#SouthAfrica Favourite #NAGLAN Raises The Bar @rAgeExpo #rAgeExpo2018

Hi Friends,

The much-anticipated NAG LAN is back at rAge this October, and tickets go on sale on Saturday 28 July 2018 at 09h00, both online and at Computicket outlets. As SA’s most popular LAN, tickets to the NAG LAN are expected to sell out mega fast, and this year – as promised – the organisers are delivering an even more impressive event and experience!

“For the first time ever, gamers will be able to pre-select their preferred experience in three dedicated LAN areas when purchasing their tickets. Two of the areas will be fully carpeted, one area will have padded chairs, and two areas will be quieter and more secluded from the noisy expo show floor, ensuring that the NAG LAN experience is more tailored to everyone’s individual tastes and levels of comfort,” says Michael James, Owner and Project Manager at rAge.

In addition to this, gamers will now be able to take forty winks at, next to or underneath their tables and will not be disturbed by security.

The more good news is that the changes to the NAG LAN also mean a bigger rAge show floor, making for a more interactive and spacious visitor experience, with more exhibitions and activities on offer this year.

The NAG LAN is Southern Africa’s largest BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer/Console) LAN event. Gamers from all over South Africa will travel to rAge with their gaming rigs, laptops and consoles, where they’ll then game for 52 solid hours! 2018 sees big name sponsors on board to ensure an impressive experience. Nutanix is sponsoring the servers, with Aruba supplying the switches and MWEB Fibre providing broadband connectivity.

“Not only is rAge a must-attend event in the calendar for gamers, but it also brings together a host of young talent who may well pursue a future in software development or IT. The sponsorship, and provision of the server architecture for the LAN, provides us with the perfect platform to showcase Nutanix as a next-generation platform for who we believe will be the future IT leaders of our digital economy,” states Paul Ruinaard, country manager Sub-Saharan Africa at Nutanix. “Furthermore, we have architected the NAG LAN platform to run virtualisation for a high-volume traffic environment, a step away from the bare-metal architecture they have used in the past. We are looking forward to seeing the benefits this yields for the gamers in a live environment.”

This year’s NAG LAN will prove to be an unforgettable experience for any gamer wanting to spend a weekend filled with meeting new friends and reconnecting with old ones, as well as non-stop gaming 24/7.

Tickets cost R700 per person, which includes access to the expo all weekend, and will go on sale on Saturday 28 July at 09h00 at all Computicket outlets and online.

For more detailed information on the changes to the NAG LAN, as well as plans showing the new layouts and location of the three areas, go to the NAG website.

“Sandton Convention Centre is proud to be the home of long-running exhibitions of this size and calibre in South Africa,” says Debra de Sousa, Operations Manager at Sandton Convention Centre. Last year the venue hosted the Ice Age exhibition, a huge 3 000m2 display of 45 life-sized moving animals and 12 different scenes that document the 27th Ice Age period and ran for seven weeks to 8 August, and in 2014, the massive 3 600m2 Days of the Dinosaur exhibition was held at the Sandton Convention Centre for 31 days. It was a phenomenal success that broke international ticket sales records for the show, and was the first and biggest interactive dinosaur exhibition of its kind in the country – featuring 45 life-sized dinosaurs in 12 scenes, as well as two skeletons and seven dinosaurs in the animatronic interactive area.

The Gateway to Space exhibition, organised by Media24’s Huisgenoot, YOU and Drum magazines, was assembled by the US Space & Rocket Centre, an official NASA Visitor Centre, and shipped in 20 containers from Budapest, Hungary, where it was last on display. It delivers an amazing space experience that includes a look inside the 15m life-size model of the Mir space station, a Sputnik 1 model, a full-size lunar rover model, an Apollo capsule design for future space exploration, a chance to touch the moon, see 55 other exciting space exhibits, such as a glimpse of a scale-model space toilet, and much more.

In addition, in South Africa the Gateway to Space also features an exhibit that focuses on the South African space sector and highlights astronomy as well as space science and technology. The Department of Science and Technology, along with organisations such as the Hartebeesthoek Radio Astronomy Observatory, Southern African Large Telescope, SA National Space Agency, Square Kilometre Array Project (SKA), Cape Peninsula University of Technology and Denel Spaceteq, is exhibiting a collection of artefacts that depict success stories in this field. According to SA Techie blog, “… if you like space at all, you have to make time to see it.”

“We’re delighted to have proved our capacity and capability to host these world-renowned, exciting and educational exhibitions that attract such huge audiences, particularly school children,” says De Sousa. Pre-bookings by schools for Gateway to Space had reached 20 000 children before the exhibition opened.

“We’re equipped to cope with the huge onslaught of eager visitors with tickets for specific staggered time slots for visitors to walk around the exhibition, ensuring smooth flow throughout the exhibition,” she says, adding that Sandton Convention Centre’s very close proximity to the Gautrain, to Sandton City and other leading malls and hotels adds to the appeal for families making a full day or even a night out when visiting the exhibition.

Featuring some 22 talented musicians, brilliant dancers, mind-boggling aerialists and acrobats, as well as 750 lavish costume changes, the show is bound to keep you at the edge of your seat. The flamboyant costumes and extravagant sets have been custom-designed in India’s film capital by a team of 40 creative designers and collaborators over the course of the last four years.

This production intertwines a mesmerising combo: Traditional India meets the urban streets of Mumbai and New York. It is hip and trendy with all the glitter and bling to make it an all-out sensory sensation. This feast showcases Bollywood at its finest and audiences can brace themselves for an explosion of colour and energy. Audience members will be invited along for a festive journey through Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat, and even through the evolution of Bollywood films via a visual display that fuses dance, theatre and special effects.

The celebratory production is directed and choreographed by the prominent choreographer and production master, Amit Shah, and produced by US-based AATMA Performing Arts, of which Shah is the founder and creative director. Shah is known for his critical eye and creative disposition, and has many years of experience in the world of dance, theatre and media. He has worked on Bollywood film sets with top actors and his choreography has been featured on stage with Miss World Priyanka Chopra, as well as in several films and music videos.

Talking about Mystic India, Amit says, “If you have ever wanted to visit India, this production is your direct flight there. Mystic India will blow you all the way to the small villages of India to the fast-paced streets of Mumbai and New York. Audiences will get it all!”

The female lead of Mystic India, Kruti Shah, is an internationally distinguished dancer and choreographer who shot to fame as a Top 10 finalist on the dance reality show, Just Dance. While intensively training in modern forms of movement, such as ballet, pointe, tap, hip-hop, jazz and modern, Kruti also developed an interest in more ancient Indian forms of dance, particularly Bharatnyatam and Kathak. She joined the AATMA as a principal dancer in 2010 and has since been promoted to choreographer and dance trainer for the popular troupe.

Mystic India’s narrator, Sanjay Sahini, is originally from Delhi, India, and received his professional actor’s training at the acclaimed HB Studios in New York City. His breakout role was in the movie Khel Shuru in 2006, and since then he has gone on to perform in numerous films, theatre and off-Broadway productions. One of his most notable performances was in Qurbaani, a short film for which he received a Best Actor Award. He also received numerous awards for his one-man show, in which he performs incredible imitations of Bollywood’s big stars.

Mystic India #thelifesway #photoyatra #DurbanBringing the element of adventure to Mystic India, are the specialty acts, like the ancient sport of Mallakhamb and the aerial arts. The choreographer, trainer and performer in charge of constructing these stunning pieces into the show, is Rajesh Mudki. He hails from Mumbai, India, where he has devoted his life to these spectacular sports. Mudki has trained in Mallakhamb since the age of six, and has since mastered the aerial mediums of silk, hoop, harness and rope. In 2007 he was honoured with the Shiv Chattrapati Award from the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for Best Athlete of the Year. He is the youngest player in history to receive this prestigious award. Mudki has appeared and worked on shows, such as Dance India Dance, Just Dance, DID Little Masters and India’s Got Talent.

This larger-than-life Bollywood extravaganza is brought to you in association with ZEE TV and will run at the Durban ICC on the 23rd April and at The Teatro Montecasino from the 29th April to 1st May 2016.
