The Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, the world’s first Tango-enabled smartphone, is now available on shelves and online, and studios around the world are using the Phab 2 Pro as a working model to develop innovative Tango apps. As a result, the Phab 2 Pro will be delivering on the original Tango experience on a number of new apps, which have introduced unique AR and VR experiences to the phones of new Tango users.

These include many high quality AR/VR games such as Hot Wheels Track Builder, Fury of the Gods or Crayola Color Blaster. At its core, however, Tango is a tool meant to make your phone more useful. Take, for instance, the Phab 2 Pro’s preloaded Measure app, which uses Tango’s depth perception capabilities to quickly measure interiors and real world objects (and allows users to see the measurements displayed in augmented reality). And there are now a diverse range of retail, education and camera apps that promise to the re-imagine the way you use your smartphones.

The retail experience is changing with Tango. Lowe’s and Wayfair have both showcased Tango apps that let users place actual-size furniture or home furnishings in their interiors before reaching a purchase decision, saving them on trips to the store. Users can view, walk around and examine these home additions through the screen of their Phab 2 Pro as if they were actually there. Another interior design app, iStaging, pairs the spatial perception features of Tango with its own Immersive Reality® technology to let users design their interiors right from the Phab 2 Pro. Users will have the opportunity to walk around the furnishings, floor tilings and even wallpaper they’ve chosen in their own homes to see if they fit. They’ll also be able to take pictures of the design to share with their friends or family. And if they can want to make a purchase, they can order the item straight from the app.

iStaging offer products from a range of brands, including HomePlaneur, PIXERS, Arredoclassic and HOLA. iStaging’s Floor Planner app is also among a number of apps that allows designers and real estate professionals to measure and map their interiors. Matterport and its Tango software are allowing users to capture an accurate 3D model of an indoor environment, offering virtual house tours for people interested in a property. Meanwhile, Sensopia’s MagicPlan lets you measure your rooms and draw floor plans just by taking pictures.

Tango also looks set to revolutionize education, with apps like Dinosaurs Among Us that allow viewers to walk among life-sized Velociraptors. Students can learn by exploring these virtual dinosaurs, where information referencing the latest research from paleontologists at the American Museum of Natural History is overlaid over various features of the dinosaur. Another educational app that’s perfect for the classroom or the home, Angstrom Tech’s Solar Simulator at Scale, lets teachers, parents and children project a scale model of the solar system into their living room, hallway or gym. The user starts by “placing” the sun at one end of an enclosed space in the real world—let’s say, the living room. Then the user moves to the far end of the room to place Neptune. Once that’s done, the app automatically scales the solar system to fit into your living room. Users and their friends can then walk among the planets in augmented reality, and find out just how far Saturn is from Earth.

You can also film yourself and friends with a hologram of your favorite celebrity or character. The aptly named “Holo” mixed-reality app will soon be available from an exciting new studio called 8i. Holo allows users to add augmented reality holograms to real-world environments such as a living room or shopping mall. These holograms come in “holopacks,” comprising photorealistic 3D holograms of animals, celebrities, fictional characters, athletes and musical artists. Once you’ve added the hologram, move it around, resize or rotate it - then add as many holograms and virtual assets as you want to design your tableau. And when everything’s ready, get yourself and/or your friends into the picture to put on final touches. Then take a photo or record a video you can share with friends on Twitter or YouTube.

A lot has happened to the Tango ecosystem in the past few months since the Phab 2 Pro was first launched. The first wave of apps promises to be just the beginning, with the benefits of owning Tango-enabled smartphone multiplying along with the number of apps that are coming down the pipe in 2017. Teachers Test their Chess Skills in Fun Tournament @MontecasinoZA #MovesForLife

In a fun and informal chess tournament to thank teachers for their valuable contribution to the Tsogo Sun Moves for Life Chess programme, 85 teachers from five primary schools in the Diepsloot area pitted their skills against each other in a series of friendly games and quizzes at Montecasino, which sponsors the programme in the area.

Nationally, Tsogo Sun Moves for Life operates in 57 schools around the country, with 23 766 participating learners, 569 educators, and 22 tutors from the local communities. The programmes are sponsored by eight of Tsogo Sun’s casinos, which also sponsor annual chess tournaments for learners from the schools in their catchments areas, as well as separate chess tournaments for the teachers, to give them a well-earned break from teaching for a day.

The teachers are from Paradise Bend Primary, Muzomuhle Primary, Diepsloot 4 Primary, Reshomile Primary, and Musengavhadzimu Primary.

Says Shanda Paine, Tsogo Sun Group CSI Manager, “The aim of the Moves for Life chess programme is to use chess as an education tool that helps to improve maths, science, and problem-solving in learners – particularly in disadvantaged areas. We’re extremely aware that the strength of the programme is dependent on the dedication, enthusiasm, hard work that the teachers put in, as well as the sacrifices that they make to ensure the success of the programme. We’re indebted to them and this is one way we can treat them to a day of entertainment and fun at our participating casinos.” The tournament also serves as social year-end event for the teachers in the programme.

In the Teacher Tournaments different work stations are set up where the teachers compete in friendly games such as quizzes and board games that test their chess knowledge, as well as the classroom activities and integrated lessons that they have implemented during the year.

This is the second year that Tsogo Sun Moves for Life Teacher Tournaments have been hosted. “The teachers are very enthusiastic about these tournaments – and every year the numbers of participating teachers increases. Not only is it a day of fun, but they also say they enjoy networking with teacher colleagues from other schools, and the chance to pick up ideas and suggestions on how to improve their own lessons,” adds Paine.

As these are not formal tournaments, there is no overall winning teacher or school, but there are constant small prizes that are won at every work station during the course of the games.

“We’re delighted at the growth and success of the Tsogo Sun Moves for Life chess programme over the past few years and proud of the youngsters who are moving up to participate in major chess championships around the country, but we’re also thrilled that the programme is proving to be an effective tool that is equipping teachers to master maths concepts, which in turn is helping children to master the basic building blocks of maths in a fun and incidental way,” says Paine.

New #TONE of Wearable Sound Innovations #CES2017 @LGSouthAfrica

LG Electronics (LG), a leader in Bluetooth headset technology, will unveil a number of new wireless, wearable audio products at CES® 2017. The line-up will be led by TONE Studio wearable speakers capable of delivering amazing 3D surround sound and TONE Free earphones with wireless earbuds that charge when docked in the companion neckband.

The LG TONE Studio (model HBS-W120) personal wearable speaker features four speakers – two full range on the top and two vibrating on the bottom – that give a personal surround sound experience when watching a movie, playing a video game or simply streaming music. Its sound is designed in collaboration with surround sound experts at DTS to bring a realistic theatre-like sound for a cinematic experience wherever you may be. The TONE Studio features a Hi-Fi DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) that enhances sound quality by recreating audio content as accurately as possible. What’s more is that with Dual Play, you can connect two LG TONE Studio wearable speakers and share the sound from a movie, playlist or more.

A Memoir - Year 2016 for www.TheLifesWay.com #Blog #AashishRai (1000 Post)

Hi Guys,

2016 has been the year when life changed so dramatically that it was hard to find time to do blogging as there was always some run around the mill kind of job happening all the time. There was also a change of job description which consumes most of my time leaving no energy to even switch on my personal laptop at the end of the day. But it's only in adversities like these your real passion comes out and blogging have given me everything I have since the last four years. 

The Life's Way in its fourth year of going live way back on 27th December 2012 achieved it's One Million Pageviews in 2016 on my birthday 22 July. The Life's Way achieved 518917 pageviews to take the total count to 1.26 Million pageviews with 396 blogposts shared in 2016. The Life's Way achieved many more features crossing 3200 followers on instagram.com/araijain and first 100 followers on www.facebook.com/TheLifesWay page along with twitter.com/TheLifesWay crossing 8900 followers. 

Though I didn't got sponsored by any brand for any of the products in 2016 but there was a lot of great events which gave some great goodie bags this year along with many which only gave a USB stick. The best being the Fanta Fun movie invite of Trolls which really was my top most dream come true where I won the Samsung's A5 (2016) smartphone which I am going to gift to my mom. Smartphone win has been eluded to me from so many years and this was a dream come true when finally I got a packaged one in my hands. Thanks to Fanta and their PR team for the same.

Secondly, I loved attending my first Logitech launch event of UE Roll2 and to my surprise I got one personalized at the end of the launch. It was so great to receive the launched product on the same day of the launch to keep. I am grateful to the brand and the PR company who invited me to that event. 

Thirdly, I am eternally grateful to Huawei for calling me to their smartphone launches where I have always got some nice goodies from Hugo Boss Sunglasses to Huawei Band and selfie-sticks this year. I gifted my Huawei band to my father and sunglasses to my mother when they visited South Africa for the first time this year. Though my wish is to get a Huawei Mate 9 or P9 Plus smartphone as my day to day phone but it has not happened in 2016. Fingers crossed for 2017!

I am so grateful to Tsogo Sun's Montecasino and Silverstar Casino PR teams for always making me a part of all their events. I have always received something or the other from Silverstar Casino as a gift and this year again I got one night stay in their Presidential suite. 

Thanks to Indiblogger for their IndiOne press releases launch where you get paid if chosen by the brand to post their content on your blog. I got chosen by some of the brands but it was not enough to cover the costs I spent on my blog in 2016 and no major assignments came from other brands too so making it extremely difficult year for The Life's Way.

2016 also saw my first visit on the MSC Cruises Ship from Durban to Mozambique on a 4-nights-5 days trip which was really an exciting experience of a lifetime. It was also my first trip to Durban and Balito. I travelled to Richards Bay, St. Lucia and Kruger also in some of the subsequent trips in 2016. I had so much fun showing my parents in and around Johannesburg and loved visiting some of the great places in Pretoria for the first time myself. Thanks to Flight Centre and Protea Hotels @ Paul Kruger Gate for making MSC cruise trip and Kruger trip possible respectively.

This completes my 1000th  post on www.thelifesway.com and I hope to see some 250+ posts this year and achieve 2 million pageviews by the end of 2017. But this year I want to get fully sponsored by the brand who can invest in me and in return I give them my content and a share of my day to day life. Looking forward to an awesome 2017 in The Life's Way!
