimited array of products featuring the needs of every household to the needs of business professionals. They are the number one mobile manufacturers in Africa and keeps innovating themselves time and again. No Wonder, they are the top choice of South African Youth as per the latest Ask Afrika Youth Brands Survey. Launching People really created the entrepreneurs from the Youth across Africa which is a great CSR initiative from the brand in collaboration with METIME.

When I started blogging and became a member of the biggest blogging network in India named Indiblogger.in, I saw Samsung’s blogging contest where they chose some of the top bloggers to review their devices first and I thought it to be a great opportunity which I missed. I got the chance and became a part of Samsung’s journey when I saw the South Africa Blogger’s Challenge for the first time on Twitter. From that moment since I always dreamt of participating in the contest and winning the same. The dream came true and I won the first year’s blogger challenge. During the first year when the contest was underway, I got invited to the launch event in Cape Town for Note 4. It was my first trip to the mother city and I thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality of the brand along with the goodies bag they gave during the event containing Level in-earphones. I have attended Samsung S7, Note 5 and Launching People events till date.
Samsung Brand Logo #thelifesway #photoyatra #SouthAfrica
The launch event of Samsung is full of its distributors, employees, VIPs and other media guests. The event is always grand for the niche segment products like Galaxy S and Note series and small ones for other products like Washing Machines, Launching People etc. They also keep on launching their new stores in various locations across the country from time to time. I received a portable mobile charger at the launch of S7edge and for Note 5 they only gave a non-branded 8GB pen drive. The launch event of Note generally happens in the form of a World Tour in Cape Town but for Note 5 it happened locally in Johannesburg. The budget has been cut it seems a lot from the first time when they gave earphones to now when they only gave the 8GB pen drive. That’s the general trend in the technology market and the same was valid for LG Electronics and Sony Mobiles launch events too. I generally remember the launch event with the branded products specially made for the event that you receive from the brand but if you have not received anything you generally feel not as good as with the product. I can’t complain though as I love the experience of getting invited to the events and taking unlimited photographs at the launch.

Samsung has collaborations with some of the top brands (Swarovski, Mont Blanc & many others) around the world to produce accessories for its Galaxy S and Note series of smartphones and phablets. They have tie-ups with Expresso Show and sponsors many TV/online channels and Katlego Maboe is the MC for several of their launch events. They also sponsored Chelsea Football Club for 10 years which ended in 2015. I still have a Samsung’s Chelsea pedometer from London in one of their events to promote the UEFA soccer championships. They have also been sponsoring Winter Olympics since 1998. I have been seeing the whole arrivals sections covered in Samsung’s Galaxy series of smartphones advertisement on O.R.Tambo Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa since my two and half years in this country.
Samung Stores @SamsungSA #MyMallofAfrica #thelifesway #photoyatra
They were the first ones to venture into Gear VR, Gear 360 VR and Gear smartwatches. They are always the front runners to develop and capture the markets as soon as possible. They invest a lot of money in the research and development of new products. With the latest launch scheme from Galaxy S7 and S7 edge, the Gear VR will reach a lot of African households. The S7 phone is capable of shooting videos that are suitable to see on the Gear VR provided with the smartphone.

Samsung is different from other brands in terms of not launching the lite versions of the top niche products like LG have G4 Beat, Huawei having P8/P9 Lite, Sony Z3/Z5 Compact and even Apple having iPhone SE or iPhone 5C. They have different series altogether targeting youth and middle-market segment going by the name of J and A series of Galaxy smartphones. Maybe in the future based on the worldwide response towards the lite/compact series we might see the compact versions of the full-featured Galaxy S series of smartphones.

Samsung is very fast to adapt to the changing markets as they have the might and flexibility to spend and create the right opportunity as they want. I bought my first Samsung LCD TV in India way back in 2008 when everyone was going for Sony Bravia TVs. I again bought another Samsung LCD TV in 2013 for my parent’s room because I was so impressed by my LCD TV. I have the luxury of Samsung’s Mirrorless camera NX300 which takes great low light photographs and Series 6 - 65” UHD TV bringing me the visual pleasures that no other TV can bring.

I know how much I have worked to get both of them and once their PR Company told me that I am their unofficial brand ambassador. Though I am not using any of their smartphones I simply adore the Note phablet series by the brand. I loved my seven days with Note4 and two weeks with S6 and S7 smartphones and once with Samsung's Tab4 Tablet. Check out the several images posted on my Instagram handle and 1000 of tweets going out for the brand along with 30+ blog posts for the brand. All the work done is totally free of cost as I wanted to reach a point in my blogging life where other brands want me to work for them. This happened and brought me great opportunities from India in 2015 to help me buy Nikon SB-900 flash for my DSLR camera. I am still looking for opportunities here in South Africa to get day-to-day gadgets to use and keep and in return, I will hashtag the brand sponsoring the same. I would love to have Note 5 as my primary gadget if sponsored by Samsung South Africa.

Cheers!!!

@SonyXperiaZA Launched Xperia XA Ultra #Selfie Smartphone #XperiaXLegend #eXperience

Hi Guys,

Sony Mobile Communications announced a new addition to the revamped Xperia X series with the stylish selfie-cam masterpiece, Xperia XA Ultra. Its large 6” screen, 16MP front camera, low-light sensor, up to two days battery life and stylish thin design with a borderless screen makes it a fantastic mid-range smartphone for every need.
Sony Xperia XA Smartphone #thelifesway #photoyatra
Boasting an advanced selfie cam, it captures the perfect pose day or night. This is made possible by its 16MP front camera and Sony’s renowned low-light sensors. The Sony camera technology used in the Xperia XA Ultra helps achieve sharp, bright, blur-free shots every time and features a smart selfie flash to naturally illuminate a face for night scene selfies. It benefits additionally from the Optical Image Stabilisation system to counter hand shake for both photos and videos. Taking a selfie is made even easier with the Hand Shutter feature. All it takes is raising a hand and the shutter timer will start to count down, leaving enough time to make the perfect pout and strike a pose. Capturing the perfect spontaneous shot is also possible with the super-fast main camera, featuring 21.5 megapixels, Sony's exceptional Hybrid Autofocus and quick launch and capture so one can go from standby to capture in a fraction of a second.
Sony Xperia XA Smartphone #thelifesway #photoyatra Camera
Fitting beautifully in the hand, the infinity-feel borderless 6-inch Full HD display with curved glass is encased by a metal surround that creates a seamless feel. Despite the large screen, the Xperia XA Ultra's razor thin design and One-handed Operation Mode means it sits comfortably in one hand.

The Xperia XA Ultra might have a big, bright display, but that doesn’t compromise the Sony battery standard. It still gets up to 2-days of battery life from a single charge, leaving more time to chat, snap and watch. When the need comes for a quick battery top-up, the Xperia XA Ultra coupled to the Quick Charger UCH12 will get 5.5 hours of battery life in just 10 minutes. Additionally, with integrated Qnovo adaptive charging technology the lifetime of the battery is extended so over time one gets much more use out of the device.

This breakthrough model comes on the heels of Sony Mobile Communications' announcement of the appointment of Mr. Jason Smith as its new Vice-President for the Middle East and Africa, effective 1st of April 2016. A consummate Sony professional, Mr. Jason Smith has been part of the Sony Corporation for the past 16 years, spearheading different markets in Asia and South Africa. The new Vice-President's focus will be to develop further the partnerships with operators and distribution partners throughout the region, while continuing to strengthen Sony Mobile Communications' business in the Middle East and Africa markets.

Looking forward to review the device once the local launch date and price is released by Sony Mobiles.

Hi Guys,

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd announced its latest additions to the Galaxy family of products, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. Created for today's consumer lifestyle, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge lead the industry with a more refined design, advanced camera, streamlined software functionality and unparalleled connectivity to a galaxy of products and services.
“We believe in a world that is brighter, sharper, more convenient and fun. We strive to deliver on that vision with the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge by marrying elegant look with functionality and providing a seamless mobile experience,” said Craige Fleischer, Director of Integrated Mobility at Samsung Electronics South Africa. “We are committed to empowering our consumers with groundbreaking technological solutions, in order to enhance the user experience of our products.”

Advanced Camera: High Quality Images No Matter the Time of Day or Location
The Galaxy S7 range introduces the first Dual Pixel camera on a smartphone, delivering brighter and sharper images, even in low light. Thanks to the revolutionary Dual Pixel technology, the lens has a wider aperture and larger pixel, the camera has a faster shutter speed and a more accurate autofocus even in low-light conditions. Motion Panorama, a new camera mode, brings movement to traditional panoramic photos, giving the user a completely visually appealing understanding.
Refined Design and Function
The 5.1-inch Galaxy S7 and 5.5-inch Galaxy S7 edge are constructed with 3D glass and metal – all in a sleek design with durability and ergonomic curves for a comfortable grip. From work to play, the device’s new Always-On Display, gives consumers a simplified, zero touch capability where they don’t need to worry about missing a call or important notification.

Without compromising design, the devices both have increased utility with IP68 water and dust resistance. Edge UX, the advanced edge available on Galaxy S7 edge, provides convenience and increased efficiency by creating easy shortcuts to users’ most loved functions such as email, selfie mode, panorama mode or third party applications.

Enhanced Performance: From Charging to Gaming
Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge delivers fast wired and wireless charging technology. Additionally, the hybrid SIM card tray allows users to insert a microSD card for up to 200GB of extra storage and in some select regions, the tray can be used with a dual SIM card.
Samsung made significant hardware and software updates to optimise gaming performance on Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge. The powerful processer and bigger battery capacity ensure longer playing time, and the internal cooling system keeps the device from overheating. Game Launcher, a new add-on for gamers, allows users to manage battery consumption and minimize notifications. Additionally, users can record their gaming practice or share their screen to challenge others. Paired with Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, Vulkan API gives users the ability to play high-performance graphic games with lower battery consumption.

The Galaxy Experience
Samsung continues to challenge the limits of hardware, software and services to create devices that are designed to improve how consumers connect, share, organise and get more out of life. The company is redefining what is possible, past the restrictions of today’s technology, by introducing a constellation of seamless mobile experiences.
Whether it’s the seamless connection between Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge and the new Gear S2 Classic to monitor fitness, or connecting with Gear VR to “travel” the world – Samsung redefines what’s possible for the use of mobile solutions.

Beyond the phone, Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users can also get the best mobile payment service with Samsung Pay; it’s secure, easy-to-use and accepted almost anywhere. Protected by Samsung KNOX, fingerprint scanning and advanced tokenization, Samsung Pay works with NFC (Near Field Communication), MST (Magnetic Secure Transmission) and Barcode technology, making mobile payments available to more merchants and consumers than ever before.

“At Samsung, we are relentless in our pursuit for excellence and our philosophy, is making meaningful designs that capture attention and inspire our customers. The beautiful story behind the innovation of our mobile products is centered on putting the customer first and that’s keeping us ahead of the pack,” concluded Fleischer.

LG's G5 Smartphone Wins 33 Awards #MWC2016 @LGSouthAfrica

Hi Guys,

LG Electronics unveiled globally its highly anticipated LG G5 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona on 22 February 2016. The world’s best mobile event of the year can be summarized as attracting over 100,000 attendees, from 204 countries and covered by more than 3600 members of the international press and media. LG Electronics amassed a total of 33 awards at the MWC 2016 including the event’s top honor, Best Mobile Handsets & Devices Award, securing status as the most honored company at the show. The wins highlighted the Modular Type innovation behind LG’s latest flagship smartphone, the LG G5 and Friends, demonstrating LG brand strength and equity. Life’s Good When You Play More can definitely be said for LG as G5 fortifies the LG brand in equity and strength.

The flagship G5 offers a brand new design with a sleek, metal uni-body featuring a Slide-out Battery and a Modular Type design that gives a greater smartphone experience. Complete with LG Friends, a collection of companion devices, the G5 can be transformed into a digital camera, Hi-Fi player and more. The G5 measures 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7mm, and is not curved like its predecessor, it is smaller and easier to hold thanks to its 5.3-inch display. LG has retained the microSD card slot and removable battery, even with the metal unibody look, it does this with an innovative new design.

“This year LG focused on the design and user experience instead of packing just the latest tech available on the G5,” said Deon Prinsloo, General Manager for LG Mobile South Africa. “The G5 is an ideal example of how the best optimized technologies come together to meet consumers’ needs, catapulting the LG brand as the best company in bringing intelligent product features, intuitive functionality, and exceptional performance.”
There's more than one LG G5 camera on the back of the phone, and that's exciting news if you ever had to back up in order to properly snap a wide photo. It includes both normal angle and wide angle lenses, reaching as far as 135 degrees, wider than the human eye.

The LG G5 offers many other innovations designed to revolutionize today’s mobile lifestyle, such as:

Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ 3.0
The LG G5 offers Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 for incredibly fast charging. By employing an intelligent algorithm, Quick Charge 3.0 is 27 percent faster and 45 percent more efficient than the previous generation.

Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 Processor
The LG G5 is equipped with the powerful yet energy-efficient Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor that offers advanced features such as 64-bit performance, Adreno 530 graphics and lower-power Hexagon DSP as well as Qualcomm Spectra™ 14-bit dual image signal processors (ISPs) designed to deliver high resolution DSLR-quality images and additional power savings. The Snapdragon 820 processor also has an integrated X12 LTE modem that supports Category 12 download speeds of up to 600 Mbps and LTE Category 13 uplink speeds of up to 150 Mbps.

Compared to the previous Snapdragon 810, Qualcomm Technologies’ most advanced CPU architecture offers double the speed and power savings. Adreno 530 graphics demonstrate up to 40 percent faster graphics performance and up to 40 percent more power efficiency. Snapdragon 820 supports 4K capture and playback at four times more than the resolution of 1080p, enabling users to watch and capture their daily moments in stunning detail and clarity. The processor is also optimized for VR, generating quality pixels and life-like colors to deliver the ultimate VR experience to G5 users.

Looking forward to the phone to be launched in South Africa and check out these amazing new powerful performance features.

Cheers!!!

Precautions to keep Data Safe in case of Stolen Mobile #HTCOneLifeSA

Hi Guys,

Smartphones are easily stolen or lost, which means that it’s important to take the appropriate steps to improve the security of your device and data. Here are some tips on how you can keep your information safe from prying eyes if your smartphone ends up in a stranger’s hands:

1. Set a screen lock
A screen lock is designed to help to protect your personal information and prevent others from using your mobile device without your express permission. Most modern smartphone platforms make it easy for you to put a password in place that prevents unauthorized people from accessing your device when the screen is locked. This is the first step towards security.

2. Consider installing a security application
Many mobile apps are available to enhance the security of mobile devices. These security-related apps are often available for free or at a low price and can provide the capability to remotely lock, locate, or wipe your device.

3. Back up your data
You probably keep valuable information on your smartphone, including photos, videos, and contacts, so backing up your data in case your smartphone is lost, damaged, or stolen is a good practice.

4. Set a SIM PIN
Many devices support the use of a personal identification number (PIN) to lock your SIM card. Setting the SIM PIN may help to prevent people from accessing your cellular voice or mobile data services without authorization. That will help prevent a thief running up your phone bill after he or she has stolen it. This was the biggest problem I faced when he started calling and sending my friends and family random text messages which were vulgar and rude.
What to do if your device is lost or stolen
  • Report the loss to your mobile network as soon as possible: If your device is lost or stolen, immediately notify your provider so that they can suspend service to your device.
  • Remotely locate, lock, or wipe your device using a security app: If you have installed a security app you may be able to use it to remotely locate, lock, or wipe your device.
  • Report phone theft to the police - If your phone has been stolen, you must report the theft of your device to your local police department. This is a legal requirement of the Regulation of Interception of Communication and Provision of Communication-Related Information Act 2002, better known as RICA. You will probably also need a police case number if you planning to claim from insurance.
Take precautions to keep the mobile away from the display while driving on the highway or in town at robots. It's important as we don't remember anything these days as we have a habit to keep the device as our personal assistant with calendar, meetings, apps, mobile numbers and important goals. Also, always look behind on the seats you were sitting before leaving any location whether it's office, movie theater, restaurants or any other place you visit for the first time to keep a tab on your phone.

Cheers!!!

A Smartphone to “See the Great, Feel the Beat” @LGMobileSA #G4BeatSA

Hi Guys,

LG Mobile has acquired a reputation for being an industry pioneer, offering solid mobile electronic options to consumers across the market spectrum. The launch of their latest offering, the LG G4 Beat ‘accessible-premium’ device, is testament to this and gives a great competition to the market in it's segment. All the mobile manufactures this year are launching three range of devices - main, compact and premium or phablet types and so does LG with it's main G4, compact as G4 Beat and phablet as G4 Stylus coming soon too.
LG took an emphatically human-centric approach by focusing on what many consumers actually look for in a smartphone; a great looking design, color rich display and a picture perfect camera for taking photos on the go. As a result the Korean manufacturer has delivered a device that is an every-day champion, creating what they believe is the critical success factor - a “Great Visual Experience”.
LG G4 Beat is a stylish, high-performance, smartphone that takes inspiration from the premium design of the G4, positioned in the ‘mid-tier’ from a price point perspective, but emphatically premium as a package. The LG G4 Beat lives up to its positioning of “Uncompromised but Premium”

The LG G4 Beat with its well-balanced specifications may arguably pass off as a high-end smartphone that I need to check on an actual review device once I get the same. Offering an 8-megapixel autofocus rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera, the G4 Beat has been designed to respond to the selfie phenomenon with the bespoke Gesture and Gesture Interval Shot features. It is powered by an octa-core, 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor paired with a 1.5GB RAM and includes an internal storage of 8GB and LG UX 4.0 – operating on Android Lollipop 5.1.1.

The 5.2 inch full HD in-cell zero gap touch display creates a slimmer look while maximising the display area and minimising bezel width. By bringing images closer to the screen, the in-cell touch displays offers improved sensitivity with faster touch recognition, better outdoor visibility and sharper images.

Although more compact than its parent model, it has one of the most ergonomic shapes found on any phone on the market. The gently curved display with advanced metallic skin on the back is the most comfortable form of both viewing and holding a device, providing equal distance from all parts of the display to the eyes that allows no distortion. In order to maximize consumer value, LG Mobile will supply the G4 Beat with an additional ‘genuine leather’ back-cover in the box, through December 2015, further enhancing the premium positioning and the G4 Family DNA which is really cool by the way as this really enhances the look of the smartphone.
Notable features reminiscent of the parent flagship includes Manual Mode which allows users take professional looking pictures by manually setting the white balance, shutter speed and ISO; Gesture Interval Shot; a Colour Spectrum Sensor and Laser Autofocus. I really loved this feature as it gives you access to all the setting on the screen and you can play with them to create your perfect shot without any post-processing of the photograph. The 2,300mAh removable battery also keeps the G4 Beat running through a full day of normal use. The LG G4 Beat will be available to local consumers in end August and I am really looking forward to get a review unit soon.

Cheers!!!

Product Review - HUAWEI Mobile WiFi E5220

Hi Guys,

Internet is what keeps us connected and data is what we are paying for to the telecom companies to stay connected. Smartphones are capable these days with Dual SIM to keep you connected to calls as well as data bundles. I am still using a single SIM mobile phone and data bundles along with calls is very expensive package. I bought only data bundle deal and was searching for something to convert that SIM card to wifi connection. I was using my old Nexus One mobile phone as a portable hotspot but with change to a particular telecom connection, it stopped working as one.
I bought Huawei Mobile WiFi E5220 and was very much impressed by the device. The device was easy to setup and takes your regular SIM to connect to your telecom provider. E5220 comes in white and black colors and is less than 30gm in weight. The package contains the main device, rechargeable battery (1150mAh), USB cable to charge the device. You can also use your mini-USB cable to charge the device.
Huawei E5220 can connect upto 10 Wi-Fi enabled connections at the same time with devices like tablets, smartphones, laptop and every device which has wifi receiver built into it. LED light display gives you information about the device in use and connection range just like mobile bars. The device can be switched on from the power button on the front of the device. The battery is replaceable and gives upto 4 hours of continuous wifi connection. On my regular usage after using it for 4 months, the battery life has decreased to about 2-3 hours on continuous switched ON. Also sometimes the device hangs and can't be switched on-off then you need to remove the battery and restart the device for a stable connection.
The best part is that it can be carried anywhere in your pockets and stay always connected to the internet upto the speed of HSDPA 21.6Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps. The device has internal antenna but sometimes in the basement floors or parking, it doesn't work on the same network based on your telecom providers range. The LED indicators are for Signal, Wi-Fi, Battery and Messages. Signal strength is shown by Green, orange and Red in decreasing order of reception. Battery strength is shown as Green, Blinking Green (charging) and Red as low battery.
The wifi device has the same password which is written on the inside of the back cover and can be shared with your family easily. But there is a process to change the same in case someone is using or abusing your expensive data connection. Go to the web management page (http://192.168.1.1) and you can change your SSID and wireless network encryption key using the username and password as admin. Huawei has a Mobile Wifi app also which can control various settings related  to the actual device like battery power remaining, SMS and various other reports on data consumed etc. The device has a RESET button to restore it to factory default settings.
