Udit Narayan is an award-winning artist who has performed over 19 000 songs for Bollywood movies. With his melodious voice, Udit is one of India’s most popular playback singers and has sung for onscreen legends such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amir Khan and Salman Khan on tracks including ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ and ‘Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se’.

Alka Yagnik is ready to mesmerize the audience with her hit numbers such as ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ and ‘Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hain’. She is noted in Indian cinema for a career spanning over three decades and she is a record seven-time award winner for the Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer; a two-time recipient of the National Film Award and several other honors.

The Bollywood melody king, Kumar Sanu, will captivate the audience with his evergreen soundtracks of the ’90s with audience favorites ‘Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen’ and ‘Dheere Dheere Se Meri’. Sanu has won numerous film awards and other recognition for his illustrious career as a playback singer.

Local Comedienne Receiving All The Right Attention @Khanyisa_Bunu @BluBloodSA

Stand-up comedienne and actress, Khanyisa Bunu, has inked a management deal with leading South African artist and event management company, Blu Blood. And she’ll be opening for Trevor Noah’s upcoming tour in Johannesburg and Durban. What a way to celebrate ‘girl power’ this Women’s Month.

Hailing from the small town of Whittlesea in the Eastern Cape, where she was a high school Geography and English teacher, Khanyisa Bunu has always known she was funny. “There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t get a kick out of making my students or the teachers roar with laughter,” recalls Khanyisa.

As a child, Khanyisa was always the centre of attention, regaling her family with stores of her mischievous comings and goings at boarding school. And now she’s caught the attention of the local entertainment scene.

Khanyisa relocated to Johannesburg in 2008 and shortly after, she decided to take a leap of faith and follow her talent, which saw her entering SABC 1’s reality TV show, So You Think You Are Funny?. Getting into the Top Six finals solidified her path, and she began to pursue a full-time career as a comedian, actress and entertainer.

Khanyisa has performed on some of South Africa’s most prestigious and well-known stages. Her performances have been revered by critics and show-goers alike. She has performed and hosted a number of major headline events too including Kings & Queens of Comedy, Blacks Only and the Comedy Central Roast Battle in 2016.

Khanyisa has performed on the international circuit too with outstanding performances in Botswana, Nigeria, Swaziland and most notably at the Greenwich Village Comedy Club in the capital of comedy, New York City.

Her comedy milestone in her career so far, was becoming the first woman to win the coveted Audience Choice Award at the 2015 Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards.

She has guest appeared on South African television screens as well and taken part in various televised comedy shows. Her most well-known performances have been on Season 4 of Ses Top La Season 4 on SABC 1 and her most current appearances on eTV’s Scandal.

She is also an accomplished writer and has written as a columnist for several community newspapers over the years. Her first Xhosa novel, Umbhodamo was published by Maskew Miller in 2013, to critical acclaim and is currently a setbook in the Eastern Cape for Grade 8 and 9.

Khanyisa’s brand of good, clean comedy sets her apart in the current world of stand-up and entertainment. “I see myself as a very versatile performer and I hope to one day produce and direct for television and the big screen. My dream is to be the most sought after female performer and comedian in Africa, and my journey is only just beginning,” adds Khanyisa.

Shaaista has also successfully completed a Diploma in Project Management and Labour Law from the University of Cape Town. She pioneered Blu Blood in 2008 and has had many achievements of note since then. Shaaista proclaims that it is up to the individual to “seize every opportunity, own each day and sculpt your own brilliance”.

THE DYNAMIC DUO
A sweet story of fate brought Osman and Shaaista together. The couple met at a mutual friend, neither of whom had heard of the other nor ever met before, although having both lived in Laudium (in central Pretoria) for years. Shaaista was hosting a Childline Gala Women’s Day Luncheon on the night of their meeting, and Osman, being his charismatic self, insisted he would assist this worthy cause. This chance experience led to the two becoming fast friends and not to long after, love was in the air. The couple is now happily married and has combined forces to take Shaaista’s business venture, Blu Blood, to new heights.

The Osmans realised that the best way forward would be for Osman to join Shaaista’s Blu Blood venture, instead of them both working on separate business entities. Shared interests and mutual passions made this a decision they haven’t regretted since.

Dora #TheExplorer Received #CapeTown Key To The City #DoraLiveSA @NickAfrica

It’s quite an achievement when you receive the ‘Key to the City’, but even more so, when you receive a second key – as Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer can attest! 

Dora the Explorer, who is in South Africa for her stage extravaganza, Dora Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure, kicked off her tour in Durban last week with more than just a big welcome – the feisty preschool heroine also received the official ‘Key to the City’ from the eThekwini municipality. Now, less than two weeks later, Dora has received a second key on her arrival in Cape Town ahead of the final run of the show (Grand Arena, GrandWest Casino, 15 – 17 July).

Cape Town Deputy Mayor, Ald. Ian Neilson presented the ‘Key to the City’ to Dora in a ceremony held at the Offices of the Mayor on Wednesday, 13th July 2016. “With this key to the city, Dora will always be welcome in Cape Town. It’s great that she’s come all this way to visit our beautiful city and its people,” said Ald. Nielson.

Commented Tasania Parsadh, Senior Channel Director, Nickelodeon “This will be the first time that Dora the Explorer has brought this fantastic, interactive, Broadway-style stage show to Cape Town. Dora has been warmly received wherever she goes, and what better way to mark the end of the tour than by giving Dora a warm Cape Town welcome. We are thrilled that the City of Cape Town have honoured her for her achievements around the globe, and for the joy that she has brought to so many children in South Africa.”

Isabella Pretorius (7) also attended the ceremony and couldn’t contain her excitement when she got the opportunity to meet her favourite TV heroine.

Kids and family TV favourite Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) has teamed up with Life Like Touring and Blu Blood to bring Dora the Explorer and her friends to South Africa this winter. Dora the Explorer Live! Dora’s Pirate Adventure has ended in Durban and at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg (7 – 12 July) before finally dropping anchor at the Grand Arena, GrandWest Casino, Cape Town (15 – 17 July). 

During the show, kids and families are invited to join Dora and her pals, Boots and Diego, on a voyage of discovery, as they embark on an exciting trip to Treasure Island in search of the ultimate pirate party. Help them navigate over the Dancing Mountain and through the Silly Singing Bridge in pursuit of the Pirate Piggies. Along the way, Dora the Explorer and her fans will use their problem solving, map-reading, counting, musical, and language skills to help Dora reach Treasure Island and avoid that pesky fox, Swiper! 

Dora the Explorer is a play-along, animated adventure TV series following Dora and her best friends, Boots, as they explore the world. Since its launch in 2000, Dora the Explorer has emerged as a global phenomenon, seen around the world and translated into more than 30 languages.
