Movie Review - The Giver (2014)

Hi Guys,

The Giver (2014) is an American science fiction drama based on the novel written by Lois Lowry in 1993.

The movie is set in future somewhere around 2048 where a community has been built to control the pain and suffering a human being can take in their lifetime. There are no differentiation in anyone based on the caste, creed and social statuses as everyone wears the same dress, lives in same kind of houses, eats & drinks same kind of food and even drives the same kind of vehicles.

What happens when one of them is gifted with the memory which they used to control using the daily medicinal injections? He starts skipping the injections and also starts getting a lot of transmitted memories from the teacher. What teacher wanted to achieve when he sent him telepathically to various locations around the world is the theme of this movie?

The cinematography of the movie is really good. The locations that has been shown are majorly from South Africa. The movie has a emotional touch to the whole thing. The memories brings a lot of life to monotonous lives we live in. The movie will help you reinvent the love you have for life and what you can do in this limited time you have on this Planet Earth.

The Giver starts Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift, Katie Holmes, Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush & Alexander Skarsgard in lead roles. Taylor Swift has a very small role and looked amazingly beautiful. Meryl Streep & Jeff Bridges needs no introduction to acting and played their roles very well. Odeya supported Brenton very well in their journey towards the memories of life.

If you like science fiction movies, this one is definitely a worth watch with it's nice cinematography in a cinema near you. Movie is releasing in Ster Kinekor on 12th Sep 2014. Book your tickets now. More info on twitter and facebook
