Picnic at Hartbeespoort Dam #SouthAfrica #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures

Hi Friends, 

Life takes unexpected turns and twists but we come out stronger if we have someone to fall upon during these times mostly family and friends it is in these situations which we hold on to. 

Sometimes we all take a break with our loved ones to travel to destination far from home and enjoy the beauty nature has to offer. 

South Africa has no dearth of places like these where you can go and relax with your family or friends and easily enjoy your weekends or long weekend. 

Hartbeespoort Dam is around 50km from Johannesburg, South Africa towards Suncity and is a perfect place to have a picnic with family and friends. 

Not only you can relax near the water body but also do some water sports like jet-ski, speed boat, and many related activities. There is a fee to enter the picnic spot which is around R100 per car and the park is open till 530pm everyday. It's best to carry cash as some of the vendors don't have POS machines to charge your debit or credit cards. The place also has a clean toilet and other facilities available.

For people like me who just want to enjoy nature, we can do braai inside the picnic area by bringing our chairs and eatables to enjoy while enjoying the view and the fresh wind flowing over the water. You can also take an hour's tour of the dam in this boat but book well in advance.  

It looks like there is no end to the place where land meets the sky and both have turned blue in this divine country called South Africa where you can see a lot of sky from everywhere. 

I really loved these trees which not only enhanced the view of the place but also created some unique opportunities for photography using my Nikon D7000 camera. It's one of the most relaxing picnic spots I have ever been to in South Africa. Kids have plenty of jungle gyms to play and swings and many more activities to do while you relax. 

In the end, my boss used to say that you need to find one tree in your life which gives you comfort and power to plan your life ahead and this might be one of such trees at Hartbeespoort Dam.

Triumphal Arch on Hartbeespoort Dam #PhotoYatra #TheLifesWayCaptures

Hi Friends, 

Harbeespoort is a small resort town 60 km away from Johannesburg and it is a perfect spot to rest before continuing your journey to Sun City else this town is sufficient for your picnic or day visit needs. The place is known for Harbeespoort Dam and I am taking you to another end of the tunnel which you won't see if you are crossing for Sun City. To reach this place you need to follow a certain route and you will see this grand Triumphal Arch on Hartbeespoort Dam Wall. 

This is the only kind of Arch I have seen in the whole of South Africa if there are more I am totally missing them. Europe and the UK are filled with these kinds of monuments all across their cities. 

This place is kind of touch and go type as there is very limited parking after crossing the bridge and you have to walk back to see this monument.

Reaching this place is awesome as you drive around the dam and then cross a dark tunnel where the sound echoes and people generally honk their horns to enjoy the moment. 

This place is basically a Dam that supplies water to Johannesburg and nearby areas and extra water is released in this Magaliesberg mountains. 

This end is filled with a lot of broken branches collected at one end, plastic bottles and polythenes were thrown by people who do picnics and braai (Barbeque) around the dam at various picnic spots. We do need to take care of stuff by being responsible citizens and throw stuff in the right and marked bins. 

This is the lamp post and what beauty it is and people do put a lot of locks on the same, I don't know why? They may be doing it to mark their love which might change in some years but the lock will always remain at Hartbeespoort Dam wall. 

If you see far in the middle of the photo is the other end of the Dam and I will do post the photos from the other end in another post. If you have one day, you can easily visit Sun City and stay for a while and see Hartbeespoort as it offers a great relaxation spot and has some great cafes and bistro.
