Movie Review - John Wick (2014)

Hi Guys,

John Wick (2014) marks the return of the Matrix Trilogy producer/director and actor. Keanu Reeves plays the title role of John Wick directed by Chad Stahelski and Produced by David Leitch along with Eva Longoria.
John Wick (2014) movie is a hard core action thriller drama set in America. John Wick is the retired hitman who earlier helped the Russian mafia to take over the whole city. The Russian leader is played by Michael Nyqvist as Viggo. When Viggo's son Losef played by Alfie Allen from the GAME OF THRONES fame kills John Wick's dog gifted by his dying wife, their relationships turmoils. John wants to kill Losef while Viggo tries to save his son. This sets the context of the movie and whatever happens is run and chase story with a lot of fighting sequences that will keep you glued to your seats.

The movie also stars Williem Dafoe, Dean Winters, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane and John Leguizamo amongst various others. The movie has a nice thrill attached to it as new elements are introduced in the movie. How John Wick overcomes each and every one of them is what keeps viewers hooked to the movie.

The movie has a lot of close combat scenes and a lot of gun shoots sequences. The movie is really a must watch for all the fans of action and Keanu Reeves. The story has nothing to offer but this movie will be known for it's amazing action effects. I liked the movie but as compared to The Equalizer or No Good Deed, I really liked The Equalizer much more than this one.

Do check this one out as the movie is releasing in Ster Kinekor on 19th Dec 2014. Book your tickets now. More info on twitter and facebook.

Cheers!!!

Movie Review - When the Game Stands Tall (2014)

Hi Guys,

When the Game Stands Tall (2014) is a sports drama movie based on the actual events. The movie is about the record-setting 151-game between 1992–2003 high school football winning streak by De La Salle High School of Concord, California. The movie is based on the novel of the same name written by Neil Hayes and published by North Atlantic Books. De La Salle head coach Bob Ladouceur retired in January 2013 after winning his last Open Division state championship in December 2012 on which the movie is based.
The sports movies are always based on getting a team together after the initial friction between various team members across various cultural differences and each one coming from a different social and financial background. This movie is also about dreams coming true for some of the athletes as they continue to strive against all odds to win 151 games in a row.

The movie is directed by Thomas Carter also known for his Coach Carter (2005) movie. The movie has Jim Caviezel as Bob Ladouceur, Laura Dern as his wife, Michael Chiklis, Alexander Ludwig, Gavin Casalegno and Clancy Brown in main roles. It was great to see Alexander Ludwig in this movie after his Hunger Games movie series is a big hit. Jim Caviezel has played his role very well as a coach.

The movie has it's ups and downs and it's always great to watch Sports action drama. Sony Pictures has really got something for all of us this time with this movie. I liked the movie but was expecting to see some more of the action like Coach Carter and other famous sports movies.

The movie is nice for a good weekend watch on TV. Do catch it up sometime when it's played on the channels.

Movie has released in Ster Kinekor on 14th Nov 2014. More info on twitter and facebook.

Cheers!!!

Movie Review - Million Dollar Arm (2014)

Hi Guys,

Million Dollar Arm (2014) is a Walt Disney's movie based on true events about two normal village athletes from India playing for the US baseball clubs. It's the uplifting story of hope and dreams about three guys whose destiny changes as they had faith in themselves and acted on that faith too.

The movie stars Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi) fame, Madhur Mittal (Slumdog Millionaire) fame along with Pitobash Tripathi, Darshan Jariwala, Jon Hamm, Aasif Mandvi, Lake Bell, Tzi Ma (24 TV series fame), Alan Arkin and Bill Paxton in various characters.

Jon Hamm runs a sports agency along with Aasif Mandvi and could not list some of the great athletes for his company. He got an idea to recruit Indian Cricket wannabes to pitch for Baseball and enlist them into some of the American clubs. He got the backing of Tzi Ma for an year to search, recruit and train two guys from India. As he trips to India, it showed Mumbai's slum areas, Agra's Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Lucknow, Chennai etc athletes coming to selection process. With a prize money of USD 1m way beyond athletes expectations, a lot of public comes to participate. The selection process scenes are well directed and full of comedy and showed how Americans face the heat of India and culture. What happens after that is for you to watch it in theaters....

The movie will definitely touch the hearts of many towards the dreams they always wanted to achieve. Music is by none other than A.R.Rehman and I am sure that the movie will fetch one Oscar definitely for Background Score and Original soundtracks.

The movie is an exceptionally great watch except the fact that the Indian cinematography shown are only of poor slums, village areas to evoke pathetic/disgusting emotions in the hearts of Americanized public. That's how Hollywood has always pictured India as, so nothing new and nothing changes in this movie also. Every country has it's own culture, India being second in it's population -Not everyone can drive Porsche and not everyone has a great home to live. That's life!!!

This movie has a soul, human emotions and definitely worth your time in theaters. Book your tickets asap. Disney has hit the right cord this time with Million Dollar Arm. It's the movie you will love to watch again and again. I want to see it again myself once again and even wants to have a DVD of the same. :-)

Movie is releasing in Ster Kinekor on 19th Sep 2014. Book your tickets now. More info on twitter and facebook.  Check out facebook page of Disney.

Cheers!!!
