#TheLifesWayReviews - Selection Day - Season 1 @NetflixSA TV Series #Cricket #Drama

Hi  Friends,

Selection Day - Season 1 is a Netflix TV series which is based on Cricket Drama and features the fictional story of two brothers playing cricket and trying to make a career out of the same. The season 1 was launched in December 2018 and is based on the book of the same name by Aravind Adiga. The TV series is directed by Udayan Prasad and Rajesh Tailang plays a dictator, disciplined and sacrificing father who wants to brings the best in his children. Anil Kapoor, famous Bollywood Hero is the producer of this Netflix TV series.

The kids are played by Mohammad Samad and Yash Dholye along with Mahesh Manjrekar as their cricket coach and Ratna Pathak Shah as School principal. With a great star cast, this Netflix series is very promising and I watched all the 6 episodes in Season 1 in a single sitting. I never wanted the serial to get over but the good news is that Season 2 is releasing on 19th Apr 2019.

Manju and Radha Kumar come from a village and after winning championships get decided by their father to be moved to Mumbai where they can fight in domestic league matches. Mohan Kumar played by Rajesh Tailang is the obsessive and intelligent father who has spent his entire life on raising great athletes planning everything even before his marriage till they are today. He spends his entire time on planning what's best for his kids and stays focussed on making it big for them. He doesn't have any money and takes some strange jobs to survive in Mumbai.

As the episodes progress the kids are selected by a school coach played by Mahesh Manjrekar who has some mystery attached to him which is not revealed in the first season. Ratna Pathak Shah takes care of the school while trying to save the school land from the builders and businessman played by Akshay Oberoi looking at a property of value unlimited in the centre of the Mumbai city. Karanvir Malhotra plays the competition in terms of batting in their school team. He really tests the mental and emotional strength of the brothers as he continues to bully them in the school.

The kids face their own troubles with father and internal struggle when they want to make choices and are not allowed to. The little one doesn't want to even play cricket and wants to study science and is in talks with Lord Almighty played by Shiv Pandit. These talks with God are the most interesting portions of the show and those scenes are not to be missed. There is a certain mystery about their mom which is to be revealed at the end of season 1 but the episode ends there keeping us waiting till season 2 starts.

The TV series brings about the memories of Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar movie where the fight was between school students from public and private schools. Here in this Netflix TV series, the fight is between the rich and the poor and the facilities available to progress in any of the fields be it studies or games. It's similar to the protagonists of the tv series will have to face their internal and external struggles to reach the Selection Day committee and the show shows the number of days left for the same in each episode.

Overall it's a worth watch and I am eagerly waiting for the next season and it's hardly a week left for the same. If you want to enjoy, you can wait till that time or can watch the 6 episodes this weekend and rest next week if released together by Netflix.

If you don't have Netflix membership, enroll for a month free trial and then you can take on any of the three packages as per your requirements. I am also on a trial package for 1 month and trying to watch as much as I can. Netflix gives you the option to download too on Wifi connection which you can watch on the go later or while traveling making it a great option.

Cheers!!!

SterKinekor Cinema Park - #Addicted2Life - Right Decision to Drugs

Hi Guys,

It was a great opportunity to go be invited to a program which can not only change your life but also those around you. It helps you decide what is right and best for you. It helps you create a conscious effort towards making your life not only beautiful but also worthwhile on Planet Earth. Thanks to @sterkinekor

Addicted2Life is a program to empower young people to make the right decisions about Drugs and substance abuse. It's an initiative between Cinema Park and Gauteng Department of Education to directly engage with learners from various schools around Gauteng to make them aware about the substance abuse and drugs. The program hopes to reach more than 12000 Gauteng learners from Grade 7-12 over the next few years.

The movie takes learners up to six different experiences that every parent and educator can use to give children the tools to better deal with the difficult decisions they will have to make as teenagers and young adults related to drugs, alcohol and substance abuse. The war against drugs starts with you and you only. The movie shows the impacts of drugs and alcohol on the physical and emotional side of human beings. This movie will help make learners aware about what it is really like (in your body, mind and life) after you use these drugs. Addicted to life program honestly presents the facts about drugs and alcohol.

1. The Interactive Experience - "Your Choice" - A series of questions are asked to every learners and their inputs are recorded using the unique personal remote control. The questions tests the understanding, knowledge and attitude of learners before and after the program. The top 3 learners after the final round wins some rad prizes from Cinema Park also.

2. The 3D Experience - "Feeling the Chemistry" - Youth generally tend to believe that they are immune to the dangers of addiction. They wrongly suppose that whoever isn't addicted surely won't be harmed and they themselves won't become addicted ever. They have strong will power etc etc. These myths are broken in this video presentation which shows that once a drug abuse stays in your body for more than 30 days. It affects your heart and brain as well as other parts of body.

3. The Darkness Experience - "Knock Out" - The lights are switched off and learners are taken to a role play kind of journey of 3 youngsters at a party via audio inputs. The party ends in tragic circumstances. The learners learn how social pressures can change one's mind and affects negatively on one's decision making process. You could feel as to how will you react in that particular situation.

4. The Motion Experience - "Chain Reaction" - Another movie presentation that takes learners through the process of drug making across the world. The movie shows the harsh realities from growing the plants to processing the same and finally transporting it through various parts of the world. It all leads to a big  network of crime which is worth billions of dollars. It not only affects the end user but also the creator of the same too.

5. The Inspiration Experience - "Reality Check" - This is a movie presentation to take learners through the dangers of alcohol. It breaks various misconceptions that alcohol only damages in the long run. The truth is that even one occasion of irresponsible drinking can have devastating effects. The movies shows various real life examples of individuals/families which are suffering due to the same.

Overall, it's a journey which will make you aware about the drugs and it's effects on your body, brain and life. It not only vanishes your life but also your friends & families. Do check this program out to learn & experience for yourself before you take that path of no return.

I don't do alcohol or any other substance abuse but it was a great learning experience for me too. I didn't know what drugs and alcohol causes inside your body and how it impacts your families and friends?

I would like Cinema Park to include questions related to whether learners have taken theft as a measure to purchase drugs or if they are doing it already so that crime in our own lives angle & discussion can also be showcased.

Addicted2Life is available in Ster Kinekor. More info on twitter and facebook

Cheers!!!

Indiblogger #Indispire - Five Places I wanted to visit

Hey Guys,

Breaking away from the regular travel destination theme of this week's #Indispire, I thought of some of the moments where I want myself to be once again from my life. If there is some time machine or camera that can show me where I was in that timeline of my life, I will be more than happy and amazed.

1. I wanted to see the place and room where I was born. The very first moments of my existence on this planet earth. Crying or wanting to sleep? How do I look like? Yeah, I know, I looked liked me but in real...how was I on my first minute of birth? Who all were there? What was their reactions to listen to this news of my birth? Who was the first one to take me into his arms? Who kissed me first? When I got to see my mother and father? All this stuff is the place where I want to travel as my first dream destination of my existence.

2. The very first day of my school. How was I like - wanting to go or not? How was I feeling seeing a lot of kids on the gates of the school? Whom did I first met as a child on my first day at school? Who were my friends? With whom I shared my lunch box with? or didn't shared at all? Was I crying the whole time or slept for a while on the bench? Who was my teacher or maid that took care of me in the school? What was I thinking about my parents to drop me to school all alone in midst of rush of kids? These are some of the questions that I wanted to get answers of from my travel to my second phase of life.

3. The very first salary cheque or cash payment which I received for my efforts for whole of the month. Was I happy? What did I do with the money? What was I feeling? Who congratulated me? Where did I went to party? Did I visited some temple or donated something to charity? What was my expression when I saw the salary amount in my account or hands? Who gave me my first salary? It was the biggest struggle in my life to earn my first salary that I really wanted to enjoy now using the travel destination machine.

4. The birth of my first child. How happy was I becoming the father of someone looking like an angel? What feelings I had as a new generation has arrived in our family? What did I said to my wife? How eager and nervous I was to hold my daughter in my hands? How did the kid react to my holding? Did she cried? Did she smiled when I took her in my arms? What was the reaction of my family and relatives? Who all came to visit my wife in the hospital? What was the reaction of my friends when I broke the news to them? Did I slept or kept looking at the angel? Did I comfort or thanked my wife after this complicated process of child birth? I really wanted to go and relive this second last destination of my life.

5. The final one is the last day of my life on this planet Earth as I say good bye to everyone. Is it informed death or I died in an instance? Is it a natural death or accident? How happy or sad is my family on my death? Who all loved me and cared about me? What did I do wrong in my life? What are the people's reactions after my death? Is my family ok? Who is taking care of them after I died? What was people's opinion about my life? Are they cursing me or really feeling pain in their hearts? What I have left for my family? Is it a lot of debt or plenty of income for their survival? How many of my company colleagues/bosses are attending my funeral? The time I spent away from home for work was it worthwhile? These all questions gives a lot of perspective as I am on my deathbed. This is the final destination that I wanted to see today or asap before I actually reach there.

Yeah, I did wanted to visit the day of my marriage once again, so that I could stop myself from doing it. But if I would have stopped it, I would not become father to a lovely daughter and could not travel there so I have dropped this dream destination out of my list to keep it at 5. Else, surely I would love to revisit the day I got married and check out my confusion and happiness as whole family is celebrating and dancing in this big fat wedding. There are always some funny moments in everyone's marriage that you will always remember. It can be some relative or some ritual or someone dancing with full on alcohol effect or whatever the case may be.

Till that time, I reach my final destination - I am living in this longest destination of life called MARRIAGE!

Cheers!!!
