#StarWars Superfans #GoRogue to Reveal New Toy Line #DisneyAfrica

Hi Guys,

A team of Star Wars superfans revealed the new toy line for the highly anticipated “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” movie via a series of fan-made animated shorts launching on the Star Wars YouTube (www.youtube.com/user/starwars) channel. As part of a competition in collaboration with creative network Tongal, a team was assembled to write, direct and produce the original, fan-made stop-motion shorts starring key toys from the new line to kick off a global social conversation with the hashtag #GoRogue.
Star Wars #GoRouge #TheLifesWay #PhotoYatra #DisneyAfrica
“These fan-created shorts are a tribute to the incredible content that the Star Wars community posts online every day,” said Jimmy Pitaro, Chairman, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “The Go Rogue campaign was designed with Star Wars fans in mind – we want them to be front and center in the run up to ‘Rogue One’ by imagining and creating their own Rogue Stories."

When Star Wars news breaks, many fans worldwide react by sharing their own videos online. According to new research (ZEFR online content report August 2016) fans posted over 838,000 pieces of Star Wars-related content on YouTube in the past year alone, which is more than 2,296 per day and nearly 96 per hour. Star Wars fan-generated content is also incredibly popular, accruing more than 16.3 billion views in the last year – equivalent to everyone in the world viewing at least two fan created videos.

“I’ve been a Star Wars fan my whole life so this is a dream project,” says James DeJulio, co-founder of Tongal. “It’s been amazing to see what an inspiration Star Wars has been to so many members of our creative community, whether that’s coming up with their own Star Wars storylines, or playing out scenes with Star Wars toys at home with their kids. I’m excited to share this ‘Rogue Story’ with the world as we celebrate the first standalone Star Wars film and the new characters and inspiration it brings to the Star Wars universe.”

The fan-created shorts showcasing the new line of “Rogue One” toys for the first time launches on the Star Wars YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/user/starwars) today, with new installments rolling out through September. The team was led by James DeJulio at Tongal, and the series was written by Kevin Ulrich and brought to life by stop-motion animators Dan MacKenzie and Tucker Barrie. The stories follow the adventures of “Rogue One” toys from Hasbro, LEGO, FUNKO, JAKKS Pacific, Mattel and Disney Store as they try to track down the building instructions to the LEGO Star Wars Death Star set which have been misplaced by the Empire.

The range of new “Rogue One” and Star Wars products will be available globally on September 30. Join the global social conversation with the hashtag #GoRogue. Tongal’s creative network includes 120,000 writers, directors and animators across 150 countries. For more information, go to www.tongal.com.

#SouthAfrica Sixth IMAX @SterKinekor Opens up with #TheForceAwakensSA

Hi Guys,

Following the ongoing success of The IMAX Experience® at five popular Ster-Kinekor sites – Gateway in Durban, The Grove Mall in Pretoria, Cape Gate in Cape Town, Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth and Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp – the country’s leading cinema chain officially launched its sixth IMAX® theatre on 15 December.
Star Wars super-fan on the black carpet
Joburg movie audiences can now enjoy the world’s most immersive cinematic experience in the 375-seat IMAX® theatre, which forms part of the new Ster-Kinekor state-of-the-art, ten cinema complex on the rooftop of Eastgate Shopping Centre. Built as a bespoke IMAX theatre, this cinema boasts the biggest screen of all six IMAX theatres across South Africa.

The IMAX theatre played host to the Official South African Special Event Screening of the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens: An IMAX 3D Experience. The more than 300 attendees – VIP guests, celebrities, media and Star Wars ‘super fans’ (suitably dressed for the occasion) – settled into the brand new IMAX seats and marveled at the impressive, ceiling to floor and wall to wall screen. Following speeches by the film’s distributor, The Walt Disney Company Africa, Ster-Kinekor and IMAX Corporation representatives, the audience was treated to a movie experience of inter-galactic proportions, as the audience travelled back to a galaxy far, far away…
Wanda Matandela CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres & Giovanna Dolci VP Theatre Dev EMEA of IMAX Corp
”At the end of business on Tuesday (15 December), pre-ticket sales for the film across all Ster-Kinekor cinema experiences – IMAX, Cine Prestige 3D and Ster-Kinekor 3D and 2D cinemas – had amassed to 63 200. This figure makes Star Wars: The Force Awakens the film with the second most advance bookings for Ster-Kinekor in recorded history,” says Wanda Matandela, CEO of Ster-Kinekor Theatres.
Fans of The IMAX Experience® at Ster-Kinekor Eastgate are in for a treat over the next few months with the release of a variety of movies for the whole family to enjoy: The Finest Hour; Deadpool; Divergent Series: Allegiant Part 1; Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice and The Jungle Book.
For more information about Ster-Kinekor Eastgate, visit www.sterkinekor.com or sterkinekor.mobi. Download the Ster-Kinekor app on your smart phone for the latest information and to make bookings. An Inter-Galactic IMAXPERIENCE @SterKinekor #TheForceAwakensSA #StarWars

Hi Guys,

The wait is nearly over… with just a few days to go until the South African release of the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens in IMAX® 3D on 16 December 2015. The film releases at Ster-Kinekor cinemas countrywide – including its IMAX and Cine Prestige theatres – two days before its US release. This seventh installment in the Star Wars Saga promises to be an adventure of epic proportions as audiences travel back to a galaxy far, far away!

As Star Wars fever grips South Africa, Ster-Kinekor has announced that advance bookings to watch the film in its IMAX® 3D theatres have reached record levels. To date, more than 34 500 tickets have already been purchased to watch Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Ster-Kinekor cinemas across South Africa.

Of these pre-sales, more than half the tickets – 18 300 (as at 09 December) – are bookings to watch the film in IMAX® 3D, which offers the most immersive cinematic experience in which to watch this latest film in the Star Wars Saga. Come 16 December, Ster-Kinekor estimates that pre-ticket sales across all its cinema offerings – IMAX® 3D, Cine Prestige 3D and in 2D and 3D at all other Ster-Kinekor cinemas – could reach record-breaking levels.
This figure also represents the most advance bookings of any IMAX title for Ster-Kinekor, which is quite an achievement, considering that this number of tickets is spread across only six screens: the IMAX theatres at Gateway in Durban, The Grove in Pretoria, Cape Gate in Cape Town, Baywest Mall in Port Elizabeth, Cradlestone Mall in Krugersdorp, and the new IMAX Theatre at Eastgate in Johannesburg.

Star Wars fans of all ages who have followed the saga will now be able to return to that galaxy far, far away, meet new heroes and villains, and welcome back some old friends in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Set 30 years after Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, cinema-goers will be able to delve into the events that transpired after the Rebel Alliance triumphed over the evil Galactic Empire over the forest moon of Endor.

The IMAX® 3D release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of an IMAX Experience® with proprietary IMAX DMR® (Digital Re-mastering) technology. The crystal-clear images coupled with IMAX's customised theatre geometry and powerful digital audio, create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie, and part of the Star WarsTM action. For an experience of universe-sized proportions, witness this adventure unfold in 3D at a Ster-Kinekor IMAX cinema near you. You may also connect with IMAX on Facebook (www.facebook.com/imax), Twitter (www.twitter.com/imax) and YouTube (www.youtube.com/imaxmovies).

Cheers!!!

Disney Infinity 3.0 - What Is It? #DisneyAfrica #StarWars

Hi Guys,

What’s in store for gaming fans of Disney Infinity 3.0: Play Without Limits? Let's get the lowdown on the intergalactic reboot…

WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
Disney Infinity 3.0 is the only game where players can experience the characters from Disney, DisneyŸPixar, Marvel and Star Wars – and play with them together. Want to see Luke Skywalker in a race with Cars Lightning McQueen from Cars? Want to find out who is stronger: Darth Vader or Marvel’s Hulkbuster? Discover the answers by playing Disney Infinity 3.0 !

GETTING STARTED…
“The Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack gets you up and running with the game and two figures,” explains Producer Mat Solie. Battle against evil with Disney Infinity 3.0 Starter Pack, which includes Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano.

GAME ON…
“At the start of Star Wars Twilight Of The Republic Play Set, you have to get through the Droid Factory on the planet of Geonosis,” reveals Mat Solie. “But you get to see many more iconic Star Wars locations throughout the Play Set. You travel to planets including Naboo, Tatooine and Coruscant – and a whole lot more!”

LOCATION, LOCATION…
“Each of the four big planets – Naboo, Coruscant, Tatooine and Geonosis – are giant open worlds that you can explore,” admits Mat Solie. “When you get to Coruscant, the Jedi temple is the main centerpiece – but you can also visit locations like the restaurant Obi-Wan Kenobi went to in Star Wars Episode II. There’s a lot to see!”

BLAST AWAY…
Ready for combat, gamers? “You can battle with lightsabers, blasters and Chewbacca’s iconic crossbow in the new Play Sets,” reveals Disney Infinity Senior Producer Mobile, Sean Patton.

LIGHT SPEED AHEAD…
“We did an entire re-haul of the combat system in Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition, so all of the characters have combo moves, as well as unique special moves based on the character,” admits Sean Patton. “Obi-Wan is a little more tactical and defensive, whereas Anakin will be more about brute force and power.”

WE HAVE LIFT OFF…
Not only do fans get the opportunity to play with lightsabers in the game, but they also get the chance to fly around the galaxy in iconic Star Wars vehicles. “You get to fly the Millennium Falcon in the Star Wars Rise Against The Empire Play Set,” admits Sean Patton. “It’s awesome! You can also bring it into the Toy Box 3.0 and play with it there.”

RISE UP…
The Star Wars Rise Against The Empire Play Set comes with Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia figures, but you can also add Han Solo, Chewbacca and many more to the game. The action is set within the timeline of the original movie trilogy, so there are tons of iconic locations to visit, including Hoth, Endor and Tatooine.

PIXAR PALS…
Not a fan of Star Wars? Don’t worry! Disney Infinity 3.0 has other games and iconic Disney characters for you to play around with. For starters, there’s a Play Set based on the popular DisneyŸPixar film, Inside Out.

HEAD INSIDE…
“The DisneyŸPixar Inside Out Play Set is a completely different type of game,” admits Mat Solie. “The Star Wars games are more about combat, both on foot and in vehicles. Inside Out is more of a classic platform game where you can play with the five emotions from the movie: Fear, Disgust, Sadness, Anger and Joy.”

MONSTER MASH…
“The Disney Pixar Inside Out Play Set is a cooperative puzzle-solving platformer set after the events of the newest Disney•Pixar film,” continues Mat Solie. “The emotions are all hanging out at Headquarters and Riley is about to go to sleep. She’s watching a funny cartoon on TV, but just as she falls asleep, the controller falls and switches the channel to a scary swamp monster movie. That’s where the fun begins!”

HAIRY SCARY…
“While Riley sleeps, there’s a lot of scary stuff going on inside her head,” adds Mat Solie. “It’s up to the five emotions to fix this! This means you get to head into Riley’s subconscious and sort out her scary thoughts.”

FIVE ALIVE…
“Each of the five emotions has a unique ability to help you through the game,” explains Mat Solie. “Anger can run on lava. Joy can hover. Fear is the fastest character, because he’s scared of everything. And Disgust can bounce around higher than everyone else because everything disgusts her. Last but not least, there’s Sadness. The clouds don’t dissolve when she’s on them, but they do when anyone else steps on them.”

THE MOUSE HOUSE…
There are tons of new Disney Infinity 3.0 figures to tie in with the launch. Alongside 15 Star Wars figures and five Inside Out figures, there will be Mulan, Hulkbuster, as well as Frozen fave, Olaf. You can even add classic Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse to your collection, too!

SNOW JOKE…
“Olaf really cracks me up in Disney Infinity 3.0,” admits Senior Producer Michael Schneider. “He’s really funny and it’s a completely different experience to having a Jedi or a Sith. Olaf’s got some really funny animations when he defeats enemies. For his special power, he goes into summer mode. The sun comes out, so he flips out his beach chair and lies down while his enemies fry under the sun!”

HEY MICKEY…
“Mickey’s has cool boxing moves in Disney Infinity 3.0, so he can punch and block,” explains MichaelSchneider. “For his special attack move, he summons his friends to come and fight for him, so expect to see characters like Goofy, Pluto and Oswald pop up every now and then!”

A CHARMED LIFE…
“Minnie is a lot of fun, too,” reveals MichaelScheider. “She can throw her purse around and it comes back to her, just like a boomerang! Minnie can charm her enemies into doing her fighting for her, so they will turn on each other and leave her out of harm’s way.”

EXPANDING THE UNIVERSE…
Want more fun? You got it! There are two terrific Toy Box Expansion Games for Disney Infinity 3.0. “The first is Toy Box Speedway,” reveals Mat Solie. “Toy Box Speedway is a kart-racing game with different modes of play. The second is Toy Box Takeover, an action-adventure game that features multiplayer gameplay allowing players to use all of their favorite Disney, Star Wars™, Marvel, and Disney•Pixar characters. It’s a lot of fun!”

DISC DELIGHTS…
There are also two exclusive Star Wars Power Disc Packs to add to the adventure. In the Star Wars Twilight Of The Republic Power Disc Pack, you will find General Grievous’ bike, two new terrains and the ability to team up with Mace Windu. In the Star Wars Rise Against The Empire Power Disc Pack, you will find a Y-Wing Fighter, as well as Bobba Fett’s Slave I ship. You’ll also nab cool disguises for Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker. Whoop!

Cheers!!!
