The Family Man Season 2 @PrimeVideoIN #TheFamilyManOnPrime #Thriller #Crime
Hi Friends,
It was a long wait but it was really worth it. The Family Man Season 2 arrived on 3-June-2021 on Amazon Prime Video online platform and I watched the whole 9 episodes in one evening. The web series keeps you glued to your mobile, tablet or TV screen and the story never lags behind. The wait for the second season has become longer due to the Tandav which was also launched on the Prime Video platform which raised a lot of questions about what to show and what not to show in the web series? Meanwhile, The Family Man keeps themselves glued to the right path with some verbal abuses here and there but didn't feature any religious agenda whatsoever.
Manoj Vajpayee's character Srikant Tiwari is much more irritated along with becoming a commoner with a normal 9-5 job where he tries to fit in with a much younger generation. The kids are more grown-up and play a lot of tricks to make their way through their families. The kids have an important role to play as the girl gets kidnapped and a young love story is being shown too. Priyamani's character Suchitra was not given much screen space along with Arvind played by Sharad Kelkar. It's made obvious to what was not shown in Season 1 as she goes to a Counsellor played by Asif Basra who committed suicide during the Covid-19 times. It's still made unclear as she tries to tell the truth to her husband during the last few minutes of Season 2 setting a stage for Season 3 to be launched in future. The story will move to the North-Eastern states in Season 3.
Season 2 is focused on Sri Lanka - Tamil Liberation Front and Indian's enforcement caught between the local government and the rebels. As the forces close on the rebels, they got attacked and had to go underground for some years before the group becomes active again from several parts of the world. London is showcased nicely in this series and even Saravanaa Bhavan which is a famous South Indian restaurant is showcased from the East Ham area and is now in other areas too. The story also takes certain ISI characters from the last season and ties us to create a new story along with explanations to the pending questions in flashbacks from episode to episode. The attack target is the PM Basu played by Seema Biswas as she supported the Sri Lankan President Lasit Rupatunga played by Abhishek Shankar. The main focus is on the life of the character Rajalakshmi Chandran (Raji) played by Samantha Akkineni. She is a trained soldier as well as a pilot who survived the attack and is hiding somewhere in Chennai in normal boring life before the Plan is activated by one of the leaders of the cause. Her background story of abduction and how she joined the rebel forces is being showcased along with the various problems faced by the women in the local transports is being showcased too. She is really swift in action sequences and is the heart of Season 2.
Sunny Hinduja plays Milind which I totally missed in Season 1 as he gained fame and fortune due to his role as Sandeep Bhaiya from TVF's Aspirants 5 episodes series. If you have not watched the same, go on Youtube and watch the 5 episodes based on UPSC Aspirants life, which is worth going to again and again. A small glimpse of a hidden advert is shown for SaReGaMa's Carvaan audio player as the teams start collaborating on catching the antagonists and they fight over the songs from Kamal Hassan's Saagar movie and Chennai TASC force member wants to play some Tamil songs.
The story really moves fast forward and also throws light on the events which happened in the past. The team continues to chase the rebels whereas they are always one step ahead and sometimes the TASC team matches them to gain information using some of their network and resources. It's really a nice second part of the series which will make you a lot happier at the end of the series but will leave with more questions that may or may not get clear in the next season. All the other characters have played their role well and also a lot of North Indian and South Indian differences are showcased as the TASC team reached Chennai and takes the help of the local enforcement officers leading to a lot of comic relief from the thrilling storyline. A small love connection is being developed between the character of JK and Umayal played by Sharib Hashmi and Devadarshini. The friendship shown between Srikant and JK is something that you will also want in your life as to someone with whom you can share your heart without being judged. I really admired all the sequences between them throughout Season 1 and 2. I think my heart desires someone with whom I can do so too. Overall, you won't go wrong with this one and will leave you wanting more action and wanting to revise Season 1 again. Maybe you should watch Season 1 now and Season 2 tomorrow. Cheers!!!

THE LAST HOUR @PrimeVideoIN #TheLastHourOnPrime #Crime #Thriller
Hi Friends,
The Last Hour is the latest web series launched on Amazon Prime Video Platform on 14-May-2021 and I watched the same yesterday night in a single go. The location is something you will definitely like as it's some time whose name is not shown but you can see some posters with Gangtok written on the same. The 8 episode long series stars Sanjay Kapoor, Raima Sen, Shahana Goswami (Rock On fame), Karma Tapaka, Shaylee Krishen, Robin Tamang and some more characters. The introduction titles are really nice and showcase a lot of beautiful mountains getting covered in clouds and the valley of trees creating mysterious and terrifying effects with the background music that keeps you glued to the screen of your tablets, smartphone or even TV.
Sanjay Kapoor plays a Senior Cop who has been transferred to the North East region to solve some of the cases of murder and rape. He comes across a young Shaman played by Karma Tapaka who glues the whole series together. I am still not sure why he practices Archery in the jungle where there is not even a single arrow fired during any of the fight sequences later in the episodes. It's just a lot of mysterious drama that has been created around him as a person. He could even see the dead Raima Sen who plays the wife of Sanjay Kapoor died in a car accident. Shaylee plays the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor who eventually falls in love with Karma and Karma is also attracted towards her. She looks really beautiful and there is a chemistry developing between the local cop Lipika played by Shahana and Arup.
Karma's character Dev is able to talk to the dead within the first hour of their death and can tell who killed them or so which Sanjay's character Arup decides to use for catching up on all the criminals despite all the police and security forces available to them. Till the end of the series, they are not able to get hold of the criminals and then the series takes a turn which keeps you guessing as to what has happened and will there be a second season. The 8 episodes are a little bit boring as he goes and tells the guys who killed them and this goes on in all the episodes. One time just to showcase the strength of Arup as a senior cop, he solves the case without Dev telling him who is the murderer. There has been no showcase of why the policeman was corrupt in the first episode or maybe I must have missed the plot.
This web series is a lot between the life, afterlife and reversal of time to recheck the series of events in past as well as future. Some of the characters can see the future, some can see the past, some can see the ghosts and some are just plain humans like me trying to understand what the director and story writer is trying to tell us and show us. Sanjay Kapoor's way of holding the gun doesn't seem like a policeman - he should have taken some lessons from Priyanka Chopra of Quantino fame or his own brother Anil Kapoor of 24 fame. If you remember the movie Baar Baar Dekho, you will feel the pain of watching this one with the story moving forward and backwards again and again. The police are just doing the work after reaching the spot later after the murder is completed and not able to catch just 2 guys who are all behind this drama played by Robin named Yama Nadu. There must be mysterious tales around Shamans in the northeast which the director tries to bring to the notice of people. Yama Nadu can see into the future of people and starts charging money as a fortune-teller. Dev has the power to see the last hour of any person dead which Yama Nadu wants so that he can change it and can also become immortal or at least change his death.
This web series is not fully developed and the expectations due to the trailer are not fulfilled at all. It's not like ASUR and doesn't even have great execution. They could have compressed the story to 6 or fewer episodes and kept it mysterious with some great ending. A lot of time is spent in the afterlife version of yellow background with a boat coming to take the soul to the next birth or so with no conclusions. This is something you should watch at your own risk though the acting is good by Sanjay, Karma, Shahana and Kaylee. In the end, you will just think as to what the director wanted to showcase and why the police could not catch Yama Nadu? RATING 2/5

#TheLifesWayReviews SHAKUNTALA DEVI @PrimeVideoIN #Biography #Drama #Movie
Vidya Balan has showcased the life of Shakuntala Devi who was a world-renowned mathematician who could do a lot of mental calculations using Vedic Maths without any school education. Her life's journey from a young girl to a young woman and then falling in love and getting married and becoming a mother and putting her career on hold. Again starting from scratch and the life of the daughter Anupama played by Sanya Malhotra of Dangal fame as a touring kid and teenager along with her mother tells the story of frustrations and sacrifices one has to make when you are famous, mighty and rich.
Jisshu Sengupta plays the husband of Shakuntala Devi as Paritosh Banerji and looks handsome in all his scenes and acted very well and looks charming too. Amit Sadh too plays Anupama's husband Ajay Abhaya Kumar and a small-time is spent on the love story between the two. The movie is really good to watch with the whole family as it gives an insight into the life of Shakuntala Devi whose puzzle books were very popular when I was doing my engineering and later she also started working on astrology and cooking books.
The movie is 127 minutes long and is available on Amazon Prime Video and some of the songs are really peppy as the music director is Sachin-Jigar and the background score is provided by Karan Kulkarni. Biographical films are really close to my heart and I always try to watch if I am unable to read their biography in books or so. Vidya has lived the life of Shakuntala Devi and she has brought the same magic again as she was in Parineeta and various other movies.
It's a story about an ambitious woman who dares to reach the pinnacle of mathematics where women were not given the same level of respect. Then she struggles to leave her love of maths to fall in love and become a mother and once mother tries to direct her daughter as per her wishes or what she thinks will be good for her. She always finds a solution to any problem using her charm and courage and maths. The movie is a must-watch if you are Vidya Balan's fan or if you are a fan of Shakuntala Devi books. RATING 4/5

SHADAA @PrimeVideoIN #Punjabi #Comedy #Movie
Neeru Bajwa plays Vanjhali, a wedding organizer but still unmarried due to her own choices and 2 years elder to Chadta. The movie is all about Chadta trying to woo Vanjhali during the various marriage events in Punjab and Rajasthan. The movie does offer a fresh perspective as earlier all Punjabi movie revolves after trying to find an NRI boy or girl to go to Canada or any other foreign countries. This movie doesn't use that theme though the marriage showcased have one of the NRI's involved. She is not given as much importance as the focus is more on the character of Chadta and his family but nonetheless, she brings the beauty and glamour on the screen.
The movie raises many questions despite being comedy on the equality rights between the bride and the groom's families which really touches your heart. Diljit is able to play his character amazingly well and the act with the plastic dolls will make you laugh out loud or maybe rolling on the floor. The comedy is mainly between the Chadta and his parents played by Anita Devgan and Hardeep Gill. To add to the fire of his family and friends, a Pandit Ji tells that he won't be married in the next 7 births as has 365 marriages in his earlier birth and that's a funny story in itself. There are no extras used to bring in comedy scenes and being the focus on Canon cameras and photography, the photographs are showcased in great light along with several new ideas for pre-wedding shoots.
The movie really offers something unique and the love chemistry is totally amazing between the lead artists and we are seeing them again after the famous Jatt vs Juliet series of films. I totally love Punjabi films and the comedy punches in this one really made my stomach ache due to laughing non-stop. Enjoy the songs and the great locations from the Rajasthan - Jaipur and many other areas. It's the best 2 hours you can spend during any of these days to destress yourself and the best part is that even if you don't know Punjabi, Amazon Prime Video offers subtitles in many languages of your choice. Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan Season 2 @PrimeVideoIN #JackRyan #Thriller
Jack Ryan played by John Krasinski wears a bearded look throughout Season 2. A series of new characters are showcased in this part as the location was a little different from the last season. Jordi Molla plays Nicolas Reyes as the President of Venezuela and Christina Umana as Gloria Bonalde who is getting popularity of the people as the contender in the upcoming Venezuelan Presidential Elections. Noomi Rapace (The girl who played with fire series fame) as Harriet, a mysterious character that is later revealed to be the German agent. Michael Kelly (House of Cards fame) plays Mike November as the CIA Station Chief in Venezuela and Wendell Pierce reprises as James Greer in this part of the series too.
If you have not watched the first season and directly watching Season 2, you will most definitely like this fast-paced season set in Venezuela but if you have watched Season 1, then you will be a little disappointed in this season. Though this one has everything from action, mystery, espionage, breaking from captivity, great locations, tyranny, and other things it's not as great as Season 1. But because of the popularity of the web series, many Hollywood stars are acting in this Season like Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy and Mummy Returns fame) who is a South African actor by the way. Tom Wlaschiha plays the role of Max Schenkel as one of the characters who keep racing from Venezuela to London and Jack Ryan follows him through.
In Season 2, it is difficult to identify who is the real enemy as many countries and companies are investing in Venezuela. Till the end, the web series will keep you on the edge of your seat as Greer gets caught by the enemy and Jack tries to save him using all his might. The season is highly enjoyable if you love the Spanish language as there are so many dialogues in the local language. Overall, Jack Ryan Season 2 is worth binging on Amazon Prime Video and you can watch the same this coming weekend in case not watched till now. RATING 3.5/5
