Ant-Man : Sometimes, big heroes start small @SterKinekor #SouthAfrica

The release of Marvel’s latest comic book super-hero, Ant-Man, brings one of the founding members of The Avengers to the big screen for the very first time. The film, just released in the USA, shot to the number one spot at the box office, and grossed US $57.23 million in its opening weekend! Now it’s the turn of super-hero fans across South Africa. From Marvel Studios and director Peyton Reed comes Ant-Man. Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, master thief Scott Lang (aka Ant-Man) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr Hank Pym, to protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world. Having been forced out of his own company by former protégé Darren Cross (Corey Stoll), Dr Pym (Michael Douglas) recruits the talents of Lang (Paul Rudd), a conman just released from prison.

Lang becomes Ant-Man, trained by Pym and armed with a suit that allows him to shrink in size, possess superhuman strength and control an army of ants. The miniature hero must use his new skills to prevent Cross, aka Yellowjacket, from perfecting the same technology and using it as a weapon for evil. Marvel’s Ant-Man also stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Michael Peña as Luis, Judy Greer as Maggie, Tip ‘Ti’ Harris as Dave, David Dastmalchian as Kurt, Wood Harris as Gale and Jordi Mollà as Castillo.

Peyton Reed directs Marvel’s Ant-Man with Kevin Feige producing and Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo, Edgar Wright and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Marvel’s Ant-Man promises a high-stakes, tension-filled adventure as its blasts its way onto Ster-Kinekor cinemas across South Africa from Friday, 31 July. The running time of the film is 1hr 55 mins, and the classification is still to be confirmed.

Disney Interactive announced that the Star Wars™ universe will join Disney, Disney•Pixar and Marvel in Disney Infinity 3.0: Play Without Limits – the latest installment of the best-selling “hybrid toy / video game” of 2014. The Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars™ Starter Pack will be available this spring, and Disney Infinity 3.0 promises to deliver kids and families with a wider breadth of content and variety of gameplay than ever offered from Disney Infinity, including: 

 Three Star Wars™ Play Sets, one set in the timeline of Episodes I-III, the second set during the original trilogy, Episodes IV-VI, and the third available this winter based on Star Wars™: The Force Awakens™

Additional Play Sets offering distinct gameplay and environments, including a Disney•Pixar Play Set based on the upcoming film Inside Out, and a Marvel Play Set featuring Hulkbuster Iron Man, Ultron, and other Marvel character.

The Star Wars™: Twilight of the Republic Play Set takes place in the height of the Jedi’s powers, where players will use the Force™ and Lightsabers™ in epic battles and master their combat skills alongside Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda and Darth Maul. The Star Wars™: Rise Against the Empire Play Set will take players on galaxy-spanning missions with Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca and Darth Vader, piloting X-wing fighters or the Millennium Falcon to fight stormtroopers, or exploring and partaking in land-based missions on planets like Tatooine, Hoth, and Endor. Disney Infinity 3.0 will also introduce an all-new, 3-D Toy Box Hub that will make it easier for players to choose from a wider selection of gameplay experiences - including platform, racing, and farming simulation games. Disney Infinity 3.0: Play Without Limits is being developed by Avalanche Software in partnership with Ninja Theory, Sumo Digital, Studio Gobo and United Front Games, and will be available for the PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment systems, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system and Xbox 360 games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Wii U™ system from Nintendo, PC and iOS and Android devices.

The Disney Infinity 3.0: Star Wars™ Starter Pack will include the Disney Infinity Base and Disney Infinity 3.0 video game software, the Star Wars: Twilight of the Republic Play Set, Ahsoka Tano and Anakin Skywalker character figures, and a web code card that unlocks content for PC and mobile devices. Movie Review - Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) #AvengersJozi #DisneyAfrica

Hi Guys,

The Avengers are back in the circle once again to save the world they love the most. The movie has really great action and story building throughout the 141 minutes. You will never feel bored and will always be glued to your seats till the end of the movie. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it as some of the secrets were reveled and new ones were created in this part. I really loved the action sequence the movie opens up with and slowly it led to the introduction of something called Ultron made by our very own Iron Man and Hulk along with J.A.R.V.I.S. This is another MARVEL in the great gems from the house of Walt Disney Studio Motion Pictures.

I think the movie is going to break records created by Fast and Furious 7 in South Africa as #AvengersJozi has a great fight sequence between Iron Man and Hulk shot right in the center of Central Business District, Johannesburg. Even my office at 45 Commissioner Street was clearly visible along with the Johannesburg City Library/ Johannesburg City Hall Complex and nearby areas along with the signboard clearly visible for Harrison Street. Jo'burg people will really love watching their beloved city from the skies and a lot of action happening on the ground. This is one of those moments we all cherish to remember the spots we have seen in person to appear on big screen with our favorite MARVEL comics characters. The characters also travels to Seoul, South Korea and shows quite a bit of the city during the course of the movie.

Avengers: Age of Ultron to me appears to be a combination of The Avengers meeting Transformers and X-Men coming together to save the world from human extinction. The characters are shown fighting with machines as it happens in Transformers and people have unique powers that so much happens in X-Men. The new characters that were introduced and how they became Avengers eventually is what you need to know from watching the same in the theater near you. The movie has some romantic moments and emotions thrown in too as well as some of the fun part where everyone tried to pick Thor's Hammer Mjolnir.

The movie is written and directed by Joss Whedon. The action sequences are really nice and new Avengers characters have been introduced in the movie. The movie features a long list of actors which includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Cobie Smulders, Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell, Idris Elba, Stellan Skarsgård, James Spader, and Samuel L. Jackson.

The movie is releasing on 24 April 2015 in Ster Kinekor and you can watch the premier shows as well as preview shows also on 23 April 2015. The movie is best to be watched in 3D to enjoy the most and it's a value for money and time. I totally fell in love with this part and will watch it again with my family and friends. The movie is totally entertaining and go watch it on big screen for it's sheer viewing pleasure and to watch the powers of all The Avengers in action.

The movie builds the logic for the start of the next part of the series to be released in the years to come called Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2. Movie is releasing in Ster Kinekor on 24th Apr 2015. Book your tickets now. More info on twitter and facebook.

STORY SYNOPSIS:

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. Avengers are on a global adventure, with some three-weeks shoot in Johannesburg, South Africa. The cityscape and surrounding areas would provide the backdrop for one of the biggest action sequences in the film involving Iron Man and The Hulk.

“Johannesburg has a very particular look and style to its architecture that I really liked,” says Joss Whedon, writer and director of this movie. “It has very much its own rhythm, its own feel, its own tones, and there’s an earthiness to the way it looks. It is very different from the other locations we shot. You know immediately you’re not in North America.”

I still remember that it was so hectic to reach CBD in the morning during those three weeks that I shifted myself to other office. It's time to see what Disney & Marvel created in this 141minutes of extraordinary extravaganza.

#DisneyAfrica - Frozen, Avengers, Star Wars and beyond!

It’s been a week of milestones and big announcements from The Walt Disney Company. From a galaxy far, far away to the streets of Joburg and a journey to a world beyond, there is something from everyone from the house of Disney!

It’s of-f-f-f-f-icial: Frozen 2 is in development at Walt Disney Animation Studios with directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee and producer Peter Del Vecho, the Oscar®-winning filmmaking team behind Frozen. The news was announced at Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders by Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios; and actor Josh Gad, who provides the voice of Olaf from Frozen. A release date and production details are on ice for now.

Fans will soon be able to see the brand new animated short film, Frozen Fever, which hits cinemas in front of Disney’s upcoming Cinderella on Thursday 2 April nationwide. Frozen Fever welcomes back to the big screen the voices that helped bring the Frozen favorites to life, and introduces a new song Making Today a Perfect Day. For a limited time, the track is available exclusively at iTunes (iTunes.com/FrozenFever). In the short film, it's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but when Elsa catches a cold, her powers may put more than just the party at risk.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron - Marvel’s Avengers: Age Of Ultron. The trailer set a record with 35 million views in 24 hours, breaking the previous record set by the last teaser trailer which debuted October 22, which got 34.3M global views in 24 hours. Eagerly awaited the world over, South African fans have a special reason to celebrate as the Johannesburg skyline and CBD will feature prominently in key breath-taking sequences, following the production’s filming in the City of Gold early last year. The film releases nationwide on 24 April 2015.

Rogue One is the title for the first film in a unique series of big-screen adventures that explores the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga. Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and written by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy, Antz). The first actress cast is Felicity Jones who garnered an Academy Award nomination and critical acclaim for her performance in The Theory of Everything. The film is due for release on December 16, 2016.

In addition, Iger confirmed that Rian Johnson will write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. The film, which continues the saga after the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens (18 December 2015), is set for release on May 26, 2017 — forty years and a day after the release of Star Wars: A New Hope in 1977.
 

Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out is the major emotion picture event of the year, as we travel deep into the most remarkable location of all: the mind. Releasing 19 June nationwide, it’s sure to become a family favourite!

And finally, we welcomed a more in-depth look at the Disney’s riveting mystery adventure Tomorrowland – A World Beyond, where a jaded scientist (George Clooney) and an optimistic teen (Britt Robinson) embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space. On 21 March 2015, at the ’15 Spring/Summer Collection Showcase, six designers revealed their ready-to-wear lines, entirely inspired by the iconic characters featured in the upcoming 24 April cinematic release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron.

After a month-long search in December 2014, six designers from across the continent were chosen to showcase their lines at SA Fashion Week. They are South African designers Siyabonga Ntini (Ralfe), Roman Handt (Roman Handt) and Luiz Delaja (M4S) as well as Zimbabwean designer Rumbidzai Muzofa (Rumbie by Rumbie), Zambian designers Christina Kabamba and Donna M’shanga (Kamanga) and South African-based (Spanish-born) designer Amos Tranque (Amos Tranque). Drawing inspiration from Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Widow and The Incredible Hulk, the designers were given free rein to bring each character’s iconic imagery and style to their chosen men’s and women’s lines.

Each designer’s unique take on the Marvel brand and their incorporation of the Avengers characters showcased remarkable use of fabrics and materials, whilst playing with silhouettes, shapes and colours in both men’s and women’s fashion. An exciting fusion of designs from across the continent provided eye-catching and celebratory pieces that included futuristic, traditional and contemporary elements mixed with a distinct blend of African themes and, of course, some daring twists.

“As fans the world over anticipate the release of the next chapter in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, we are thrilled not only to be celebrating the Avengers but also the immense talent that the designers have brought to the SA Fashion Week runway,” says Deirdre King, Head of Marketing for The Walt Disney Company Africa. ‘The Inspired by Marvel campaign truly showcase the timeless and universal appeal that these characters have, whilst remaining relevant in since they first appeared in comic books almost 5 decades ago.”

This is not Disney’s first foray into high fashion – even as far back as 1937, the company collaborated with Cartier for a piece inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Recent collaborations globally include the likes of Tommy Hilfiger, D&G, Castelbajac, Philipp Plein, Chopard, adidas, Havaianas and Desigual to name a few. Earlier this year, world-renown shoe designers such as Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin, revealed their own Inspired by Cinderella Shoe designs at the European Premiere of the film. On the local front, 2013 saw Suzaan Heyns becoming the first designer on the continent to participate in the Inspired by Minnie campaign that debuted at SA Fashion Week in October.

The Inspired by Marvel Collections mark the upcoming 24 April cinematic release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. South African fans have an extra reason to celebrate as the hotly anticipated film features key action sequences shot entirely in Johannesburg. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as The Incredible Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.

Movie Review - Into the Woods (2015)

Hi Guys, 

Into the Woods (2015) is an American musical fantasy film based on a lot of Disney characters in a single movie. The movie is directed by Rob Marshall and stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Johnny Depp and many others. 

The movie is based on the musical Broadway of the same name. The movie is based on the Grimm Brother's fairy tales of Cinderella, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and Jack & the Beanstalk. The movie is based on the life of a baker who is childless due to a curse placed on his father by a vengeful witch played by Meryl Streep. The witch asks the couple for some things to bring her so that she can lift her curse which makes the context of the movie. As baker starts his journey into the jungle various characters meet and their lives are interwined in this movie.

The baker is played by James Corden and wife is played by Emily Blunt. It was nice to see Emily in fantasy musical drama after seeing her in Edge of Tomorrow movie. Meryl Streep looks great in her role as a witch. 

Go for it to watch the movie as to how various stories can be interlinked to make an amazing and entertaining story. If you love musicals then this movie will be a perfect Disney getaway for kids and adults alike. Johnny Depp has played a small role in this movie and it is so great to see him after a long while.

Movie Review - Big Hero 6 (2014)

Hi Guys, 

Big Hero 6 (2014) is a Disney's action adventure comedy animated superhero movie which is one of their best of this year and will launch a lot of new characters with new powers in the superhero series. The film tells the story of a young robotics prodigy named Hiro Hamada who forms a superhero team to combat a masked villain in a city based on San Fransisco and Tokyo called San Fransokyo. 

Big Hero 6 is directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams and is based on the comics series of the same name. The film features the voices of Ryan Potter, Scott Adsit, Daniel Henney, T. J. Miller, Jamie Chung, Damon Wayans, Jr., Génesis Rodríguez, and Maya Rudolph. It's the first Disney movie to feature MARVEL comics characters. 

The movie is excellent and I really loved every part of the same. The movie will be the biggest hit as it has everything that it makes to be a great watch. This superhero movie has elements of laughter, fun, joy and moments of sadness, hopelessness and coming out of the same with the help of Baymax.

Baymax will be loved by every children around the globe along with the mind & talent of Hiro and his brother Tadashi. Baymax is a personal healthcare robot Tadashi created. He creates a lot of laughter as he is turned into a superhero by Hiro later on as he deals with a masked villian. The other characters are the nerdy friends of Tadashi who helps Hiro and Baymax. 

The movie is a must watch for every kid and adult alike. Disney has really created a MARVELlous superhero movie this time which will be loved by everyone. Go watch the same this festive season.
