New @SamsungMobileSA Galaxy Foldables Drive More Sustainable Future #GalaxyForThePlanet

Hi Friends,

The Company’s MX business stresses the progress on its commitment to do more with less through Galaxy for the Planet

Samsung has announced that it has made progress towards achieving the 2025 sustainability goals for the MX(Mobile eXperience) Business. Key initiatives include developing and incorporating recycled materials into products, designing more eco-conscious packaging and giving new life to older Samsung Galaxy devices to reduce e-waste.

Since announcing the Galaxy for the Planet vision at Unpacked in August 2021, Samsung has worked diligently to create new ways to recycle and repurpose resources that would otherwise become harmful waste, minimise its environmental footprint and inspire innovation that helps preserve the planet. Today, Samsung is sharing the progress so far on its sustainability journey.

“Samsung is taking consistent and impactful actions that help protect people and the planet. We marry sustainability and innovation in everything we do,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “I am proud of our progress to date. At the same time, it’s been a humbling experience that enables us to continue on our journey towards achieving our sustainability vision with even more conviction and rigor than before.”

Expanding the Use of Recycled Materials to the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4
Developing new, recycled materials is a key focus area for Galaxy for the Planet. The more Samsung recycles; the more resources it preserves. While repurposing materials into Galaxy devices presents many challenges, the benefits for the planet make it well worth the effort.

Samsung designed the new Galaxy Z series and Galaxy Buds2 Pro with repurposed fishing nets, or ghost nets, that could otherwise end up in the ocean.

First integrated into the Galaxy S22 series in February 2022, today there are eleven Galaxy devices that use repurposed fishing nets including Galaxy Book2 Pro series and Galaxy Tab S8 series as well. By repurposing abandoned fishing nets into a high-performance material for Galaxy technology, Samsung helps to minimise the effects of plastic pollution – 640,000 tons of fishing nets are abandoned and pollute the world’s oceans every year.[1]
New @SamsungMobileSA Galaxy Foldables Drive More Sustainable Future #GalaxyForThePlanet
Repurposing discarded fishing nets is only one example of Samsung’s advancements in increasing its use of recycled materials in its products.

Samsung has incorporated eco-conscious materials including repurposed fishing nets, post-consumer materials (PCM) or bio-based resin into 90% of Galaxy devices launched in the past year.[2] For the Galaxy Buds2 Pro, more than 90% of the product is made with recycled materials.[3]

This process requires complex engineering and technical skills to ensure the overall quality, safety and reliability of all new materials for Samsung’s innovative technologies. Samsung plans to make further investments in research and development to source and transform other, new materials for use in Galaxy products and to increase the presence of recycled materials in each device.

Changing the Way Galaxy Products are Packaged
Samsung set a goal to eliminate all single-use plastics in mobile product packaging by 2025, and the company has already reduced a sizeable amount of single-use plastics in its current packaging for Galaxy smartphones including the new Galaxy foldables. Samsung will explore more ways to eliminate single-use plastics in packaging by assessing every aspect of its packaging designs, down to the smallest of details.

Starting with the launch of the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung now uses 100% recycled paper for flagship product packaging.

By doing so, Samsung will be able to save the equivalent of nearly 51,000 trees[4] with the Galaxy S22 series and the new Galaxy Z series this year.
New @SamsungMobileSA Galaxy Foldables Drive More Sustainable Future #GalaxyForThePlanet
Samsung has also reduced the volume of packaging for Galaxy Z Flip4 by 52.8% and for Galaxy Z Fold4 by 58.2% respectively compared to the first-generation Galaxy foldables. By reducing each device package’s volume, Samsung ultimately reduces its environmental footprint in transporting these units using trucks, planes and ships. The company estimates that this reduction in packaging volume equates to a reduction in carbon emissions from transportation of approximately 10,000 tons by the end of 2022.[5] In addition to continually evolving packaging for flagship smartphones, Samsung will expand eco-conscious packaging to other product categories.

Scaling Solutions that Reduce E-waste
More than ever, reducing e-waste is crucial to advancing a circular economy that preserves and repurposes the planet’s finite resources. According to the World Economic Forum, 57 million tons of e-waste was generated in 2021 and it is expected to grow by 2 million tons per year.[6]

To address this, Samsung has been expanding the Galaxy Upcycling program, which gives new life to older Galaxy smartphones. Through Galaxy Upcycling at Home[7], Samsung repurposes smartphones with a simple software update that turns them into smart home devices that support everyday needs, such as childcare and pet care.

An important part of Galaxy Upcycling is ensuring that these sustainable practices not only support the environment but also improve people’s lives. The company also upcycles second-hand Galaxy devices into medical diagnosis equipment called EYELIKE™ fundus cameras that provide necessary eye care services in underserved communities. This program has already upcycled hundreds of Galaxy devices and provided basic eye care for over 13,000 patients in Vietnam, Morocco, India and Papua New Guinea.

The Path Forward
Samsung has set clear sustainability goals by scaling solutions across its business. Whether it is repurposing discarded fishing nets for Galaxy devices, striving to achieve plastic-free packaging or moving us forward to achieve zero waste to landfill and zero standby power of smartphone chargers, Samsung is realising its Galaxy for the Planet vision one step at a time.

There will be more challenges along the way, but Samsung will hold itself accountable and continue to report progress on its mission to effect positive change and inspire others to protect the planet for generations to come.

How Different is Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 from Flip 3? @SamsungMobileSA #GalaxyZFlip4 #GalaxyZFlip3

Hi Friends,

I have been using the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 for the last year or so and this is my day-to-day main smartphone since that time. I have a love and hate kind of relationship with the device. I do love the fun and features it offers but not a big fan of the camera quality and the battery life on this cute little yet powerful device. Although this is so cute to flip the device that the hate goes away in one flip to see the technology marvel in my hands courtesy Universe who gifted me or granted me with one. Thanks, Samsung!

Let's do a quick comparison on the new version which was launched yesterday in South Africa by Samsung and will take some time to arrive in your hands. I got to see the smartphone in person at the experience zone at the launch event. I too will try to see if I can get a review unit later in the year. Let's quickly divide the same into pointers for easy analysis -

1. Battery - The Galaxy Z Flip 4 has 3700mAh which is 400mAh better than the Galaxy Z Flip3 which only has 3300mAh. The difference of 400mAh is enough to take you another 2-3 hours considering the Z Flip3 was lasting 6-8 hours and now with the new device, it can last for around 10-12 hours based on the usage.

2. Selfie Camera - It's the same no changes done. 10MP F2.4/ Pixel Size 1.22um; FOV 80 degree.

3. Rear Ultra Wide Camera - It's the same no changes done on the top camera and still is 12 MP F2.2/ Pixel Size 1.12um; FOV 123 degree.
Let's Flip and Do The 15 Point Comparative Analysis @SamsungMobileSA #GalaxyZFlip4 and #GalaxyZFlip3
4. Rear Wide-angle Camera - Though the 12MP Dual Pixel AF/OIS configuration is similar to this one but the sensor has been improved to contain more pixels from 1.4um to 1.8um now in the Galaxy Z Flip4. I can assure you the low light and the overall camera quality is much more better in the new device due to this change as well as software upgrades and processing power.

FlexCam was hugely featured in the launch event as they told about the various new ways to take your photography and videography game ahead using the new Galaxy Z Flip4.

5. Aperture - The single aperture has been made into a dual aperture leading to better photograph and video capabilities in the new smartphone.

6. Overall weight - The weight has only been marginally increased by 4 grams to 187 grams from 183 grams in Galaxy ZFlip3 considering there is a battery improvement of 400mAh this is awesome!
Let's Flip and Do The 15 Point Comparative Analysis @SamsungMobileSA #GalaxyZFlip4 and #GalaxyZFlip3
7. Overall Size - The dimensions of the new device are slimmer than the old one. Folded is 71.9x84.9x17.1 mm (Hinge) - 15.9 mm (Sagging) and when the device is unfolded the dimensions are 71.9x165.2x6.9mm.

Galaxy Z Flip3 has 72.2x 86.4 x 17.1 mm (Hinge) - 15.9 mm (Sagging). Unfolded 72.2 x 166.0 x 6.9mm

When the new Galaxy Z Flip4, when flipped has the length is a little bit less by about 1.5mm which is great and there is a reduction in breadth by about 0.3mm making it slimmer and better. The overall length is also reduced when unfolded or open by about 0.8mm. The hinge's dimensions remain the same though the whole hinge mechanism has been changed to make it better and more durable.

8. Cover Screen - It's the same with no changes but now has more features like Portrait photos can be taken on Galaxy Z Flip4 as portrait mode also comes when you slide to the camera options. Also, the messages, Whatsapp can be reverted back using the cover screen itself which was not there in Galaxy Z Flip3.
Let's Flip and Do The 15 Point Comparative Analysis @SamsungMobileSA #GalaxyZFlip4 and #GalaxyZFlip3
9. Display Screen - It's the same with no changes but the software and apps have been enhanced to provide a lot of multi-apps and multi-tasking opportunities which was not that prevalent in the Galaxy Z Flip3. Samsung Galaxy Display is a wonderful marvel for your eyes and I have never seen a display like the ones on Galaxy top devices.

10. Colours - The Galaxy Z Flip4 has 4 main colours but there is an option to choose between 5 Bespoke colours too. The main colours are Blue, Graphite, Bora Purple and Pink Gold. So the Cream and Green are taken away from the Galaxy Z Flip3 to make way for the Pink Gold and Blue colours in Galaxy Z Flip4. If you go the Bespoke route for this device, then the probabilities of colour combinations are much higher. There are going to be 2 stores - one in London and the other in New York where you can walk into the buy and customize your devices in the coming months.

11. Internal Memory - A new third version to have 8GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage has been added to the 128GB and 256GB internal storage variants this time for Galaxy Z Flip4. Both the smartphones are 5G and accommodate nano-SIM.
Let's Flip and Do The 15 Point Comparative Analysis @SamsungMobileSA #GalaxyZFlip4 and #GalaxyZFlip3
12. Wireless Power Share - It's available in both versions. It also has now fast wireless charging 2.0 and

13. Water Resistance - IPX8 is the same in both versions. This time it was not showcased as the main feature of the smartphone as well.

14. Processor - The new 4nm octa-core processor is driving the new Galaxy Z Flip4 smartphones whereas in Galaxy ZFlip3 it was a 5nm 64-bit Octa-core processor. The new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is much better than the Snapdragon 888 on Z Flip 3.

15. Glass - The new version of corning gorilla glass victus+ is used in Galaxy Z Flip4 making it stronger than the old device.
Let's Flip and Do The 15 Point Comparative Analysis @SamsungMobileSA #GalaxyZFlip4 and #GalaxyZFlip3
Overall, this is something you always wanted in a foldable device and if you have not bought the Flip phone yet, you can definitely try this one out. I am not going to upgrade to this one from Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 as I will compare Flip to the new Galaxy Fold 4 before I make up my mind as the Fold has been improved significantly in terms of camera configurations as compared to Fold3 in my initial analysis. Look forward to the same and give me a like on my YouTube channel! Cheers!!!

Galaxy Z Flip4, the Ultimate Self-expression Tool Inside and Out
The Galaxy Z Flip4 enhances our users’ favourite features, making it the ultimate tool for self-expression. Its compact clamshell design offers unique experiences, so you can shoot hands-free video or capture full group selfies at various angles by partially folding Z Flip4 to activate FlexCam. These can even be enjoyed on users’ favourite apps. Thanks to Samsung’s partnership with Meta, FlexCam is optimised for popular social platforms, including Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. Do more than ever with Z Flip4 by taking high-quality selfies right from the Cover Screen by leveraging the main camera with the upgraded Quick Shot. Start high-quality video recording in Quick Shot mode and then seamlessly switch to Flex mode to continue recording hands-free without stopping the video – ideal for content creators and vloggers. The users are now able to take selfies in Portrait Mode and see the preview in actual photo ratio when using Quick Shot. With an upgraded camera equipped with a 65 per cent brighter sensor powered by the Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform, photos and videos are crisper and more stable – day or night.

Z Flip4 is crafted to go truly hands-free – doing more without ever opening the phone. Make calls, reply to texts, unlock the car and even control the SmartThings Scene widget, all from the Cover Screen.

Galaxy Z Flip4 can capture, watch and connect longer between charges with the expanded 3,700mAh battery. With Super-Fast Charging, now supported on Z Flip4, charge up to 50 percent in around 30 minutes, keeping users connected when they’re running low.

With the slimmer hinge, straightened edges, contrasting hazed back glass and glossy metal frames, the design is our most refined yet. The users can fully customise the Z Flip4 inside and out, with Galaxy Themes on both the Cover and Main Screen to complement their style with custom fonts, icons and designs. Plus, users can create their own Cover Screen with new clock designs and backgrounds in various formats such as images, GIFs and even video.

Galaxy Z Fold4, a Multi-Tasking Powerhouse with Ultimate Performance
The Galaxy Z Fold4 is the result of Samsung Galaxy’s enduring smartphone innovation and our most powerful smartphone yet. Z Fold4 combines Samsung’s collective mobile technology expertise to create a device with increased functionality whether opened, closed, or in Flex mode. Furthermore, it is Samsung’s first device to ship with Android 12L, a special version of Android created by Google for large-screen experiences, including foldable.

Multitasking on Z Fold4 is easier than ever, so users can get more done on the move. The new Taskbar provides a layout similar to your PC, offering access to your favourite and recent apps. Multitasking is also more intuitive, thanks to new swipe gestures. Instantly switch full-screen apps to pop-up windows or split your screen in half for more ways to multitask.

Samsung’s partnerships with Google and Microsoft take multitasking to the next level. Google apps, including Chrome and Gmail, now support drag-and-drop, allowing users to quickly copy and paste links, photos and more from one app to another. With Google Meet, users can now connect with more people while enjoying virtual co-activities, including co-watching videos on YouTube or playing games together on a video call. Microsoft’s full Office suite and Outlook take advantage of the foldable display, providing more information on the screen and faster ways to interact with the content. The multitasking experience is complete with S Pen functionality, enabling on-the-go drawing and notetaking with streamlined storage inside the Standing Cover with Pen case.

Galaxy Z Fold4 takes stunning photos and videos with an upgraded 50MP wide lens and 30x Space Zoom lens. A variety of camera modes, including the larger Zoom map, activated on Capture View Mode, Dual Preview, and Rear Cam Selfie are custom-built to take advantage of the unique form factor for increased capturing flexibility. And with the larger pixel size, a 23 percent brighter sensor, and enhanced processing power, users can capture clear images even at night.

Content is even more immersive and distinctive on the 7.6-inch Main Screen with a brighter screen, a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a less visible Under Display Camera (UDC) featuring a new scatter-type sub-pixel arrangement. Popular social media apps like Facebook are optimised for the large-screen experience to make content more enjoyable. Or open your favourite streaming entertainment service apps like Netflix and watch hands-free with Flex mode. For non-optimised apps, users can even control the device without disrupting the content with the new Flex Mode Touchpad, offering accuracy while pausing, rewinding, and playing videos, or zooming in and out of content while the device is in Flex mode.

Games are snappier too, thanks to the powerful Snapdragon® 8+ Gen 1 Mobile Platform and hyper-fast 5G. With a slimmer hinge, lighter weight, and even narrower bezels, the wider screen enables easier one-handed interactions while using the Cover Screen.

Samsung continues its barrier-defying innovation journey to deliver the level of durability consumers expect, both in and out. With our Armour Aluminium frames and hinge cover along with exclusive Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+ on the Cover Screen and rear glass, Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 are our toughest foldables ever. The durability of the Main Screen panel is also enhanced thanks to the optimised layer structure, helping to reduce damage from external shock. In addition, both Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 have equipped with IPX8 water resistance, so users can worry less if they get caught in the rain.

The Buds2 Pro now features Auto Switch to provide an effortless transition from your favourite TV Show to taking a call from your loved ones.

And if you happen to misplace your Buds2 Pro on your commute SmartThings Find now makes locating them fast and easy whether they’re inside their cradle or not.

Galaxy for the Planet
Since the launch of the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung has incorporated recycled materials not just in our packaging, but also in the hardware of our new products. These are the first steps in our Galaxy for the Planet initiative, which includes our continued incorporation of recycled plastics and the creation of new materials in partnership with sustainability partners. As we continue to pursue innovations in sustainable manufacturing, we are proud to announce that more than 90% of the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro is made with recycled materials. The new Galaxy Z series also incorporates ocean-bound plastics into key components and 100 per cent recycled paper for its packaging. We also reduced the volume of the packaging up to 58% compared to the first-generation Galaxy foldables. This equates to the avoidance of approximately 10,000 tons of carbon emissions from transportation this year.

New Year Resolutions - Week 29 Achievements & Failures #TheLifesWay

Hi Friends,

Week 29 went into checking the amount earned every day each morning on the YouTube studio app and the week didn't have the first week's highest amount of USD 1.76 in a single day. The maximum amount that I earned was USD1.42 and the lowest being USD 0.56 only. Other than that it was my 42nd birthday at the end of the week on Friday - 22 July. I wish to have a belief in myself that I can achieve that and can build some income stream from the YouTube channel using my readers/followers' help and support.

Week 29 - Sat 16 Jul 2022 - Fri 22 Jul 2022

1. Daily Walking - This week I could only do 9 kilometres as daily going to the office and coming back from around 30 kilometres did take some time to travel and reduced the amount of free time available for walking as well the energy to do so also. I am sure I will pick the idea of completing the 20+ kilometres after a week of rest or so for sure.

2. Books/Audiobooks - I became a member of the City of Johannesburg Library and got myself registered via an online link I found on the board in front of the Sandton Library. The link is here in case you also want to get registered. This way you will be able to access the audiobooks and ebooks available in the library for the loan term of 15 days. Apply online - https://cojelearning.org.za I have found the ebooks and audiobooks collection to be enough for me to read in the next few years easily without buying anything myself. Thanks, Joburg Library. I kept on reading Lashkar by Mukul Deva as I delved more into the storyline and also came to know about its second part to take the story further. Meanwhile, The Millionaire Fastlane audiobook is still going on and is one of the best books to change your money mindset or at least to give it some powerful ideas after Morgan Housel's The Psychology of Money which is a must-keep and read too.

3. YouTube Income - I earned around USD 12 in total so far in the last 10 days of being monetized. It's not a big amount but I am grateful for whatever it is. It's better than the free press releases I get from hundreds of brands without getting anything in return. At least here I know that my time and efforts are directly proportional to the income generation though the content topic drives that part.
New Year Resolutions - Week 29 Achievements & Failures #TheLifesWay
4. 42nd Birthday -  I suggested to my wife not to buy any clothes or anything else and the same was followed. I already have a lot of clothes and shoes that I am unable to use also on a daily basis. Only now I am able to use them as I started going to the office. I only got the dad memorabilia from my son that he bought from the Cardies shop. We went to try the food at the Modern Tailors restaurant in Rosebank. The vegetarian menu is very limited there and the taste is not authentic Indian, it's more a South African restaurant with some Indian menu items. I am not so sure about the non-vegetarian items as the restaurant was quite full but I won't go there again for vegetarian dinner or lunch. The snacks are fine but not all are nice.

5. Thank You - I started the counter again and took it to around 6000 by the end of this week. Other than that the week was only running to the office and coming back and nothing major happened other than the YouTube income started pouring in. Thank You to Lord Bajrang Bali Ji.

Thanks, Universe for taking me to the 42nd birthday this week and now I am working towards the next few years and hope them to be more productive years. I hope that I will be able to work towards something I always wanted to do and can focus on the necessary steps in the coming days.

Cheers!!!
