Hi Friends,

I am been a fan of music and due to which I am a huge collector of earphones and headphones along with various types of MP3 players and devices. I have all the devices or used to have all the devices from Sony Walkman to Sony MP3 CD players to the latest Apple iPod Shuffles and Nano to even some dodgy local ones from cheaper brands. I am an ardent fan of loading my music - my favorite set of songs into all the devices everywhere - be it in car or smartphone or iPad or laptop. 

The problem I faced with all these devices or the mp3 players is the SHUFFLE mode which is totally outdated even when the new software and technology is still upgraded all the time. No matter which device I use the SHUFFLE mode works in the same patterns, making the same songs appear even when you have 16GB full of songs in different folders. This has troubled me so much that I switched off SHUFFLE play and went on to the Normal play which was much better than the same. 

Do you feel the same pain as I am? or Are you using any player which can take you to all the 1000+ songs before repeating the same one or the pattern? Do let me know in comments below.

Hi Friends, 

Chopsticks movie star casts include Abhay Deol, Mithila Palkar and Vijay Raaz and is directed by Sachin Yardi. The movie was released on 31 May 2019 on Netflix and is 100min long.

The movie showcases the journey of Nirma (played by Mithila) as a Chinese Translator for Taj Lands End for their customers on a trip to India. She is subdued and believes in God and listens to his parents all the time. She doesn't do anything that's off charts and is a sincere student throughout her career. She buys a Hyundai i10 and loses the same on the same evening while parking outside a temple in Mumbai. As she goes to the Police Station, one of the thugs tell her to contact the Artist to help her find her car as on the 3rd day, it will be lost forever.

She goes and meets the Artists played by Abhay Deol who tries to get her car back and that's the story of the movie. He also instills confidence in her and changes her thinking pattern. Mithila has played her character very well bringing the innocence and stubbornness in the right amount. Abhay looks dashing as always and played his role of a Godrej Safes Lock breaker easily along with an amateur Chef. Vijay Raaz plays the Don whose people are in the business of trading stolen cars and his goat Baahubali likes the Nirma's car and is not traded because of the same.

Overall, this movie is a comedy drama which you can enjoy with your family on a Sunday afternoon while having lunch or over some pizza and cold drinks. You will love it because of a no-brainer story and funny moments in the movie. Watch it on your Netflix monthly membership to suit your budgets!

Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians is a Netflix TV series was launched in Mar 2019 and Season 1 consists of 8 episodes. Cricket Fever will bring you all the Indian Premier League action behind the different teams as they start preparing for the IPL seasons every year. I hope there will be 8 seasons to showcase all the IPL teams in the near future.

Cricket Fever takes you on the 2018 IPL journey in India and team which it focusses on is Mumbai Indians. Right from choosing the players and setting the budgets to the actual coming up of the team together to win matches is what this serial is all about. It also gives you a view from the Owners point of view as Akash Ambani takes the top post of Team Manager under the leadership of his mom Nita Ambani (Reliance Industries) for this season.

The episodes also take you on the journey of several Mumbai Indians players and how they reached MI teams in 2018 IPL team. There are a lot of factors which makes and breaks the teams and the biggest among them is the Communication between the team. Head Coach of Mumbai Indians Team - Mahela Jayawardene is caught between meeting the expectations set by Team Owners - Akash and Neeta Ambani and 25 Selected Players to win the season's biggest prize or rather say retaining the IPL Trophy they won last year in 2017 IPL season.

Sachin Tendulkar is the God of Cricket and he supports his local team i.e. Mumbai Indians and Wankhede Stadium which is the home ground of Mumbai Indians Team. The journey to reach Wankhede is not an easy one and it takes a lot of hard work and good luck to get selected amongst the local and international's best to be among the playing 11 in any of the matches of IPL.

The playing team without any injuries and with proper rest is a chess game which selectors and owners and coaches and captain and senior players need to decide on. The coming together as a team rather than focussing on getting red and purple caps is a topmost priority too. Individualism is to be overcome by the Team unison.

I really loved watching 8 episodes as the MI team journey progress through the IPL season 2018 till they get eliminated to reach in Top 4. I could not stop watching back to back and finished the same in just a span of 2 days. It's really a good production with real cricket stars and owners and no actors. Go check it out if you love the most valuable IPL franchise worth more than USD 100 Million.

While innovative technology means that a television may be placed just about anywhere in a home – either turning into a gallery-like piece of art when it’s not being watched or as an integral part of the décor, there is something appealing about a room that is specific to the pieces on the wall and sound of movies or series. Just about any form of entertainment is available online, which means creating a theatre-like experience doesn’t require a whole re-design of a place.

Ahead of planning any interior space, it’s important to first understand what it is primarily to be used for, as well as how many people it will usually need to seat. In a dedicated TV room, the use is already decided; it’s the number of people who will normally be viewed at any given time that then becomes an important factor. Assuming it’s usually a family of six, then, of course, there needs to be adequate seating for each family member. If the family seldom watches together, the layout could be arranged to accommodate just one or two people watching together. If there isn’t really a spare spot in your home, double up with a guest room – all you’ll need to do is use a sleeper couch as the main reclining option.

Lyle Mitchley, Head Product Manager for TV at Samsung South Africa, says, “We’ve come a long way in terms of television design and innovation and while many people want to display their Samsung TV’s, especially the exquisite Frame, a devoted TV room is becoming trendy, giving people the opportunity to design an area that encourages a truly theater-like experience.”

In advance of deciding on the seating for the TV room, consider the way you like to enjoy it. Given you’re more likely to spend your time on a romantic movie late at night, you may prefer to go for a low-slung couch with dreamily soft cushions. If you’re an edge-of-your-seat sports fan, a higher, more solid type seating option could be a better choice.

Symmetry and asymmetry are both integral to the interior design. Finding a focal point is usually the first aspect of planning. When it comes to a TV room, the obvious centerpiece will be the television. The size of the TV will assist in determining what is placed next to it, as well as how furniture fits in front of it. However, the television is positioned, on a TV unit or flush-mounted to the wall; placing either shelves or pieces of décor on either side of it assists in making the room feel cosier, which is the goal of an entertainment room. Asymmetry in design relates to spaces where the focal point isn’t in the middle of a wall, but rather off-centre. The rule of three is helpful in this instance – this means placing two additional items that balance the off-centre focal point, to create a holistic visual. An example of this could be if the TV is to the right of the centre of the wall, two plants, one that’s slightly taller than the top of the TV and one that’s slightly lower, will balance it out. This may well be a set of shelves and a small table that create a vertical balance to the horizontal top of the TV.

Before the advent of sound bars, the television focus could easily be balanced with the large speakers to create a surround-sound experience. But, that’s no longer the case and rather than having electronic décor, softer and more aesthetically pleasing items can be put in place.

“Adding a sound bar to your TV sound is what makes all the difference. For example, the Samsung 500 W 5.1.4 ch has 15 built-in speakers, including four upward-facing drivers and rear wireless speakers that deliver crystal clear sound. Dolby Atmos transports you into what you are watching with moving audio that flows all around you, even from above,” adds Mitchley.

When it comes to audio, the acoustics of a room also become important. This doesn’t mean having to create a sound-proofed interior, though. Instead, simply ensure that interior elements are soft – vibration bounces off hard surfaces, so if there isn’t carpeting in the TV room, include a rug that’ll help absorb the sound waves.

Whatever your viewing habits are, having a space in your home dedicated to entertainment is a wonderful luxury that hugely enhances your enjoyment.

Product Review - Acer C205 LED #Projector @AcerAfrica #TheLifesWay

Acer Africa sent me a LED projector and when I received the bag from the courier guy, I thought they forgot to send the same but as I opened the small pack I really felt grateful for what the technology has to offer to the world. Never had I have seen the projector so small other than those which are built in tablets and handy-cams. I immediately fell in love with the brand and started using the projector right away. 

The first thing I loved about is the size and the projected screen quality the device is able to produce. It hardly weights 300 grams and is shipped with a nice soft cloth leather mixed Acer cover to accommodate and protect the LED projector. The same can be carried around easily in your bag pack or even in your tablet bags. This makes it very easy for professionals and other users to showcase their work in front of many people in a single go. 

The box contains two cables to connect the Acer projector to an Android phone/tablet (MHL Cable - HDMI to micro-USB) and other cable is HDMI to HDMI one. The box also contains the AC to DC power adapter to charge the built-in 3980mAh battery. The great thing about this projector is that you can charge your smartphone too in case required. The battery is enough to stretch through a normal English movie of 95-110 minutes in full charge in ECO mode. 

The MHL cable gives you the possibility to keep it really small as you can just download your presentations in your android or windows mobile and connect your LED projector to showcase your work to your clients anywhere anytime of the day. I loved watching Youtube video's of my favourite TV serials and some of my clicks from the recent holidays on the big wall of my home. I simply attached the Acer projector with the small mobile camera stand and projected on the wall. It was good to setup like that because then the projector is stable and you can simply sit on you bed and watch your content. 

Specification document says that the Acer LED projector Lamp will last for 20000 hours in Normal mode and increases by 50% to 30000 hours in Economy mode which means you can watch unlimited content for the next 3.4 years nonstop. It is amazing value at the price range of R7000-7500 from various online stores in South Africa. 

The brightness that Acer LED Projector is able to produce is 200 lumens which is enough in a dark room or when viewing in the night but your heart wants more brightness when the room is slightly lit and you are projecting bigger than the resolution capability of 1280X800.

The audio capability of the Acer LED projector is 2W stereo output which is good if you are watching in a small room. You can increase or decrease the volumes using the touch panel buttons on the top of the projector. The fan noise is 20db which doen't interrupt the fun you are having watching movies at this LED projector.

The Acer LED projector can be directly charged as well as play using the AC to DC power adapter. Once it's fully charged it easily lasts for about 110-120 minutes of video audio output. The USB port  provided in the rear portion of C205 can also charge your smartphone in case of emergency.

Overall this is awesome buy if you want something handy in the LED projectors and the market has opened up for this kind of small projectors as LG and other companies have also launched the similar kind of products. But I loved Acer Africa's C205 LED Projector and would love to buy it myself. Thanks to Acer for sending the product for review. Looking forward to review some more cool gadgets in the future.

The Future of Television @LGSouthAfrica #OLED

Television is evolving right alongside tablets and smartphones. The innovative televisions of today are built with connectivity at their heart. These TVs are tapping into the endless possibilities offered by the ‘Internet of Things’, by converging all of your technologies into one place. Smart TVs allow you to access the internet and smartphone from the comfort of your own couch.

Similar to Moore’s law is Kurzweil’s Law of Accelerating Returns, which states that the capabilities of technology accelerate exponentially. The law can be clearly observed in the evolution of TV technology. TV in the 1970s was almost identical to TV in the 1950s, differentiated only by the presence of colour. Likewise, TV in the 1990s closely mirrored TV in the 1970s, being primarily distinguished by the addition of VCRs, cable, and video gaming systems as common accessories.

Looking at the slow lurch of technological progress in the latter half of the 20th century, and it is apparent that the pace of change has been dwarfed by the improvements made in the past 15 years alone. The catalyst for these changes began once manufacturers were no longer shackled by the limitations of cathode ray tubes. No longer reliant on bulky tubes, the capabilities of TVs began to grow exponentially. Picture quality drastically improved, screens grew in size and production became more cost-efficient. For the first time, TVs were able to offer with more colors, smaller bezels, and thinner casings.

It’s hard to imagine where television can go from here, but it’s clear that manufacturers are continuing to push the boundaries of what’s possible. LG Electronics, market leaders in consumer electronics unveiled a paper thin OLED television prototype that can be rolled up. Just as cathode ray tubes represented the turning point in television design, the unrivalled picture quality of OLED represents a similar turning point for TV innovation. OLED may prove to be the spark which causes TV technology to explode at an ever increasing rate.

OLED’s superior picture quality and flexibility make it the perfect display format for the next generation of smart devices. From form-fitting wearables and rollable TVs to smart automotive displays and bending mobile phones, OLED technology has the potential to turn sci-fi concepts into reality. The technology that powers OLED continues to improve with each passing day, meaning that the OLED era is even closer than you think.

2016 is set to be a banner year for OLED technology. A strong showing at CES 2016 allowed OLED to establish itself as the leading format for the next generation of televisions. LG’s OLED line won recognition at CES and found its way on to many best-in-show lists. Fortune stated that OLED “has been the best of the best in the television world for the past few years – and it’s not slowing down this year.

This rise in quality of television content has ushered in what critics have called, “The Golden Age of Television”. Critically-acclaimed shows like Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad have convinced viewers across the world that what’s on in their living room is just as exciting as whatever’s showing at the theatre.

Who needs to visit the cinema when today’s Ultra HD TVs and OLEDs can offer comparable levels of quality? Why bother owning a separate stereo system when sound bars take up so much less space and sound just as good? The times are coming where your every breathe will achieve the state of Entertainment Nirvana!

Ant-Man : Sometimes, big heroes start small @SterKinekor #SouthAfrica

The release of Marvel’s latest comic book super-hero, Ant-Man, brings one of the founding members of The Avengers to the big screen for the very first time. The film, just released in the USA, shot to the number one spot at the box office, and grossed US $57.23 million in its opening weekend! Now it’s the turn of super-hero fans across South Africa. Marvel’s Ant-Man also stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip ‘Ti’ Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale and Jordi Mollà as Castillo.

Peyton Reed directs Marvel’s Ant-Man with Kevin Feige producing and Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Edgar Wright and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Marvel’s Ant-Man promises a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure as its blasts its way onto Ster-Kinekor cinemas across South Africa from Friday, 31 July. The running time of the film is 1hr 55 mins, and the classification is still to be confirmed.
