Montecasino Hosts The Largest Give Away In S.A! @MontecasinoZA #MonteMagic

Hi Friends,

While the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns forced Montecasino’s ‘Anyone Can Win A Ferrari’ promotion into a couple pitstops for a few months, the campaign was back on track as soon as safely possible and finally came to an end on Wednesday, December 15 when the big prize in the promotion, a Ferrari California T was won. With about 2.2-million entries received during the campaign, Nita Sequeira of Craigavon couldn’t believe her luck when her entry from 200 finalists was selected as the lucky winner of the car, valued at R3.8million. Sequiera was given the good news telephonically, live on 947’s Drive With Thando by Montecasino’s Director Of Operations, Mike Page.

“This has been an incredible journey, to say the least. When our marketing manager, Gareth Kaschula came to me with the idea to give away an R3.8m car, I thought it nearly impossible but here we are – proud to have hosted, probably the largest give away in the country!”, says Page

Christmas came early for Craigavon resident Nita Sequeira when she won a fabulous new Ferrari California T, valued at R3.8-million, in Montecasino’s ‘Anyone Can Win A Ferrari’ promotion on Wednesday afternoon, December 15. Here a thrilled Sequeira Is pictured next to her racy new set of wheels outside the entertainment mecca in the north of Jozi. During the promotion, which started in November 2019 and was extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing lockdowns and restrictions Montecasino also gave away three "Italian Packages" (each valued at R550 000) which included a Fiat Abarth, official Ferrari merchandise and a Montecasino Experience, an all-expenses-paid trip to Italy, R1million award to one ticketholder and millions in prize money during the campaign. Plans are currently afoot for an even bigger and better promotion so watch Montecasino’s social media platforms to see what’s next.

Global Chess Day celebrated in Diepsloot @MontecasinoZA @TsogoSun #TsogoCSR

Hi Guys,

The International Day of Chess was celebrated with fun chess games and lessons by Montecasino’s Tsogo Sun Moves for Life programme at five Diepsloot Primary Schools, from 25-28 July. The International Day of Chess, under the auspices of the World Chess Federation since 1966, traditionally falls on 20 July, and was celebrated by the Diepsloot pupils on their return from school holidays.

The aim of the activities for the three foundation grades was to focus on chess as an inclusive and entertaining sport that can be applied in many different aspects of learning.

Nationally, Tsogo Sun Moves for Life operates in 50 schools around the country, with 19 549 participating learners, 543 educators, and 17 tutors from the local communities. The programmes are sponsored by seven of Tsogo Sun’s casinos. Montecasino has been sponsoring the chess programme in Diepsloot for four years in five primary schools, accommodating 3 797children.

The participating primary schools are Reshomile, Diepsloot Primary No. 4, Muzomuhle, Paradise Bend, and Musenga Vhadzimu.

The chess fun and games took place during the normal chess lessons and included ‘chess charades’ for Grade 1s; ‘the chess piece is me’ for Grade 2s, where the kids used recycled media to design themselves as chess pieces, wrote about why they chose the piece, and shared their choices with their classmates; and a ‘tic tac chess tournament’ for Grade 3s, a chess version of noughts and crosses, where winners played winners until the last child standing became the grade winner.

Says Shanda Paine, Tsogo Sun’s Group CSI Manager, “The International Day of Chess activities over the four days were a huge hit with the children, who participated wholeheartedly, while gaining skills in chess, maths, communication, expression, reasoning, planning, creativity, self-confidence, and more, as well as creating greater awareness of the significant benefits that chess can offer every child within the schools and among parents.”

Mike Page, Operations Director and Complex GM of Montecasino, “Montecasino is very privileged to be in a position to take this value-adding chess programme to these children in Diepsloot. The Tsogo Sun Moves for Life chess programme intentionally links chess principles to life skills, mathematics, science and language, and impacting the improvement of the educational performance of as many children as possible.”

@GoldReefCitySA Relaunched - Pure #Jozi, Pure #Gold! @TsogoSun

Hi Guys,

A leisure attraction characterized by a unique combination of nostalgia and thrilling entertainment, Gold Reef City has been relaunched following a multi-million rand refurbishment by Tsogo Sun. The glittering launch event that took place on the 19th of November was attended by Jozi’s most glamorous celebrities, key media, and leaders of the gaming and hospitality industry.

The first phase of what will be a R630 million investment by Tsogo Sun into the refurbishment and expansion of one of South Africa’s national tourist treasures has seen the property being elevated to a diverse, world-class entertainment destination. Says CEO of Tsogo Sun Marcel von Aulock, “This investment is in line with the group’s corporate strategy to invest in and expand its operations in South Africa. We are committed to ensuring that our properties stay relevant, fresh and competitive in the leisure market. Added to this, the selection of offerings at our properties are vitally important components in ensuring great experiences for all our guests.”
Mike Page (Gold Reef City) and Lillian Rasebi
City of Johannesburg Executive Mayor Parks Tau says, “For many South Africans, Gold Reef City conjures up images of carefree days spent exploring the Victorian buildings and gold mine that provided a perfect blend of educational and entertainment value. Today, Gold Reef City is, without doubt, the premier entertainment destination in southern Johannesburg. We applaud Tsogo Sun for its investment into ensuring that this attraction remains a significant contributor to the City of Johannesburg’s tourism industry, offering local and international visitors alike a truly unique experience.”

Operations Director and Complex General Manager of Gold Reef City, Mike Page, says, “There is nowhere else in South Africa, if not the world, where one can experience a world-class Theme Park, the historical significance of the Apartheid Museum, enjoy the thrill of a casino, an opulent theatre, and the family-friendly entertainment value of movies, 10-pin bowling, a games arcade and a diverse selection of restaurants.”

Among the additions to the property are several new and upgraded restaurants, including the stylish Back o’ the Moon, which has undergone a total revamp and offers accessible upmarket dining. The property now also offers a Vigour & Verve restaurant, Spur Steak Ranch, Boston BBQ (family buffet restaurant), Calisto’s Portuguese Restaurant, The Raj Indian Restaurant, Ocean Basket, Vida e Café and Col Cacchio Pizzeria as well as a food court.

In keeping with Tsogo Sun’s philosophy of establishing strategic partnerships with radio stations and leveraging the opportunity to bring radio alive within Tsogo Sun’s entertainment destinations, a Kaya FM satellite studio is now also housed in Gold Reef City.

Young Gold Reef City fans have not been forgotten, with the addition of a Magic Company twelve-lane bowling alley, not to mention cinemas. One of the most spectacular new additions to Gold Reef City is Tsogo Sun’s movie franchise, Movies@ Gold Reef City, featuring a cinema complex themed as a Victorian train station. Six theatres, offering a total of 1 048 seats, four of which have 3D capability, provide a variety of cinematic options for Gold Reef City visitors. The largest theatre is Platform 2, called Grand Central, which has 322 seats. Platform 3, which seats 84, boasts luxurious leather seats and a bar, making it an ideal venue for intimate corporate functions and exclusive VIP events.

The new Salon Privé features an opulent gaming ambience with its own private entrances, playing areas, baccarat room, internet and cash desk facilities, lobby and VIP desk, as well as an exclusive lounge.

“Gold Reef City has a long history of providing a unique combination of educational, historical and leisure attractions to the city of Johannesburg. This great heritage has been enhanced with the addition of the new facilities, offering visitors an even wider range of experiences than ever before. This is a place to connect with our history, to do business, to be entertained or to spend a day getting the adrenaline pumping,” says Page.

Just eight kilometres from the city centre, eight kilometres from Soweto, 15 kilometres from Sandton and 25 kilometres from O.R. Tambo International Airport Gold Reef City is accessible and convenient. Gold Reef City is one of Tsogo Sun’s 14 casino and entertainment destinations and over 90 hotels throughout South Africa, Africa, the Seychelles and Abu Dhabi.
