Smart Watch @HuaweiZA finally makes it's debut #IFA2015

Hi Guys,

Huawei today officially introduced the new Huawei watch to European markets at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The watch, with its classic design inspired by Swiss timepieces, is the first smartwatch in the Huawei wearable family and seamlessly bridges the gap between fashion and technology. Beyond a fashion statement, the watch enables users to stay connected wherever they are with notifications of calls, texts, instant messages and emails.

Crafted to meet the expectations of the fashion conscious user, including a fully circular 1.4-inch touch-sensitive AMOLED display, coated in scratch-proof sapphire crystal (the favoured choice among Swiss watch manufacturers) and a cold-forged stainless steel frame, its design embodies the space where fashion meets technology. The watch is 42mm in diameter - the traditional dimension for wristwatches – with a unique design with its crown located at the two o’clock position.

The watch comes in a three different colours including rose gold, stainless steel and black and the ability to select from a variety of bespoke watch face designs, across a range of classic, luxury, business, feminine, modern and simple aesthetics. There is also a choice of straps including stainless steel mesh, stainless steel links, rose gold, and black-plated stainless steel links, and brown and black leather. The straps are easy to change and users can fit any watch strap with 18mm width lug interface.
The Huawei watch is a perfect exercise companion with a heart rate sensor to measures heart rate and the 6-axis motion sensor can track activities including walking, running, cycling and mountain climbing. It is also able to download music for offline playback via Bluetooth, which can also link up to wireless headphones.

The watch is powered by the latest version of Android Wear, which for the first time supports both Android and iOS devices. Music can be started with voice commands and users can search for destinations and navigate there using the same voice actions. Locating missing phones has never been easier than with the watch’s “find my phone” function.

While the watch sets the bar from a technology standpoint Huawei is teaming up with international fashion photographer, Mario Testino to produce a campaign featuring American supermodel Karlie Kloss and one of the world’s top male models, Sean O’Pry. This is the first time that Huawei has worked with these fashion icons to convey its vision of a world where fashion and technology converge.

South African availability and pricing will be announced at a later date. Every smartphone and other brands are running towards making these smart as well as lifestyle watches and Huawei has made an impressive attempt on the same too. I am still thinking which one I will wear on my wrist first but I am totally fallen for Fitbit Charge HR which has limited functionality as compared to smartwatches but it has what I want to check daily and that is my sleeping pattern.

Mate S: @HuaweiZA Luxurious Smartphone unveiled #IFA2015

Hi Guys,

Huawei unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Huawei Mate S, at a special event in Berlin. The Mate S features new luxury-focused design packed with innovative technology to deliver the best possible Android experience. Key features of the new phone include a floating 2.5D screen, a pressure sensitive touch system and a new battery technology to give the users the maximum usages from a single charge. This is in addition to enhancements to the camera, the fingerprint reader and the touch controls introduced in previous models.
“Our goal in designing the Huawei Mate S was to develop a smartphone that offers a personalised experience, rather than a commoditised one,” said Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer BG. “The Huawei Mate S is based on insights we gathered about human interaction – most notably that touch is a natural action we take to understand our world. The Huawei Mate S redefines how we incorporate touch technology into our smartphones, breaking through the conventional way of touch screen control and ushering in new imagination for human-machine interaction.”

The Mate S’ touch screen control technology uses an unconventional design to strike a balance between the phone’s brilliant capabilities and its stunning visual appearance. Building on the revolutionary Huawei Mate 7 smartphone, the Mate S features a 5.5 inch 2.5D AMOLED screen that is 7.2 millimeters thick at the centre but with a width on the edges of just 2.65 millimeters. The arched back cover is designed to fit perfectly into the palm of a hand, making the phone less likely to be dropped.

Touch is at the heart of the Huawei Mate S, creating an enhanced experience for users that simplifies their interaction with the device. When viewing photos, they can be quickly previewed and enlarged by pressing the screen with one finger, streamlining the operations of a traditional phone. The Mate S can also be used as a scale to weigh objects. The phone is equipped with Fingerprint 2.0, an upgraded version of the advanced chip level security and one-key unlock technology pioneered in the Mate 7. Fingerprint 2.0 halves recognition speeds, with more accurate self-learning functions. It can also be used to control the notification bar, erase unread notifications, preview pictures, and hold and take phone calls. All of these options improve the one hand operation of the phone.

Fingerprint 2.0 and Knuckle Control 2.0 – technology first introduced in the Huawei P8 – simplifies how users switch between app operations and take screenshots. The feature offers users a new way to interact with their phone: drawing a “C” with their knuckle activates a camera, while double-clicking the screen with a knuckle records the screen in the form of a video. With these options, every type of touch provides an opportunity to be innovative.

The Mate S is equipped with a camera that considers users’ needs in everyday life as well as professional camera setting. The 13-megapixel rear camera features an advanced sensor with optical image stabilisation, dual color-temp LED flash lights, and independent image signal processor camera units, all of which combine to capture higher quality pictures faster. The Mate S takes camera capabilities one-step further by offering an 8-megapixel front camera with soft, front lights to improve selfies.

The professional camera mode allows for manual adjustment of ISO, exposure compensation, exposure time, white balance and focusing, and functions such as the grid, and flash-assisted focusing.
The Mate S takes regular recording functions to the next level by leveraging three microphones to support a smart direction algorithm. The Mate S’ beam-forming algorithm allows all three mics to focus on the sounds coming from where the phone is facing, enabling a clear recording with minimal background noises. For consumers on the go, the Mate S also supports Mopria printing general protocol, which includes 700 printer types across 29 leading brands.

The Mate S will be initially available in more than 30 countries including China, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, Spain, South Africa and UAE. The Mate S will be available for pre-order in Western Europe on Vmall.eu starting Tuesday, September 15. Exact South African availability and pricing will be announced at a later date. I am awaiting this awesome new upgrade as I loved Huawei Mate 7 when I had it for review. I am loving some of the latest features in Huawei P8.

#Showmax Video On Demand @showmaxonline launched #SouthAfrica

Hi Guys,

The continued roll-out of high-speed internet connectivity worldwide is driving a change in viewing habits. In addition to watching scheduled television, people are increasingly consuming movies and series via a range of video on demand services. These services are primarily differentiated by the size and quality of their catalogue, and until now the options available in South Africa have been limited in comparison to those available overseas. On 19 August, ShowMax launched a new video on demand service that is a giant leap forward in the range of content available to local consumers. Whether it will bring the Netflix kind of change here in South Africa or not, only time will tell.
ShowMax has content adding up to more than a year’s continuous viewing of series, movies, documentaries, a wide selection of children’s shows, and an array of classics. Complete box sets of heavyweight series such as Entourage, Game of Thrones, and The Wire form the foundation of the service, and ShowMax brings new shows such as “The Late Late Show with James Corden” to the South African audience. The content catalogue, which totals more than 10,000 hours, spans major production studios from across the globe as well as local African content. This brings ShowMax customers two unique benefits – a library many multiples larger than those currently available via local services, and also African content not available via services originating outside the continent.
ShowMax is available via a wide range of smart devices with an Internet connection. This includes mobile phones and tablets via iOS and Android apps, laptop and desktop computers using a range of web browsers, and Samsung and LG smart TVs.
ShowMax is offering a seven-day trial period, with free access to the entire library in order to test the service. The ongoing cost of subscription is R99 per month, which allows access via five different devices. Two different video streams may be watched simultaneously on separate devices using the single monthly subscription. More information is available via www.showmax.com.
The company is aiming to change the game. ShowMax won’t just be the best subscription video on demand service available in South Africa - we’re competing with the best in the world, confirms John Kotsaftis, General Manager of Showmax South Africa.

I am really looking forward to using this service for 7 days as I really want to start watching Entourage and other local productions. If I liked the same, I will get the premium services so that the continuity of watching my favorite series is maintained on all my devices.

Cheers!!!

EISA Consumer Smartphone Award goes to #IgniteP8 @HuaweiZA

Hi Guys,

Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has been awarded ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2015 – 2016’ by the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) for its latest flagship smartphone, Huawei P8. This is the third consecutive year that Huawei has been recognized by EISA in this category.
Building on the success of last year’s award‐winning Ascend P7, the new Huawei P8 is the culmination of the P series’ rich heritage of style and functionality, and is once again redefining the smartphone market with easy-to-use features that amaze and inspire consumers. EISA praised Huawei for delivering ”improved camera performance and surprisingly high‐end craftsmanship that gives this affordable device a truly sophisticated appearance.” It highlighted its 2,680mAh capacity battery, f/2 lens developed for better low‐light performance and the P8’s excellent 5.2‐inch Full HD IPS‐NEO display. I am still awaiting to review the device and hope to use it forever as my day-to-day smartphone also if Huawei agrees to the same.

The low-light camera performance allows consumers to be more creative using the best light painting facility available on a smartphone and amazing crisp high contrast shots. The P8 also features a compact and powerful dual-antenna design plus rapid switching technology allows the phone to intelligently recognize the best mode reduces dropped calls and maintains a stronger signal.
“We are proud to be presented with this award for the third year in a row. We are committed to challenging the industry and revolutionizing how a smart phone is used - the Huawei P8 is the most user-friendly smartphone for consumers globally,” said Glory Zhang, Chief Marketing Officer, Consumer Business Group (BG).

In August 2014, Huawei Ascend P7 was named ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2014 – 2015’ and was praised for its ‘beautiful glass finish’, ‘attractive price’ and its 8-million-pixel front-facing camera and rear 13-million-pixel sensor with flash and supporting apps. Huawei Ascend P7 is now on sale in over 100 countries and has shipped more than 7 million units since it was launched. In 2013, Huawei had been awarded the ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2013 – 2014’ for the ultra slim 6.18mm Ascend P6. I have not used any of the P series phones but they are very slim and loaded with technology to keep you engaged to your smartphone all the time. Before & After Party @SavannaCider - It's EPIC! #Jozi

Hi Guys,

Savanna, the premium cider that knows how to stand out from the crowd, took centre stage at an epic Before and After party at The Forum in Johannesburg. It was large, lavish and had everything that a heart desires. Great vibe, good food and above all, Premium Cider called Savanna Lite, Dry and Dark.
“This was one of the Before and After party series taking place throughout South Africa – each event being a unique consumer experience. The evening was a celebration of the new Savanna bottle – the first change since the cider was launched in 1996,” says SA Marketing Manager, Marcel Swain.
The guy is so humble that he walked up to me along with the esteemed photographer Marinda HeatWaveStudios  to click a picture with me and my wife. A lot of other photographs which I clicked are on my instagram page at araijain. Thanks a lot to Savanna for the invite.

Savanna fans rubbed shoulders with top comedians, Kagiso Lediga and Kurt Schoonraad, before getting into the groove with the likes of DJ Euphonic, DJ Speedsta, DJ Tira and Big Nuz in the dock. The music was extraordinary and all the guests were dancing wherever they are on the floor. There was a game where everyone interested has to get 4 stamps from various stalls on display on a passport kind which will then go into a lucky draw. A lucky girl won the Beats HD headphones and a couple won some expensive sunglasses from Savanna. It was not a goodies day for me thought but I enjoyed the music and awesome desserts.
You too can join the fun and track Savanna on #SavannaCider and catch all the action on facebook.com/savannacider, Twitter @SavannaCider, Instagram.com/savannacider and YouTube. Savanna’s brand new mobile-first website www.savannacider.com is also worth checking out and you can participate in various contests from time to time to win special prizes and invites to such parties.

Cheers!!!
