The New Standard in #Smartphone #HuaweiMate8 Technology @HuaweiZA

Hi Guys,

The standard for high-spec smartphones was raised when Huawei unveiled its latest top-of-the-range device - the Mate 8 in South Africa. The defining feature of the Mate 8 is its ability to unleash its powerful features without sacrificing battery life. The 4000mAh high-capacity battery provides more than one-and-a-half days of heavy use, nearly two-and-a-half days of regular use and an astounding 22 days' standby time. This allows for 17 hours of continuous HD video, or web navigation for 20 hours. This was the most prevalent feature across all the displays on the experience zone at the launch event.

“The Mate 8 is evidence that style, processing power and groundbreaking innovation can co-exist in harmony with long battery life,” says Charlene Munilall, General Manager for Huawei Consumer Business Group SA.

The phone’s 6-inch Full HD screen boasts a 1500:1 contrast ratio that delivers a crisp display thanks to the 2,5D diamond cut glass screen encased in a super-slim metallic uni-body that is a mere 7,9mm deep and weighs 185g. Powered by a brand-new Kirin 950 chipset that features TSMC’s 16 nm FinFET Plus chip technology, the octa-core processor is made up of four A72 2.3 GHz cores and four A53 1.8 GHz cores. The phone does feel light weight as compared to Mate 7 launched last year.

The Mate 8 is the world’s first smartphone to use the latest Cortex-A72 CPU and high-performance Mali-T880 GPU. The revolutionary i5 intelligent processor is the most powerful coprocessor currently available and supports all the functions of a sensor hub as well as speech recognition, low-power consumption, MP3 playback, Fused Location Provider (FLP) navigation, and reduces location-based power consumption by nearly 70%. This feature I need to test once I have the device in my hands but on paper this seems very responsive.

While close attention to detail is evident in the outer shell, it is the Mate 8’s powerful melding of hardware and software enhancements that really make it shine. I would love to take the device everywhere if I have one.

“The Mate 8’s industry-leading power efficiency not only has exceptional staying power, but is equipped with rapid charging technology that also allows for a full day’s power to be changed in just 30 minutes. Also, the new chipset delivers significant improvements over the A57 processor, offering 11% better performance, 20% less power consumption and a 30% improvement in energy efficiency,” Munilall says.

The Mate 8 user experience is paramount to the success of a smartphone, and Huawei has incorporated its Knuckle Sense feature into the Mate 8 that takes gesture control to a new level. Apart from simple functions such as taking and sharing screenshots, the Mate 8 features productivity enhancements such as the split-screen mode that supports multitasking.

Similar attention to the user experience is evident in the Mate 8’s camera, which has been built on top of Sony’s IMX 298, 16MP stackable image sensor. This hardware is enhanced by Huawei’s proprietary image sensor processor for faster focusing, higher clarity, and more accurate colour representation.

Image quality is enhanced further with Huawei’s Optical Image Stabilisation technology that uses intelligent light level monitoring and anti-shake technology to create sharp, bright, and detailed images in low-light conditions.

The host of processing power enhancements is the engine that drives Huawei’s redesigned EMUI 4.0 interface that provides its unique user experience on top of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

“This is made possible by Huawei’s proprietary SmartPower technology that optimises the allocation of the phone’s resources, with its 'Heart Beat' smart power-saving feature continuously scanning background apps to reduce their power consumption when not in use. The Mate 8 also features advanced six-layer thermal mechanics that provides higher heat dissipation, leading to an excellent handling experience and lower power consumption,” says Munilall

The Mate 8 has not ignored its primary purpose of connecting its users through an unparalleled voice and data quality. It supports FDD-LTE, TDD-LTE, WCDMA, TD-SCDMA, GSM, CDMA2000, and CDMA networks for global roaming, and is equipped with a dual SIM slot. The Mate 8 has a built-in HiSilicon RF chip, which supports more channels and bands than any other chip. It can maximally support 5 2G channels/10 3G channels/18 4G channels and 1334 carrier net parameters from 217 countries and areas.

Mobile data connectivity is supported through it ultra-fast Cat 6 4G LTE connectivity that provides download speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s.

“We believe that the Mate 8 is a high-end device that not only represents the new style of business but comes with the elegance that is expected of Huawei. The Mate 8 is available in three colours champagne gold, moonlight silver and sky grey with a 32GB and 64GB version of the device,” concludes Munilall.

I am just waiting for the Universe to issue me one #HuaweiMate8 on my name and I will be happy for a while till the time I can say that #8isbetterthan7.

Cheers!!!

@HuaweiZA #HuaweiMate8 Started Doing Business in #SouthAfrica

Hi Guys,

The latest addition to Huawei’s premier smartphone range, the Mate 8, was unveiled to an expectant audience on 7 April 2016 at Studio Blu in Fourways. The who’s who of the mobile device industry gathered at the glittering event fit for this first-class device, that seamlessly integrates design excellence with an unsurpassed user experience.

“The Mate 8 represents the pinnacle of style, innovation and ground-breaking technology that introduces a new style of business,” said Charlene Munilall, General Manager for Huawei Consumer Business Group SA. “The Mate 8 has set a new standard in style that transcends its beautifully-crafted exterior to deliver a mobile companion that meets the needs of today’s always-connected and sharing user.”

Dancers Introducing MATE 8
Encased in a super-slim metallic uni-body, the 6-inch Full HD screen is the first indicator of the brilliance of this user-centric smartphone. The diamond cut glass screen produces a vivid display that brings photos, videos and games to life like never before. This visual experience is enhanced by the intuitive user experience built on Huawei’s revamped Emotion UI 4.0 that brings out the best in the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

Coupled with the industry’s largest screen in the 6” category, the first commercial application of the ARM Cortex A72 chipset, unsurpassed battery life and new security and encryption features immediately set the Mate 8 apart from competitors.
Delivering such an immersive user experience is more than catered for by the all-new Kirin 950 chipset that delivers powerful performance and low power consumption. The responsiveness of the Mate 8 is certainly one of its outstanding features, whether browsing the web, watching videos, or launching apps.

Stage @HuaweiZA #HuaweiMate8 #thelifesway #photoyatra
“The Mate 8 processing power is not at the expense of its battery life and usability. With an impressive 4000mAh high-capacity battery that offers more than one-and-a-half days of heavy use, nearly two-and-a-half days of regular use and an astounding 22 days' standby time. Should the need arise, you can watch 17 hours of continuous HD video, or navigate the web non-stop for 20 hours,” adds Munilall.

This is possible because of Huawei’s proprietary SmartPower technology that optimises the allocation of the Mate 8’s resources. One of the key components of this technological breakthrough is the 'Heart Beat' smart power-saving feature that continuously scans apps to determine the optimum ratio between power usage and performance that cuts the power consumption by background apps by half.
With the advantage of these intelligent power saving options, Mate 8 users will be thrilled by the vast improvements and features that have been built into the smartphone’s camera.

Drawing on the superior performance and size of the Sony 16MP sensor, Huawei has upped the smartphone camera stakes by adding its proprietary image sensor processor for faster focusing, higher clarity, and more accurate colours. This new Image Sensor Processor delivers stunningly vivid images, which are improved further by the built-in Optical Image Stabilisation that uses intelligent light level monitoring and anti-shake technology to create unbelievably sharp, bright, and detailed images in low-light conditions.

These features are harnessed to introduce the Continuous Capture function that allows you to shoot 100 burst shots at 12 frames per second to capture images of fast-moving objects. Or, if you prefer to go in the opposite direction to express your creativity, the Mate 8 now features a Slow Motion mode for shooting high-definition videos that are rendered at one-quarter speed.

The impressive rear-camera functions are matched by the 8MP, wide-angle front-facing camera that introduce new dimensions in high-quality selfies.
“The Mate 8 would not be complete without a feature that has become synonymous with this popular series from Huawei - the fingerprint sensor. Located on the back of they smartphone body, this security feature that unlocks the phone has been re-designed for enhanced performance to more accurately match the shape of a finger, while decreasing the depth of the sensor to improve recognition accuracy and speed,” says Munilall.

Security on the Mate 8 is enhanced even further with the in-built, real-time encryption/decryption that provides protection of all information, while the microSD card lock feature prevents unauthorised access to information stored on this storage device.

Speed of use has also been enhanced with the update Knuckle Sense feature that was introduced by Huawei last year in the P8 smartphone. This gesture feature allows users to take partial or full screenshots with the tap of a knuckle and share with friends, record video or control a multitude of apps in a unique and intuitive way.

The Huawei Mate 8 is available in four eye-catching colours: champagne gold, moonlight silver, sky grey, and mocha brown. Two versions - 32GB and 64GB - are provided, each with a dual-SIM slot and are compatible with 2G, 3G and 4G data connection standards.

“We are proud that we are able to offer our discerning consumers a device that we believe delivers on innovation, style and functionally. The Mate 8 is truly the device that meets the needs of a new style of business,” concludes Munilall.

The device really looks great and is light weight, moreover the camera takes amazingly sharp images instantly. I am really looking forward to have a device in my hands soon.

Cheers!!!

Huawei, global leading company in ICT and telecommunication solutions, announces Lionel Messi’s appointment as the latest Global Brand Ambassador to the company. The partnership with Lionel Messi showcases the brand’s alignment with people and brands that demonstrate, and strive towards its shared value of connecting greatness.

Challenges test our desire to achieve what we want and love. To connect with greatness, we have to value the growth, learning, experiences and struggles as the parts of our story that took us where we are now. Those who understand that are always pursuing not success but challenges, to be better. That is what makes Huawei and Lionel Messi a perfect fit.

“Lionel Messi will help our brand to encourage people to focus, persevere and breakthrough; to connect with greatness, especially in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, where Huawei puts great devotions. We both honor the path we walked to what we have achieved, and with each new challenge we renew our commitment to find the path to success.” said, Kevin Ho, President, Handset Business, Huawei Consumer BG.

“We are happy to announce our collaboration with an extraordinary individual who inspires people all over the world to pursue their dreams, to face challenges to become better with each day. A man who shares a lot of the same values with the Huawei brand and who is always looking for opportunities to reach greatness.” said Tyrone Liu, CEO Consumer Business Group for Huawei Latin America.

Huawei believes that sports are a great way in which people enrich their lives and that is why our commitment towards sports in general, and football in particular, is so strong. In the last few years, we have invested in several teams – like the América, Santa Fe, Sporting Cristal, Arsenal, Atlético de Madrid and the AC Milan – that inspire people all over the world and in players who we believe share our brand values such as Robert Lewandowski and Alexis Sánchez, and now Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi said: “You have to fight to reach your dream. You have to sacrifice and go all in, always looking forward to achieving greatness. The day you think there are no improvements to be made, you have to keep working for reaching other achievements.”

Huawei Introduces the Mate 8 Globally @HuaweiZA #Smartphone #CES2016

Hi Guys,

At CES 2016, the Huawei Consumer Business Group globally launched the Huawei Mate 8 smartphone, a productivity-driven device with significantly enhanced power, efficiency and battery life. The Mate 8 continues Huawei’s track record of delivering high-end devices that reflect global consumer demand and inspire loyalty in their users.

Featuring the most powerful chipset, a high-capacity battery and stylish design – including a unique mocha brown color option – the Huawei Mate 8 is the ideal smartphone for today’s on-the-go professional. The Mate 8 is designed from the ground-up for productivity and its hardware and software have been fine-tuned to provide an elegant, efficient experience.

“With the Mate 8, we have delivered a device that meets the needs of a new style of business. With this fast, impeccably designed smartphone, users can work more efficiently and free up valuable time to spend with friends, family and on personal pursuits,” said Kevin Ho, President, Handset Business, Huawei Consumer BG. “The Mate 8 is the ultimate high-end smartphone. It strikes the perfect balance between high performance and long battery life, enabling people to stay connected and be more productive in every facet of their lives.”

“Professional smart phone users have a lack of choice when it comes to devices that meet their requirements. We have tried to keep this in mind when positioning the Mate 8. It is perfectly suited to business users with its large battery, super efficient rapid charging, large screen and additional security features. In the New Year, work life balance and increased productivity is what we wish for all our mate users,” added Charlene Munilall, General Manager, Huawei Consumer Business Group SA.

Designed for Performance and Efficiency
With new groundbreaking hardware, the Mate 8 is the first smartphone to run the Kirin 950 chipset, with CPU boosting power up 100 percent, GPU performance up 125 percent, and power efficiency up 70 percent compared to the Kirin 925. The device’s architecture balances energy efficiency with high-end performance through 4 x A72 2.3 GHz processors and 4 x A53 1.8 GHz processors.

Equipped with a 4000mAh high-density battery, the Mate 8 delivers industry-leading power efficiency offering over two days of normal usage. And with rapid charging technology, the phone is able to charge a day’s worth of power in just 30 minutes. In fact, regular users can go without charging their phone for 2.36 days, and heavy users can go without charging for 1.65 days. The Mate 8 also features advanced six-layer thermal mechanics, which allows higher heat dissipation, leading to an excellent handling experience and lower power consumption.

Built for Productivity
Running on Huawei’s EMUI 4.0, based on Android Marshmallow 6.0, the Huawei Mate 8 offers hundreds of user experience tweaks and improvements, including a built-in automatic defragmentation service that continues optimizing system performance. Additionally, the Mate 8 features a split-screen mode that enables enhanced multitasking between apps.

Smart and Secure

The Huawei Mate 8 introduces a new generation of fingerprint security with enhanced protection technology. The circular fingerprint sensor improves the effective identification area by 10 percent. In addition, the fingerprint friction ridge matching has three levels of security, providing a higher level of protection for users. The new sensor design also increases the unlock speed by 100 percent.

The Mate 8 maintains two sets of fingerprint interface standards to improve smartphone payment experiences—the Fast Identity Online (FIDO) and Android M standards. The strong CPU also supports real-time encryption of full storage for better data protection. The Mate 8 provides a microSD card lock, preventing anyone from accessing content in the card without a password. If a phone is stolen, user data cannot be obtained.

Stunning Photography
Huawei invested $98 million over three years to develop the first proprietary image sensor processor for faster focusing, higher clarity, and more accurate color shading. A leading research team was assembled in France to increase the processing speed of the camera, resulting in increasing the process bandwidth by four times with 14-bit precision.

In addition, the Mate 8 adopts the revolutionary, all-new Sony 16MP IMX298, increasing the sensor size by 23 percent for breathtaking images. The Mate 8 also features an 8 MP front camera with a new beauty algorithm for taking the perfect selfie.

Efficient Conferencing
The Huawei Mate 8 features “Super Hands-Free 3.0” technology that enables hands-free operations in a variety of environments. Whether you’re in a car, a conference room or at a crowded party, users can enjoy clear conversations from up to 3 meters away. With a 120 degree range of audio pick up and directional noise reduction mode, conference calls are crisper and clearer than ever before, no matter where they take place.

The Mate 8 features omnidirectional recording and directional playback. Three microphones automatically detect sound sources and record voices from all directions. During playback, people can choose any direction of the sound source they want to hear. Additionally, the Mate 8 provides document readjustment camera mode, which automatically straightens images that are captured at an angle for better viewing.

Globally Connected
The Mate 8 supports global connectivity and more bands than any other dual-SIM phone, including four 2G bands, nine 3G bands and 18 4G bands in 217 countries and regions with 1,334 operator settings. This makes it the perfect device for the global business traveler.

Beautifully Crafted
The Mate 8 features a refined, elegant design that highlights its beautiful 6-inch high contrast display. With a leading 83 percent screen-to-body ratio, the phone is able to stay sleek and compact without sacrificing a large display. The 2.5D curved diamond cut glass and aerospace grade aluminum metal are joined seamlessly, giving the device a blend of beauty and practicality.

The Huawei Mate 8 will be initially available in 30 countries including: Spain, Germany, France, United Arab Emirates, Mexico and Australia. The device will cost 599 euros for 3GB +32GB and 699 euros for 4GB + 64GB. It is available in four elegant colors: champagne gold, moonlight silver, space gray and mocha brown.

“We’re delighted to also announce that from an ESA point of view we’re planning to launch the Mate 8 in March this year, at the same time across nearly 20 of all our main African markets such as South Africa, Kenya, Angola, Uganda, Tanzania, Congo, Zambia, Mauritius and many more. Pricing will be confirmed closer to launch,” concluded Munilall.

@HuaweiZA - A #Brand To Watchout For In 2016 #Smartphones

Hi Guys,

The Huawei Consumer Business Group announced it has shipped over 100 million smartphones worldwide in 2015, cementing its position as one of the top three consumer device companies in the world. Over the last five years, shipments of Huawei's smartphones have increased more than 3,000 percent, from 3 million in 2010 to 100 million in 2015. This year’s performance represents an important achievement as Huawei continues to grow and launch several global flagship devices each year that are focused on the premium market and integrate the best in creativity, design, fashion, photography and performance.
Steady Growth in Smartphone Shipment
“Huawei’s success is not accidental. These results directly reflect the consumer demand for our products, and we’re proud to deliver premium smartphone devices to people around the world,” said Kevin Ho, President, Huawei Consumer Business Group Handset product line. “The smartphone landscape is constantly changing as people look for devices that let them extend the boundaries of what’s possible. We look forward to continued growth in 2016 as we expand our product portfolio and partner with some of the world’s top brands to bring the best devices to market.”

In 2015 Huawei recorded a 30 percent increase in its mid-to-high-end smartphone shipments, including:
  • Through September, 4 million P8 smartphone shipments, 7.5 million P7 smartphone shipments, and 6.5 million Mate 7 smartphone shipments.
  • Huawei’s Nexus 6P smartphone made in collaboration with Google, which made headway in North America.
This success is a result of Huawei’s extensive research and development efforts, diversification across markets, omni-channel strategy and the brand loyalty inspired by its products.

Research and Development:
Huawei’s expansive R&D efforts set the standard for the most unique and innovative consumer devices to hit the market in 2014. Last year Huawei invested 14.2 percent ($6.3 billion USD) of its annual revenue in R&D while securing 76,687 patents, 18,000 of which apply to Huawei devices. Huawei has established 16 research laboratories in various countries including China, Germany, Sweden, Russia and India. Each R&D center is chosen for a strategic purpose. For example, Huawei’s research institute in Japan focuses on materials and technology, utilizing Japan’s spirit of pursuing perfection. In Paris, Huawei collaborates with the Paris Aesthetics Center to consult French luxury designers to ensure its smartphones reflect the most cutting-edge fashion trends. With R&D as its foundation, Huawei has achieved an important balance constantly improving its product concept, hardware architecture and EMUI user interface.

Diversification and Omni-channel Strategy:
2015 marked a significant shift in Huawei’s market strategy. While Huawei experienced excellent results in the mid-to-low-end market, this year it launched a series of premium smartphone to expand its portfolio into the high-end market, attracting attention from consumers across the globe. To meet the growing demand for Huawei devices, Huawei established over ten thousand experience centers and franchised stores in China and will open 1,000 additional stores in 2016. By leveraging brick-and-mortar establishments where consumers can hold and try using the devices, quality online and offline retailers and streamlined distribution channels, Huawei is expanding the reach of its devices to people everywhere.

Looking Forward:
Huawei employs the world’s most elite engineers and developers to deliver exceptional results. Driven by their passion for perfection, the Huawei team works tirelessly to provide consumers with the best experience and develop products that are truly worth pursuing. 2015 signifies an important milestone for Huawei, with its record-breaking domestic smartphone shipments and recognition as a top-three smartphone brand worldwide. Huawei is confident that it will continue to disrupt the global smartphone market in 2016. For more information, please visit: http://consumer.huawei.com/cn
