#Perseverance Part 2

Nobody believed my luck that day as I called my friend who was with me and also that day I had my house owner's daughter's birthday party so I returned immediately after getting the Sony Handycam from UEFA executives. As I was sitting in Jubilee Line to go to Wembley Park, I was all smiles as I always wanted a Handycam and thought that now I can make awesome videos from the same. London really fulfilled many of my small and big dreams and I simply love and adore this city!

Coming back to Perseverance, as it was London Summer time the sun used to set very late in the evenings and UEFA stalls used to get closed around 630-700pm. I used to leave office around 530 and reach Hyde Park to participate in the online contest at the stalls. I did it continuously on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and right on Thursday afternoon, I got another call from UEFA that I have won 2 tickets to the Finals between Manchester United and Football Club Barcelona. Again, I was overjoyed and collected the tickets in the evening that day. I couldn't believe my luck and it was awesome to win the prestigious tickets to the Finals of Champions League Trophy. 

Perseverance is what kept me going on my blog www.thelifesway.com as I continue to face discrimination despite creating content which is above average and giving ROI to brands much more than they deserve too for free. I have used my channels to promote a lot of brands from whom I have never got anything in return. As I celebrate my 5th anniversary of the #TheLifesWay I won't work for brands those who are not invested in me unless it's their first or second post with me. I also have family and also need time and money to work on myself and all these social media handles so there has to be a reward for the same.

Somewhere in Scotland, United Kingdom on a Road Trip in April 2011
Another story of perseverance in my life is all the facebook contests where there is some app and you need to play certain levels to win once you clear all the levels. Similarly, an Indian gaming website once had a campaign where you can redeem the points collected by playing their mini-games for a Hand Blender. I had heard earlier from my mom how much she desired the hand-blender so I thought it to be the right opportunity to work out the plan to reach that levels of points and earn the hand-blender for my mom. I worked for continuous 10 days playing a lot of games each evening after office hours at home till the time my eyes automatically used to shut down. I reached the level and ordered the hand-blender without the knowledge of my mom and took the delivery of the same in my office and then when I traveled back to my mom's place 275 kilometers far and gifted her the same she was so happy. I thought that my perseverance has paid off big time that day. 

Once I have set my mind to achieve something no one can change the same until I get that thing. I have that in me but it doesn't mean I have not struggled in my life. My life has always been a Life of Pi because I was born on 22 July so numerically its 22/7 which is a Pi value. The Life's Way is my love and passion which gives me smiles all the time I look at and some unfulfilled expectations which I am working towards on a daily basis.

This is what we know. We are living in a hyper-connected, digital world where machines are talking to other machines. But, it is after all still a human planet. So here’s the important bit: the driving force to integrate the machine world into the human word is artificial intelligence; in short AI.

AI is however only that which is presented on the surface. It’s what lies beneath – the machine programmes that are the drivers of a successful AI solution, and the intelligence gleaned from these that benefit marketing.

A recent Martech survey shows that almost 80 percent of marketers say AI will be the next big thing, but an astonishing 90 percent of professionals aren't yet using AI in their marketing. The survey also shows that only 40 percent of that 90 percent plan on using it in the next three years.

This is possibly due to AI being seen as still an alien concept, especially when a user is presented with a bottomless sea of data. It can be overwhelming. However, AI - and more specifically machine learning - is the autonomous solution that makes sense of all the data so that it can positively be used in the world of marketing.

In simple terms, salesforce.com explains AI as “the concept of having machines ‘think like humans’ - in other words, perform tasks like reasoning, planning, learning, and understanding language. While no one is expecting parity with human intelligence today or in the near future, AI has big implications in how we live our lives. The brain behind artificial intelligence is a technology called machine learning, which is designed to make our jobs easier and more productive.

Okay cool, but what exactly is machine learning? Again looking to salesforce.com’s basic definitions, machine learning is the “core driver of AI. It is the concept of having computers learn from data with minimal processing.”

That is, data is fed to the computer, whether you are swiping a loyalty card at a supermarket or surfing the web. The computer detects patterns and provides “marketer’s gold” – that is, superb insight into the customer.

If you are a customer of two of our foremost retail stores, you have probably noticed the personalised vouchers sent based on your most purchased items; this is a machine learning garnered from human habits.

The good news is that AI solutions combining machine learning have become both straightforward and cost-effective, meaning they can easily integrated into all businesses. You don’t need to be a data scientist or a computer boffin to deploy a good machine learning solution.

What will make the good marketers stand out from the rest though is how specific you are regarding what information you would like to assemble per customer. By doing this you add both a hypothetical or real voice – think Siri, or other virtual assistants – for your marketing to add real value to your customers’ lives, your projection abilities and so optimise the entire business. It’s all about predictive journeys and personalisation, in a way that has never before been possible. Think of it as your crystal ball.

Jeffry Nimeroff, CIO at Zeta Global, really summed it up it in a great way when he published an article on Forbes.com. He said: “Machine learning techniques are being used to solve many diverse problems, and we stand to benefit as we move towards a world of hyper-converged data, channels, content, and context – having the right conversation at the right time with the right person in the right way. For us marketers, machine learning is about finding nuggets of ‘predictive’ knowledge in the waves of structured and unstructured data.”

Nimeroff also identified the following four marketing areas that will be impacted by machine learning this year:
  • Automated data visualisation (including machine learning results) will become more rich, and user-friendly.
  • Content analysis (textual, lexical, multimedia/ rich) will be used to drive better marketing conversations.
  • Incremental machine learning techniques will become more prevalent, leading to real-time, not just on-going and automated, changes in marketing execution.
  • Learning from machine learning results will accelerate the growth and skills of marketing professionals.
Machine learning is pushing the marketing industry forward – full stop. It may seem otherworldly for now - as with anything new, and it will take some time to be fully understood. But, it is a conversation that needs to take place in every marketing department.

We are all beginners and so need to arm ourselves with as much knowledge as possible whether through online courses, conversing with gurus, or reading as much as possible about this phenomenal phenomenon.

Continuing the journey of the 5th year anniversary for my baby whom I grew from strength to strength and which kept me alive by giving me enough motivation and passion to carry on despite nothing turning out as I desired. Perseverance is a powerful skill and if you have the same, you can do wonders. I will tell you a story from my life where I got something great in my life by following this principle of life. 

I created my twitter handle @araijain long back on 14 Dec 2009 when I got the first Google Android Smartphone G1 from my brother who used to work for Google. It was a lovely smartphone which defined what is Smart and what lies beyond in the world of technology. I really loved the Google G1 because of its full-fledged sliding keyboard and ability to increase the memory using the micro-SD card. As it was the first smartphone from Google, it used to get the latest android updates till version 2.3 it got and after that it was kind of incompatible with the next versions of Android Operating System. I used it throughout my London Stay before getting migrated to Google's Nexus One smartphone so as to play Angry Birds on the same.

At the Hyde Park Venue for UEFA Champions League Wembley Finals 2011
Coming back to the story of perseverance, it was during those times in London, I came across an advertisement in the Metro newspaper for the UEFA Champions League Trophy 2011 where the finals were to be held in Wembley Stadium and UEFA is organizing an awareness campaign in Hyde Park, London for the week following the finals. I had no clue about the football but only used to see people buying and wearing merchandise from Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and many such teams sponsored by many brands. Though I used to live right next to Wembley Stadium but never watched any football match before that time. I asked my friends if they want to go to Hyde Park on Saturday to attend the Road to Finals event but they declined other than 1 who said he wants to come and see the trophy live. 

We reached and venue and saw all the stalls setup and tried our luck in various competitions all day long. UEFA stall girls who were from Germany and were not fluent in English did some partiality in terms of handing out the right prizes to us when we answered some of the questions in one of their main stalls. We were happy with what we got and visited several of the stalls from video games to actual tshirts signed by biggest players. Messi was gaining much popularity and people were supporting him a lot. Meanwhile, my friend figured out all the 12 questions answers using a gang of Chinese people who were non-stop participating in the contest. We were not aware as to why and what’s the top prize but came to know when we also go our 12 questions correct in the online system. Not only I got the bagpack or the football as the prize but also stood a chance to see the finals at Wembley Stadium. Till that time our strategy was to get all the prizes nominated for 1 to 11 right answers and collect all the unique UEFA memorabilia. Crazy huh!!!

After a hectic day where I also got into the finals for that game where you have touch the blinking light in the fastest hands with the fastest time around to be called for the next round on Sunday, I reached and slept in my room. Next morning again I went alone to play the second round but could not perform better than the first day so couldn’t reach next round. 

Disappointed with my performance I was walking and enjoying the Hyde Park when I received a call from the UEFA team that I have won a Digital Camera to come and collect by a certain time. I became so excited that I ran to the main stall and waited there till the time the executives came and handed me a brand new Sony HDR 120GB Handycam in my hands. It was a moment of true joy and I thanked all Gods and everyone and immediately followed the principle of perseverance again by participating in the quiz contest. Rest story will be in another post tomorrow.

It all started when we visited one of my wife’s friend and she told that she had won a Kindle from a contest from writing a blog post. After some days, she visited our house and I asked her how and where she won the same?

Before that time I used to participate in Facebook contests and used to win 1 or 2 every week or month and was happy with the goodies received from the same. Then I tried participating in twitter contests and my winning rate multiplied significantly by 7 to 15 per week. It was awesome where I need to track which contests I won on which date and then whether the goodies/prizes have been received or not? It was awesome and then there were times when I didn’t win even a single contest for 3 months at one go despite more efforts and it was really devastating. So I thought about the same later and connected the dots and the results was that you need to be grateful for every small as well as big wins and you have to stay in the attitude of winner. It’s something that take time to come but can be mastered with practice. I really loved learning new things as social media channels grew and worked on many different social media channels.

As she hesitated but finally introduced me to the website after several requests on the same, I only focussed on remembering the website she logged on my laptop and this way I came to know about Indiblogger. Indiblogger is the biggest bloggers community with their unique and advanced platforms in India and they used to organize several bloggers events collaborating with brands. As I was good with my tweets and continued to win several contests, I blogged about all the goodies received from several brands.

The first year of blogging was slow till March, when I just launched the online blogpost page and did some posts to get into the Indiblogger community. After I got some posts done and I got chance to be on the Blogadda bloggers platform too where they has these fastest blogger wins sure shot gift vouchers. I participated in the same and got some gift vouchers from the branded posts. My biggest break came in my first Indiblogger meet for Microsoft where I met some of local bloggers and they gave me some good ideas to advance my blogging skills. I won several gifts at the event and at the second meet, I won my first big prize of HP Sleekbook for one of my posts on HP Connected Music. 

Blogadda and Indiblogger became my family networks as I continued to win several prizes in many of their contests. With Blogadda I even got their esteemed Notable Newbie Blogger award and many books and products to review on their platforms. 

I will continue my journey during these 30 days to the 5th Birthday of The Life’s Way on 27th Dec 2017 and write more about my experience with the social media channels.

A Memoir - This Month Last Year - Nov 2016 www.thelifesway.com #TheLifesWay

Hi Friends, 

November is the time when you plan to finish all your pending tasks and I am also busy completing all the pending review posts for some of the devices I either bought or got it for review. It's also the time to meet and start new associations for the next year. As my blog www.thelifesway.com will be completing 5 Years on 27th Dec 2017, I have upped my Instagram game and also associating all the channels across all my handles and some days ago only, I switched to Business account on Instagram. I have also started seeking help from many in the industry to learn from their experiences which I was not doing earlier. This has opened my world further and I am getting a lot of ideas. 

1. @HuaweiZA Introduces the #HuaweiMate9 #Android #Phablet #aStepAhead - http://www.thelifesway.com/2016/11/huaweiza-introduces-huaweimate9-android.html - Huawei launches their Mate Editions range of smartphones during this time and this year Mate 10 was launched in CapeTown but I was not the chosen blogger to be flown to the launch but anyhow I watched the same live on facebook as my love for the brand. Let's see what happens as I try again and again to get sponsored a smartphone by Huawei.

A #Trolls Movie Experience of Lifetime @FantaFunZA #FantaPhotoBomb - http://www.thelifesway.com/2016/11/a-trolls-movie-experience-of-lifetime.html - This was such a great campaign I was part of last year which gave me a lot of fun along with fun with family too. I also won the Samsung A5 Smartphone as a lucky draw prize when I attended the Trolls movie at Sterkinekor. I gifted the same to my mom as she was looking for something new and always was getting old smartphones from either my brother or myself. She was very happy to get this gift. Recently, I am not doing much for anyone as I am now looking to go sponsored so totally taking away all the free posts. If I am not getting the pageviews, I want to achieve, then only I will go and post press releases but it will be only my wish.

The amount of detail in the setup was awesome and checkout some of the images from the night run in this post.

I am very lazy sometimes and too busy sometimes to write these but last year November I covered for all the pending ones. There were many companies from whom I have not got anything in return so I have simply stopped working for them or covering them on my blog.

The next big thing that is happening in November 2017 is the launch of Anytime Anywhere Magazine Print Edition in UK and South Africa along with Online edition where I will be writing articles on Travel and Technology.
