Are You Ready For #ArijitSingh Melodious Voice #SouthAfrica 10-11 Feb @BluBloodSA #Contest

Hi Friends,

Bringing Indian music to global fame, Arijit Singh, “the small town boy who made it big”, is undoubtedly one of Bollywood’s leading playback singers and he is set to woo audiences in South Africa in February 2018. Leading the playback pack, this will be Arijit’s first visit to Durban on 10 February at the Durban ICC Arena, and he returns to Johannesburg the following night on 11 February at the Sun Arena Time Square, Menlyn.

Blu Blood and Showtime Promotions, both synonymous with bringing world-class entertainment to South Africa, are excited to be bringing out one of Bollywood’s biggest driving forces who is continuously scaling new heights.

“Arijit is one of the most versatile and successful singers of Indian music and cinema and we are so proud to be able to bring him back to South Africa. In fact, it was Blu Blood that brought out Arijit for his first ever international show. This is going to be the biggest Bollywood musical extravaganza to hit African soil,” comments Blu Blood’s MD, Osman Osman.

Veesham Maharaj of Showtime Promotions adds: “Bollywood lovers have been patiently waiting for Arijit’s return to South Africa and we are excited to be able to add Durban to the tour this time. This is our biggest concert to date. Arijit’s team will be coming in a month earlier to ensure that all logistics and technical details are on track for the big show.”

Arijit is more than just a singer, a jack of all trades, he is a musician and live performer, composer, producer, recordist, and music programmer and he has an impressive string of credits behind his name. Are You Ready For #ArijitSingh Melodious Voice #SouthAfrica @BluBloodSA #Contest
His music career began when he participated in the reality show ‘Fame Gurukul’ in 2005. Although he only made it to 6th position, the filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali recognized his talent and brought Singh on to sing Yun Shabnami for an upcoming film. The song was never released. Similarly, he was signed for an album, again, the album was never released. But this did not stop Arijit, he would soon become one of the most celebrated artists in the Indian music industry.

He participated shortly after in another reality show, ’10 ke 10 Le Gaye Dil’, which he won. He invested the prize money in building his own recording studio, where he started composing music for adverts and news and music channels. He spent the early part of his musical career as a producer, the only for him to survive in a city like Mumbai.

On his early career struggles, Singh has been quoted as saying: “One has to suffer pain to reach their destination, those days when I failed to get work, I thought about quitting and going back to my hometown, but I realised that one should concentrate on one’s work no matter what happens.”

His break came in 2010/2011 when he started working on the films. His debut as a singer in the film industry came with the film ‘Kedi’ with the song Neeve Na Neeve Na. In 2011, he made his Bollywood music debut with the Mithoon-composition Phir Mohabbat from ‘Murder 2’. He also lent his vocals for Vishal-Shekhar’s composition Duaa in ‘Shanghai’ where the song fetched him the Mirchi Music Award for Upcoming Male Playback Singer.

His major breakthrough came in 2013 as lead and key vocalist in ‘Aashiqui 2’ where his song Tum Hi Ho which fetched him several awards and nominations including the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Singer. In 2015, he made his Tamil debut with the song Neeye Vaazhkai Enbena from the film ‘Pugazh’.

2017 has seen Singh lend his voice to the likes of Shah Rukh Khan and rendered a romantic song duet with Harshdeep Kaur, Zaalima for the movie ‘Raees’. He provided his vocals for the Salim-Sulaiman’s compositions Kuch Parbat Hilayein and Babul Mora for the film ‘Poorna’, to name a few.

Arijit Singh – Live In Concert will be an unforgettable musical journey with Arijit’s biggest chart-toppers, fan favorites, and classics. His shows are renowned worldwide and this show will be no different.

The Rise And Rise Of The #Smartphone @SamsungMobileSA #SmartphoneApps

Hi Friends,

Can you even imagine your life without your smartphone? It hasn’t taken long for these must-have devices to become an essential and integral part of daily life. It’s estimated that as much as 58.7% of the world use smartphones.[i] But how have they changed the way we do things?

Well, just 10 years ago, most people couldn’t conceive having an actual conversation with a mobile device. Now it’s common to have an intricate chat with your very own built-in personal assistant, like Bixby. From getting directions and restaurant recommendations to dictating e-mails or ordering flowers online for your mom, smartphones and their assistants can do just about anything.

Today most people simply can’t imagine life without one – smartphones have evolved to such an extent that they’ve moved way beyond mere communication to being a constant companion that’s geared to learn your unique needs and make your life easier to navigate. The millions of apps that can be downloaded and used can help you track your health, control your connected appliances, give you directions, remind you of appointment and even edit videos or build websites.

Doing business on a mobile device has gone beyond sitting in a coffee shop making endless phone calls. E-mails, internet research, design and invoicing are all now possible. Capturing images and videos on the go has never been easier and in-built security features like Knox make it entirely safe to conduct business wherever you are. When it comes to education, learners not only have access to the internet but also to the world’s best teachers and experts, through their devices.

According to a survey, almost half of Smartphone users use their phone for access health-related services.[ii] Whether it’s to use an app to monitor glucose levels or verify a prescription, a fitness tracker or healthy recipe finder, smartphones have impacted the way people interact with their own health and wellness.
The Rise And Rise Of The #Smartphone @SamsungMobileSA
Social media accounts for almost two hours each day, with the top apps being YouTube, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter.[iii]

In 2012, editor of the website The Next Web, cataloged devices that were made obsolete by smartphone. His list included MP3 players, point-and-shoot digital cameras, GPS, alarm clocks, flashlights, handheld gaming systems, e-readers, voice recorders, dictionaries, infrared remotes and web-conferencing devices. This is a lot longer now.

A recent British poll indicated that using a smartphone to make phone calls doesn’t even reach the top 10 reasons for owning one. The majority of people cited the following regarding their smartphone use: texting – 88%; e-mail – 70%, Facebook – 62%, camera – 61%, reading news – 58%, online shopping - 56%, checking the weather – 54%, WhatsApp – 51%, Banking – 45%, watching videos on YouTube – 42%.[iv]

Craige Fleischer, Vice President of Integrated Mobility say, “Most people don’t realize that as early as 2001, Samsung was already building smartphones – the SPH-1300 came out in October that year. And that was just the beginning of the smartphone rise. From the BlackJack line to the Instinct, which was before Android, to the Omnia with TouchWiz and then the current star of the smartphone show – the Galaxy S line.”

Even with all the incredible tech now in the palm of your hand, the evolution of the smartphone is still in its infancy – technological innovation is consistently moving ahead of the curve, with giants like Samsung leading the race to intuitively address user’s future needs and desires.

@ZeeClassic Presents The ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’ 7Jan-11Feb Every #Sunday @ 12 Noon

Hi Friends,

Best known for his evergreen movies, Teesri Manzil, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Nasir Hussain was amongst those few in the industry who seldom gave a flop. Father to the director and producer Mansoor Khan, uncle to the perfectionist Aamir Khan, Nasir Hussain was a writer, producer, and director par excellence. Commemorating his contribution to Indian Cinema, Zee Classic, with its proposition Woh Zamana Kare Deewana, has curated over a month-long festival titled ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’. Starting 7th January, the festival will showcase his greatest hits including Yaadon Ki Baarat, Hum Kisise Kam Naheen, Teesri Manzil, Zamaana Ko Dikhana Hai, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Manzil Manzil, every Sunday at 12 noon.
@ZeeClassic Presents The ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’ 7Jan-11Feb Every #Sunday @ 12 Noon
@ZeeClassic Presents The ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’ 7Jan-11Feb Every #Sunday @ 12 NoonBorn in 1926 to a conservative family, Nasir Hussain had a keen interest in movies and theatrical works. However, his father who was a history teacher was apprehensive of Nasir Hussain’s passion but that did not deter him from doing what he loved the most. When he moved to Lucknow to pursue his BA, he actively began writing short plays for radio and at times even played minor roles. Film producer Sashadhar Mukherjee impressed by Nasir Hussain’s writing credentials hired him for his Filmistan studios in 1948 and there was no looking back for Nasir Hussain. The same producer inspired Nasir Hussain to start directing and his first movie was Tumsa Nahin Dekha with Shammi Kapoor in 1957.

An important anecdote from his days at Filmistan is that when Hussain decided to direct his debut film Tumsa Nahin Dekha (1957), he wanted Dev Anand to play the leading role. But since Dev Sahab turned down the role, Sashadhar Mukherjee wanted him to take Shammi Kapoor. Hussain was skeptical about this suggestion. Shammi Kapoor himself was considering quitting films when Tumsa Nahin Dekha was offered to him. But as luck turned out, Tumsa Nahin Dekha clicked in a big way at the box office and there was no looking back for both Hussain and Shammi Kapoor.

@ZeeClassic Presents The ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’ 7Jan-11Feb Every #Sunday @ 12 NoonZee Classic brings the best of Nasir Hussain who is often touted as the man of firsts. Nasir Hussain created the first Bollywood Masala film with Teesri Manzil in 1966 and introduced musical romance with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. Writer Salim Khan who contributed to the movie Teesri Manzil said, “Nasir Hussain was the individual who gave romantic heroes a comic twist.”
Nasir Hussain always maintained that it was more interesting to show the process of the hero and heroine falling in love run through the film rather than have the hero and heroine in love and that is what makes his films special. His films made the process of boy wooing the girl and winning her over a most enjoyable affair.
@ZeeClassic Presents The ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’ 7Jan-11Feb Every #Sunday @ 12 Noon
With such a strong element of romance in his films, it is but natural that his films were known for their superb music. Each and every composer did some of their best work for him be it OP Nayyar (Tumsa Nahin Dekha, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon), Shankar-Jaikishen (Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai), Usha Khanna (Dil Deke Dekho) and of course RD Burman who did all of Hussain’s films following Teesri Manzil (1966). In fact, The Nasir Hussain-RD Burman-Majrooh Sultanpuri team created musical history together through Teesri Manzil, Baharon Ke Sapne, Pyar Ka Mausam, Caravan, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Hum Kisise Kum Naheen and Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai.

@ZeeClassic Presents The ‘Nasir Hussain Film Festival’ 7Jan-11Feb Every #Sunday @ 12 NoonFor all the music lovers, you may recognize Nasir Hussain better, for he is the one whose songs are most remembered. Still guessing? O Haseena Zulfonwali, O Mere Sona Re, Chura Liya hai tumne jo dil ko if not the original, the remixes will ring a bell. Adding to this list are, ‘Aye Mere Humsafar’ or ‘Papa Kehte Hain’!
His son Mansoor Khan took over the reins and Hussain continued to write for Mansoor’s films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander (1992). Among his firsts is also the cult movie Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar which highlighted the issues of competition, failure in love and a strong desire to fit in, that every teenager faces even today.

To entertain viewers with unheard stories of Nasir Hussian and enhance their movie-viewing experience, Zee Classic has also curated special features revolving around the life of the legendary filmmaker. It includes views of stalwarts of Indian cinema like Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, Juhi Chawla, Ayesha Jhulka, Prem Chopra, Dalip Tahil, and Lalit Pandit amongst others. These special features along with additional exclusive interviews will be showcased during the telecast of movies on Zee Classic.
